Due to the demands being made on the Treasury to fund new Naval construction, and the perceived need for such construction to occur, the Naval Office has elected to decomission and remove from service several older Naval systems. Thus, for sale, on the cheap, are:
NOTE: SALES CAREFULLY MONITORED
Akula-I Improved/Akula-II SSNs (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/rus/971.htm) (150 Akula-I Improved available, 98 Akula-II available)
Price:
$800,000,000 (Akula-I Improved)
$900,000,000 (Akula-II)
The Akula-I Improved and II nuclear powered submarines were until the comission of the Akula-III the most deadly submarines in the Navy. Quiet, fast, and heavily-armed, the Akula-I Improved is a dangerous and capable enemy, and more than a match for most modern submarines. The Akula-II takes the abilities of the Akula-I Improved and adds to that superior quieting technology and new sonars.
Sierra-II SSNs (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/rus/945.htm) (85 available)
Price: $900,000,000
The low-volume production, high-technology stable-mate to the Akulas, the Sierra-II submarine carries identical quieting and sonar technology to the Akula-II, but mates it with a titanium hull yielding a maximum diving depth of 750 metres. The Sierra-II is ideal as an anti-ship platform since its' titanium hull does not generate a return on an MAD system.
Victor-III SSNs (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/rus/671.htm) (215 available)
Price: $400,000,000
Although not as sophisticated as the Akula-II or Sierra-II SSNs, the Victor-III is somewhat cheaper and still a very capable system, considered to be the equal of an early 688 or a late-model Sturgeon-class submarine. The relatively low cost of these vessels makes them ideal for nations developing a naval capability.
Oscar-II SSGN (http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/russia/theater/949.htm) (155 available)
Price: $1,050,000,000
A potent anti-shipping platform. The Oscar-II combines the proven reactors and engine systems of the Typhoon ballstic-missile submarine with the deadly SS-N-19 Shipwreck anti-ship missile, to produce a truly exceptional anti-shipping weapon. The shipwreck missile's extremely high speed and the relatively low noise emissions of the submarine make it a superb weapon for close-range attacks against carrier groups or convoys, and its' high speed allows it to keep pace with all but the fastest of surface ships.
Delta-IV SSBN (http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/russia/slbm/667BDRM.htm)
Price (including 16 SS-N-23 SLBMs): $2,780,000,000
The Delta-IV ballistic-missile submarine is a capable platform for the launch of the R-29/M missile, which has a range of more than 5,000 kilometres and carries four 100Kt MIRVs. The Delta-IV is quieter than its' predecessors, and although many are now aged, they still provide a valuable nuclear deterrant ability. The Delta-IV is also capable of operating beneath arctic ice.
Surface ships
Kirov-class CGN (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/rus/1144.htm) (26 available)
Price: $1,700,000,000
A powerful addition to any surface group, the Kirov is a multi-role platform, carrying powerful active and passive sonars, enormous radars, sophisticated anti-missile and anti-aircraft systems, and 20 SS-N-19 missiles. Powere by a combined nuclear and steam (CONAS) installation, in which steam from the nuclear reactors is superheated by four oil-fired boilers, the Kirov is able to provide anti-ship, anti-air and anti-submarine ability unparalelled by any other major surface combatant short of an aircraft carrier or battleship.
Slava-class CG (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/rus/1164.htm) (12 available)
Price: $600,000,000
The Slava-class CG is a cheaper and smaller companion to the larger Kirov-class CGN. The Slava carries 16 SS-N-12 Sandbox anti-ship missiles, large weapons with a speed of 1,800 knots and a warhead able to cripple an aircraft carrier. Although not as independent as the Kirov thanks to its' need for refuelling, the Slava is a powerful complement to its' bigger brother.
Sovremennyy-class DDG (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/rus/956.htm) (42 available)
Price: $390,000,000
A powerful multipurpose platform designed to provide powerful anti-air support to carrier and submarine groups and conduct anti-shipping warfare, the Sovremennyy-class DDG mounts eight sea-skimming SS-N-22 Anti-Ship Missiles and mid-range SA-N-9 SAMs, plus a heavy CIWS array. Fast, agile, and armed to the teeth, the Sovremennyy is a valuable addition to any Navy and a powerful opponent to almost any sip short of a carrier or major surface ship.
Udaloy-class DDG (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/rus/1155_1.htm) (39 available)
Price: $355,000,000
A dedicated ASW platform which retains Anti-Ship and AA capabilities, the Udaloy-class DDG is designed to compliment the Sovremennyy-class DDG. Working in tandem, groups of these two types can keep the seas clear of almost any adversary. The Udaloy carries eight SS-N-14 anti-submarine rocket-boosted torpedo weapons in launcher boxes abreat the forward superstructure and a formidable sonar array, including a specialised low-frequency active sonar capable of penetrating thermocline layers and a high-powered modern VDS system.
