The Tiger Class Railgun Gunboat is the second joint project completed by the Portland Iron Works and Imperial Praetonian Shipyards. The ship features a main armament of railguns, designed to engage heavily armoured targets at long range. Equipped with two nuclear engines and an anti-air and ASW armament the ship can both project her power around the world alone or as part of a fleet, aswell as being able to protect a nation’s territorial waters from attack by heavily armoured opponents. This is one of the most technologically advanced ships ever built.
Cost: $2bn
The Commonwealth is most interested in the new joint venture project between Praetonia and Sarzonia. We would like an initial purchase of 5 Tiger Class Railgun Gunboat for a total of $7.5 billion. Funds will be wired upon confirmation. We are also interested in production rights for this craft. Is this possible?

[OOC: Normally orders have to go through both storefronts but I dont see Sarzonia having any problem with this]

We have discovered that if the ship is lengthened to the specification now shown above, the effective usefulness of the ship would be more than doubled. As such we have decided to delay all current orders by 2 NS years in order to lengthen the hulls to provide our customers with a better product. Current orders will not have to pay extra to meet the new price.

Isn't your "Gun Boat" basically a destroyer?
Praetonia
25-08-2004, 12:45
Yes, well now a light cruiser size, but the name gunboat refers to it's main armament of guns, as opposed to missiles as is the norm.

I was going to say, my Gun-boats have twice the speed and half the length, good little boats mind, very reliable down rivers. That gives me an Idea, check Sirens of Titan's map then PM on Victoria I have an Idea, good one I think.

What do you get a ship to go at 70knts :/.

25-08-2004, 13:05
Check the Thames River Police, take off 5 knots and add Twin .60 Magine guns, 4 .50 Calibre Wolfbanes and you have a "Banshee"

You can't get ships to go much faster than 45, maybe 50 if you're very lucky in perfect conditions with no cargo, because of the captive wave. You certainly cant get 70 with anything sea-worthy.

Come on work with me here!
Thames River Police Patrol Boats go around 70 knots due to the fact that people who fall in the river are dead in 2 minutes. everything was sacrificed for speed.
I have sacrificed all, but armaments for speed, it's a hit and run boat. No more, used to attack coastlines and run away, hit big ships quickly and run away,
Two Torp Tubes on port and starboard side reduce the speed by an extra 10 knots, so the grand total the average Banshee goes is 55 knots. But a few still aren't fitted with Torpedo Tubes so can still go around 65 Knots.
Put it this way, although a rifle round may not penatrate th hull, anything else will!

The Tiger?
OOC: No The O Faolains' ship. I already had a talk with Chardonay about the Tiger...
IC: We are pleased to confirm the order from Doomingsland. Your 10 ships will take approximately 6 NS years to complete and will cost $20bn. I hope that your ships serve your navy well and that you consider the Portland Iron Works and Imperial Praetonian Shipyards in future when looking to enlarge your fleet.

OOC: After thinking about what you guys have written (Don't use God Mod it sounds too much of an insult) and talking to a Royal Navy Engineer I decided I needed to revise the Specs of the Banshee. The Banshee was originally based on the PT boats that fought in the Pacific Arena of the Second World War, I then suped it up.
