greetings, this is East Islandia. In the pursuit of a good RP (after the rogue submarine rp was completed) i have instituted this character RP.
Its based on the award winning Korean movie "Joint Security Area", so go see it if u havent...

I would certainly be interested in a RP, EI. But could you answer a question first...I've never been so sure of where you're located. I have now seen the Chinese map of Maropian Coast, _Taiwan, Sino and Xiaguo. I know where Drapol and South Hanguk are...and Japann. Hudecia I have heard is western Canada...but I don't believe I've ever heard where East Islandia is.

I am somewhere in the sunny oceans of the South Pacific... i'm a little off australia i believe, somewhere near the solomon islands. My country is mostly azn, some caucazn expatriates...
o yea, the latest idea was to do something based around the plot of Joint Security Area, a korean movie released in 2000. Its about these four soldiers who end up kiling each other in a twist of fate (dont worry, doesnt give the movie away)...
so yea, i wanna base it taht way

After action report of Specialist Lee Chun
Korean border between Drapol and South Korea
0200 hours
"Ahn young," Lee said quietly to her comrade, who almost slipped off her seat.
"Careful!" Corporal Kim Minhee admonished. "I could have killed you!"
Lee smiled. "Dont be silly," she replied. "Not like the Drapoel will attack; they are our allies, remember? We even gave those J-10s to them. I doubt they will be so ungrateful as to-"
At that moment, the door creaked open, Both turned around, startled, but relaxed when they saw their duty officer, Lieutenant Noka, a quiet, tall Islandian female.
"You two should have your pistols up," Noka admonished, slipping off her helmet. "Who knows if-"
Outside, a twig cracked. The three of them frowned, and reached for their pistols simulatenously-
Just in time to be blinded by a flash of light. Noka, closest tot he door, quickly dived behind a desk, and drew her pistol, even as she couldnt see anything.
The whole world exploded as the door was kicked aside and a weapon fired. Through the haze that obscured her eyes, Lee could see Noka die first, hit by bullet to her face, the only unarmored part of her body.
Next to her, Kim quickly fired at the intruder, who managed to roll before she depressed the trigger. He fired at her, hitting her in the knee and bringing her to one foot, and shot again, hitting her in the throat (her flakvest was half unzipped).
Lee barely had time to react; she had been staring at the door, and as such, was the one who was affected the most by the flashbang. She had fumbled for her pistol and drew it quickly, although she could not see anything.
The intruder's shot hit her in the chest, luckily where her flakvest had protected her, but his second shot slammed into her shoulder, exposed when she staggered back from the force of his shot. She dropped her pistol and fell, sliding behind a desk, and fumbled for Kim's pistol, which lay next to her. She quickly picked it up and pumped a shot into the intruder's knee.
She rose, and was about to fire another shot, but was gone. By this time, she could hear response forces from both sides of the DMZ shouting, and gunfire broke out. Medics rushed into their bunker, and before she knew it, Lee passed out from the profuse blood loss...

Two days after the events of Corporal Lee's after action report
Seoul, South Korea
Lee Chun stared at the ceiling, her eyes unfocused. Her light brown hair was spread in a fan around her head, and her gray eyes seemed vacant, almost glazed, as she looked around her hospital room.
The doctors had told her of the bad news; her right arm had lost its function, and she had a large bruise in her chest area, from the bullet. The surgeons had told her that she had had a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) from the impact, and although that surgery had gone well, there were lasting effects.
Worse; both Lieutenant Noka and Kim were dead now. Lee sighed, and dreaded the letters she had to write to their family.
Noka had a child, a young girl, if Lee remembered correctly, and a husband, a stay-at-home dad who worked for an Internet business; Kim was the only daughter of peasant parents, and had only joined the military for job training and benefits.
Lee sighed. And now, there was the prospect of war hanging over the Korean peninsula....
(Just a tag for now, as I'm reading through sleep-filled eyes, but I shall return.)

Do you give us a list of Charitcters or can we make our own? I am just wondering becuase I have a lot of Charitcer roleplays.
I'm in! I have lots of troops there though, so I might end up having a different role than just one character. Maybe I could RP the rescue team or something.

