Sirens of Titan

OOC: This thread is written with Praetonia's concent.
After the return of Camewot DuPont and Costinack didn't even had time sit down and relax when the telephone rang. It was Dudley, the guy who always knew where to strike. Little was known about this Dudley fellow except he was in the know of most government activities around the world. Although the vile scrum at Credonia never admit it, it was obvious they were planning something. It was a short call and Costinack said to DuPont they had a plane to catch. To Praetonia this time.
Sirens of Titan International Airport was more busy as usual since a new wind is blowing through the customs. A man without scrupules and impossible to bribe, he ordered 100% checks of everyone who entered and left Sirens of Titan. Little could he do when Mr Costinack and Mr DuPont left Sirens of Titan. He knew these two men were probably the biggest terrorists alive but there was no evidence to arrest them.
39 Hours later, Praetonia...
The customs were no problem at all. A fake beard, a mask and some make up plus false passports were enough to fool the most experienced agents on the airport. They got their luggage, booked a suite in the Praetonian Hilton and left in a limosine theyr hired. Supposedly wealthy businessmen they were welcomed in the Hilton and treated with respect.
This had to be a quick and easy job, and according to Dudley they had 3 days to do it, so Costinack and DuPont had to improvise. Propane tanks in a lorry would prove to be an oustanding choice since those are fairly easy to steal. A propanetank alone would not be enough. The possibilty of creating too few casulties was too big. No, they had to think of something else. An unstoppable chain reaction? Yes, that would do it. A chain reaction with lots of gasoline. A traffic jam!
Finding a road with congested traffic wasn't a difficult task, they just looked out the window. Costinack noticed a big road in the middle of the towncenter with roadworkers. 2 Lanes were closed off so everything was forced into 1 single lane. Perfect.
1 Day later...
After cruising around a little DuPont and Costinack saw a propane storage. One guard who was asleep and it was lunchtime. Things could be easier than this. DuPont walked in and just took the driver seat of one truck and Costinack did the same. Heh, the fools left the keys in the contact. The tanks were as big as an ordinary propane truck (http://www.hutchtank.com/Sales/Canada/propane/superior.jpg) - that would give a nice firework. The tanks were filled to the full and Costinack and DuPont were ready to go.
The car they hired was left there, they didn't need it anymore. They drove back to the city and parked it on an industrial carpark. The two crooks stole a car and drove back to the Hilton where they started the building of the detonator, the most important piece of machinery. It would be a long wire with a small iron tip which gives off sparkles when turned on. An alarmclock was needed to set the time of explosion. This thing was fairly easy to make and it took them only 5 hours.
Mounting it on the lorries with the propane tanks was a different story. It took them the whole night before they finally led the cable from the engine to the tank without leaking gas. It was early in the morning and the traffic was coming to a halt in the street were it was going to happen. Both trucks must stand at least 200 meter away from eachother to maximize the effect. A simple calculation was enough and they left after each other, leaving a 200 meter gap between them. The timer had to be set on 5 minutes to lesses the risk of capture. A subway station was at both points nearby and it would take them roughly 3.2 minutes to get in and take cover inside. When the first explosions were over they would rendez-vous in a connected shoppingmall under streetlevel. If it still exists that is. After the massive bombing in Camewot Costinack and DuPont abandoned all fear. Nothing could possibly stop them.
Yes, everything was set. The timer would start ticking once the truck stops for 5 minutes and then - another 5 minutes later - armageddon would cover the capital of Praetonia, cloacking everything in flames and havoc.
Both trucks were stuck in the traffic at the right spot and they quietly stepped out of their vehicles as the same time while watching at their stopwatches. Both ran to their respective subway stations and ran to the underground entrance of the shoppingmall. There they sought refuge an even deeper layer of the building but then an earth shattering explosion ripped up like it seemed the whole world and the cacophony of explosions and destruction went on for at least five whole minutes. Luckily for Costinack and DuPont they were at a safe distance but when they saw the flames in the subway station raging on, it was time to hurry up a bit. As they rushed up the stairway the screaming of people going down in the elevator could be heard. The noise died seconds later...
Costinack and DuPont kept walking and walking until they reached the roof terrace. Everybody huddled together waiting for a rescue helicopter that would come soon.
