This is a new IDF light dreadnought under development, it will be nothing near a super-dreadnought and will have 15 x 24 inch guns (may be adjusted + or - 2 inches.

other stats aren't done yet as this is still on the drawing boards. We merely want people to tell us what they want in their light dreadnought/Heavy Battleship.

If you have ideas or criticisms, please post them

24 inch guns are fine with me, as in RL there were 20 inch guns in WWII. BTW, what tech level is the ship?

You should definately add some anti missle defense systems and maybe some Tomahawk launch areas.

Actually, the ship designed to carry the 20in cannon was destroyed before it was fully constructed. Germany had been building a 142,000 ton battleship, but lost the war before it could be finished.

15 is a bit much...... I would say about 9 in 3 turrets in a ship that is 140k tones. 15 main guns is a lot for any ship.

The Japanese. The Yamato and Musashi were originally designed for 20-inch weapons, but the guns themselves were destroyed in an earthquake and they replaced them with the 18.1-inch guns originally destined for the B-64 battleships, which were never finished.

15 x 24" guns with a displacement of 140K? Not bloody likely. The smallest DN that Doujin makes mounts 15 x 22" guns and displaces 280,000 tons at full load.

Oh, you COULD do those 24-inchers at such a small displacement, but what you wouldn't be able to add very much else. You would just have a big, expensive coast bombardment vessle.

Aye, and I'd wonder about her ability to conduct a broadside or anything.

Personally, I'd go for eight 24in guns on a mono-hulled design (which I assume this is), coupled to a VLS with maybe 30+ missiles, and a secondary armament of say 8in guns, plus the usual SAMs and whatnot. That would require a good big beam, say about 40m-ish, and a lot of length, call it 480m, not to mention about an 11.8m draft, I reckon. But it'd be powerful, and a competent all-rounder.

I never said anything about displacement. Mine will be over 1/4 million tons. Some other people mentioned displacement

Lasers. It needs lasers. Lasers and Nukes.

Also, a special ninja marine force.

no nukes on this, although the cruise missiles can be armed with nuclear warheads. No lasers period though as they aren't modern tech