Hmm... new charachter RPs... this seems interesting.
I've always thought of doin a Vietnam style war in Maropian Coast, which would end in the nulear annihalation of both Bonstock and Maropian Coast, but I'll wait on that, for now.
Well, I could always say something relating to this thread:
Seoul, Dra-pol
Bonstocknian Consuate to Dra-pol
The door knocked loudly. "Mr. Hoffmann! Mr. Hoffmann! We have a report!"
"What the hell is it, Bengtssen? I'm trying to enjoy this damned excuse Dra-pol has for coffee."
"I'm sure its enjoyable, sir, but this is important."
"Well, then god dammit bring it in!"
Bengtssen opened the door carefully, holding a file in his hands. Hoffmann, sitting behind his desk, with a cup of "coffee" in his hands, waited, very impatiently.
"Come on, it can't be too important," said Hoffmann.
"Apparently it is, sir." He handed him the file, and Hoffmann took some paers out.
"What the bloody hell do I care about the god-damned demilitarized zone?"
"Well, its somewhat of a defining feature here, asSouth Hankuk can attest."
"Well, why do you have to interupt my coffee break to tell me about this god damned DMZ?"
"Because, something happened on it that might be of use to us."
"What, it there a magical world of real coffee there?"
"No, sir. There was an incident there."
"What the bloddy hell do I care about some goddammed incident?"
"You are the superior BSS operative on the Korean Penninsula, Mr. Hoffmann."
"This entire peninsula is damned, man! Incidents occur every day! Look around, children dying from famine, young boys with AKs, and every other sign of a degenerted, imploded wreck of a nation."
"Well, sir, its our job to watch this degenerated, imploded wreck of a nation."
"Don't you question me about what our job is, Mr. Bengtssen. Remember, I am the officer in charge, and I could have you court martialed for insubordination!"
"Yes, sir."
"Good. Now what is this incident we were talking about?"
"Two Islandian soldiers were killed when..."
"So?" interupted Hoffmann.
After a brief pause, Bengtssen continued. "Anyway, two Islandians were killed when a supposed enemy intruder came and sho them both in their bunker."
"This shit happens every day!"
"Actually, I have come to believe that it may not be so normal."
A brief pause ensued. Hoffmann's cold, dark eyes looked directly at Bengtssen. "Then do something about it."
"Yes, sir!"
He exitted the room.

okay, so this is how things will work:
someone will have to investigate this (a neutral party)
Someone will have to negotiate to prevent this incident from exploding
And then we will have to keep this from being another war
And maybe someone will be in the background, trying to raise a stink.
Oh, and please note: this RP is before Drapol takes over the southern half of Korea. If you notice, my character even states "we gave J-10s to Drapol..." which is what my nation did before they turned on South Korea.
So this may be the incident htat sparked the Korean war and such. I know its confusing, but its actually going backwards.

Perhaps I could RP the investigation? LRR is probably the most neutral party currently on the Korean Penninsula.

After action report of Lieutenant Chi Tan, commander of the reaction force
0235 hours
Korean border, Forward Area Bei
The gunshots cracked through the night, disrupting the calm. In the command bunker, a call quickly went out, and the watch commander, a captain, quickly roused his subordinate, Lieutenant Chi.
"Shots fired!" he yelled at Lieutenant Chi as he quickly depressed the klaxon button. "Let's go! Take your men there!"
"But there are only thirty in the forward team!" Chi protested, even as he suited up. "Intelligence indicates there are more than a hundred Drapol over on the other side of the border!"
"NO time!" his superior said. "Bei is under attack! We have to help them! Get on-scene and secure the area! I'll coordinate help and get an airstrike going!"
"FIne," CHi replied. His captain was resonable, as usual; Chi was quite bad at calling in air support, to say it mildly. He ended up almost killing two men during an exercise. "Just get our backup going!"
He quickly ran outside, issuing orders to his NCOs. No longer sleepy, soldiers quickly threw on combat vests, pants, and boots, having no time to fit their full gear; most simply wore their black spidersilk body glove, combat vests, helmets, pants, boots, night vision goggles, and a belt of ammunition.
Chi sighed as he buckled on his assault harness and jumped into the passenger seat of the lead HMMVW. Someone took the roof gunner position and the convoy roared out, speeding the 400 meters to Forward Area Bei.
The men rushed out the doors, activating their NVGs and taking cover behind the bunkers and some makeshift barricades. They all could hear the distant roar of fire, and some cringed as tracers erupted all around them.
"Lancers, return fire!" Chi roared over his helmet intercom, as the men fanned out and fired back at the North Korean side. There were only thirty men, and as Chi watched several of his soldiers fall, he began to worry.
He triggered the radio. "This is Response Team Shai," he said quickly, in English. "We are at For-ward A-re-a Bei, and ta-king fire. Help requested."
At that moment, several men emerged with Specialist Lee, who was bleeding from her wounds.
"What happened?" Chi demanded, as his medics tended to her.
"Intruder," she croaked, her voice barely audible. "Lieutenant Noka and Spc Kim...down...taken by surprise..."
she coughed profusely, and blood leaked out her mouth from the internal bleeding in her chest.
"Take her to a hospital area!" Chi shouted, as another explosion rang next to him and several men cried out. He swore, and nodded to his rocket crews.
Five HE rounds streaked into the night, slamming against hills ont he other side of the border. Whether or not they hit anything was debatable.
The fire kept coming, an unrelenting hail of death that did not pause, and did not hesitate to wipe out Chi's men.
"Lieutenant!" one of his NCOs shouted. "We have three killed, and ten men out of action! Requesting withdrawal!"
"No!" Chi answered, not even looking up from his SAR-21 assault rifle. "Gunners hold your positions! Lay down covering fire! Riflemen will advance!"
"Advancing?" the NCO asked in confusion. "BUt we're-"
"Do it!" he shouted, and popped a smoke round into his grenade launcher. He nodded to several other men, and they all triggered their smoke grenades, which lay a cloud of thick, red smoke on the border area.
At that moment, backup forces arrived......

