DESCRIPTION AND WEAPONS SYSTEMS
The Type 44 is the replacement for the Royal Navy's Type 42 Destroyer - as the primary anti-air and missile vessel for the fleet. It has two new systems, both missile systems using Enhanced Stinger missiles and the Exocet missile. They will both be explained later. Recently the Royal Navy struck a deal with Imperial Praetonian Shipyards to use their latest multi-layered trimaran armour plating for our vessels. The first test prototype for this is the Type 44, and it has exceeded our testing well. We hope the type gives you many years of good service.
The most interesting part of the Type 44 are its new weapons systems - and we will now go on to explain them. The first is the GAAMLS;
GAAMLS
~-~-~- Guided Anti-Air Missile Launch System - The GAAMLS can be found on the fore and the aft of the ship - the blue strip on the top denotes naval hardware. Each GAAMLS holds six enhanced Stinger Mk2 RN-B missiles - essentially Stinger missiles with a smaller payload, more fuel and a bigger engine. When firing, the top of the GAAMLS lifts up, and the top two missiles (side-by-side- stacked) are latched onto the top. After the `lid` of the GAAMLS is fully lifted, which takes about two seconds, there is a delay of a further second to initiate guidance systems - after that the missiles are immediately launched. It takes another three seconds for the next missiles to be pushed into position, and then the `lid` has to close before it opens to fire again. There is storage for sixty eight of said missiles. The GAAMLS can hold most western missiles, and some of the more popular ex-soviet missiles with a bit of modification. The guidance system for the fore GAAMLS is located on the far left mast, and the aft GAAMLS the far aft mast. It is also controllable manually by the ops room.
The next is an anti-surface/shipping weapon known as the ASEMSS
ASEMSS
~-~-~- Anti Surface/Shipping Exocet Missile Strike System - the ASEMSS is located on the aft behind the aft GAAMLS. The ASEMSS is essentially a naval based - (hence the blue strip on the front) MRLS. It holds up to sixteen Enhanced Exocet missiles at a time, however the draw back is that they have to be reloaded manually. The Enhanced Exocets pack a larger payload and more fuel. The ASEMSS works in tandem with huge and sophisticated radar guidance system (RDS) that allows it to guide each missile individually, going with the Royal Navy's ideal of STF (Strategic Targets First) or to guidance and gunning officers, Stuff. If that guidance system is disabled they can be fired from the ops room, although the whole system will home in on a single point, losing its ability to control each missile.

TYPE 25 STARLIGHT CLASS CRUISER
This was my first ship.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/HogsweatNS/Type25Cruiser2.gif
DESCRIPTION AND SOME SPECIFICATIONS
The Type 25 Medium cruiser "Starlight" was designed to replace the Royal Navies aging type 22 frigate as a primary anti surface vessel. First off;
Armament:
The Type 25 is equipped with a Seawolf anti-air and anti-missile Point Defence Vertical Launch System for use against low flying aircraft and missiles. The VLS is guided by its tracking radar on top of the middle block. The Type 25 also features two Vickers 114MM, or 4.5" cannon which can fire at a rate of 25 rounds per minute up to a maximum range of 12 miles, being used primarily for shore bombardment and anti-surface combat. At the fore, the Type 25 cruiser boasts a 10" cannon that can fire up to 12 rounds per minute at a range of 18 miles and used for shore bombardment and anti-surface roles. On the right hand block there is a Harpoon anti ship missile. There are two systems next to each other, each housing six missiles that can fire to a range of 92KM.
The ops room is located also two decks below the middle block - housing all the control systems for the ship, and in time of action its captain. However, a second ops room can be located on the top - left hand block. This is where, traditionally Royal Navy captains preside over whats happening.
As a anti-submarine and to some extent, anti-surface, the Type 25 can hold one Navy Lynx Mark 8 in its hangar behind the fore gun.
The Type 25 Medium Cruiser has a larger displacement of around 5000 tonnes , 700 more tonnes than the Type 23, the mainstay of the Hogsweatian Royal Navy.
It is powered by a Tunstill Mk4 Diesel Electric Naval Engine making 1.6 MW of power providing a maximum speed of 14 knots per hour - the secondary combined engin, Tunstill Mk2 Gas Powered Naval Engine provides 10 knots per hour making around 10 MW of power.
(OOC:: I salvaged and modified from royal navy website for engine. I do NOT understand it, so if someone can help sort it out i would be glad.
The Type 918 AIr Surveillance radar is located at the top of the mast and helps detect incoming aircraft. There is also a Type 919 Sonar located at the front of the ship to detect approaching submarines.
DIMENSIONS AND GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
Displacement:: 5100 Tonnes
Length: 150 Metres
Draft: 8 Metres
Width: 15 Metres