Bengtssen, fresh from his 'confrence,' marched through the embassy, down to a room, which said "Employees Only." He walked over to a room which had a bathroom sign, a ladies room. He knocked. A man's voice returned. "Password?"
Bengtssen replied, quitly, "Hangman."
The door slowly opened. "Mr. Bengtssen, what a pleasure," said the man behind the "Ladies Room" door. The room was full of electronic listening equipment, which could moniter transmissions all over Asia. Men sat behind dozens of computers, overseeing the transmissions.
Bengsten walked in. "So, any news from the DMZ, Lee?"
"Ah, quite a lot. Listen." He approached on of the computers, and restored a sound file. He clicked play. Some jabbering in Korean.
"Well what does it mean?"
"It means, apparently, '2nd Squad attack and destroy enemy nest 14032 to prepare for operation to sieze objective Hamhung at exactly 0235 hours.' I honestly don't see why the Dra-poleans would be so stupid as to do that over walkie-talkie, it was bound to be intercepted. But it must be rather high level. It was intercepted at 0235 hours, right before we recieved another message from the Islandians." He restored another audio file, and played it. It was in Enlgish, so all could hear without translation, "This is Response Team Shai... we are at... Area Bei... requesting help." There was lots of static, and even that audible was very fuzzy.
"Sounds like the Islandians have something on their hands."
"The problem is that the BSS in Maropian Coast picked up the exact same transmission, and they want someone to find out what the hell is going on."
"Can't we just bribe someone to tell us?"
"I'm afraid it isn't that easy, Mr. Bengtssen. The Islandians have too many women, so swallows don't do a damn bit of good. And they're way to well paid to accept a bribe of less then one billion US dollars."
"Well, someone must be susceptible."
After a moment, Lee spoke back, "Mr. Bengssen, your orders are to find out what the hell is going on to the best of your ability. It is not in Bonstock's interest to have a war here, so your orders are to prevent that."
"How the hell am I supposed to do that?"
"I don't know. Those words are straight from High Command."
Bengtssen sighed. "Well, do you have any passes I might use?"
"Here." He handed Bengtssen a Dra-pol uniform.
"Do you want me to get shot, Mr. Lee?"
"In not so many words," was the sarcastic response. He then handed him a Red Cross uniform. "Take a jeep from the motor pool. It has some communications equipment, and a rifle. And a Red Cross marking. You are to pose as a Red Cross agent, and go to the front first hand to see what the hell is going on."
"So how am I supposed to prevent a war?"
"That may be the tricky part. If it happens, High Command wants you to pose as a Dra-pol officer and give orders for whoever is giving the raiding orders to dessist. Hopefully, that will do something."
"Well, I guess I'll see you later."
They saluted each other, and Bengtssen took his uniforms.
"But wait," Bengtssen said, "How the hell am I supposed to fit in? I'm not Asian!"
"Does High Command care?"
Bengtssen shrugged, and left.

Fortunately for the Bonstockian agent, there is a fair amount of western medical troops operating near the DMZ, part of the 1st AEF's medical support corps. Along with the westerners, mostly of northern european descent, are a wide range of minorities, including Indians and Pakistanis, Nepalese, and east africans among the dominant ones.
So...should we get this onto a seperate thread?

Dashing down the hallowed halls of Parliament, the secretary raced after the Prime Minister who was just leaving the building.
"Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Prime Minister!" He yelled, his face red with exhaustion. Matsuda stopped near the door, debating whether or not to pretend not to have heard him. "Mr. Prime Minister, we have an urgent report from 1st Task Force in the Sea of Japan!"
Matsuda sighed and allowed himself to be slowly guided to the impromptu 'crisis centre' already being set up. Matsuda glared at the arrangement angrily, displeased that the generals were so anxious to deal with a problem.
"What is this 'crisis' " Matsuda asked impatiently, looking at his watch.
"Mr. Prime Minister, about an hour ago we received a message from the DMZ zone on the Korean peninsula reporting that there was heavy fighting along the border with Drapol," Colonel Yang stood up cautiously and reported. "Although it may be a probe, 1st Task Force found it important enough to send back to HQ for instructions... frankly ... we are all at a loss to explain the recent violence. As are our advisors based in Seoul."
"What options do we have?" Matsuda asked guardedly.
"Frankly sir, we don't have much. We have a SOF team based out of Tokyo that we could transfer to Seoul, but that is about it. After all, we don't want to spook the Drapol forces into launching a full scale attack...."
