Veskaland High Command
0930 hours VST

New president Admiral Benjamin Buck is sitting in his favorite chair in his office, talking to the countrys financial advisors, Bob Corrigan and Frances Davenport.

Bob: So, Mr President Veskaland is without enough funding.
Ben: Well what can be done about it?
Frances: You could increase taxes, sir.
Bob: Or take funds from, say health and education.
Frances: Or you could declare war on a country that feels sorry fo littler poorer countries and will fund us till we get back on our feet.
Ben: But how will that help? I mean declaring war?
Bob: Well Mr President, most countries will pay up more if we lose a war to them, than if we ask.
Ben: Ok lets do it call in the military adviser.
Military Adviser Fenbar Deuse walks in.
Fenbar: Praetonia sir, best one to invade, bunch of old softies.
Ben: How do you know?
Fenbar: Its my job to know sir.
Ben: Alright invade them, only a small group, around 40 should do it.

OOC: Hopes he'll attack me. Yes I'll give you lots of money...... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Emergency Meeting of the Cabinet

The Prime Minister entered the room, a long conference room high above the Praeton streets. Bullet proof stained glass covered the left side wall and Granite and chrome the others. A huge table filled the entire room, packed with cabinet MPs. The Prime Minister took his position at the head of the table and then stood up to speak.

"A few hours ago the nation of Veskaland issued a declaration of war. We have no idea why and we have little idea of their military strength as yet. All ten of the Imperial Fleets are in Praetonian waters as are the two complete Freedom Class Superdreadnaughts, so we should be safe for now. We are attempting to contact their government but as yet we have had no luck."

"What about the nuclear testing in the Vascian Gulf [waters around Praetonia]? Will that be affected?" asked the Defence Minister. The new 5mt 'Praesidium ' bombs were being tested, and any delay now would set the nuclear program back years. The current 2mt bombs weren't deemed intimerdating enough.

"We go ahead with the testing. The island in question is defended by a Griffin Class Cruiser which can hold them off for a bit, if they even know it's there and decide to attack it. Any further questions? No? Then get your departments ready for war."

Captain Eli Fren was one of 40 men selected to participate in a very important mission, he was to go and invade Praetonia then surrender.
Assuming of course the Praetonian government would not shoot them as spies or such. Eli thought that there was a reason for his being sent on a mission of this importance. Maybee it was his relative Uncle Fenbar. Maybe it was his incredible tenacity, or maybe it could be that he would make every mistake in the book, and then some. So it would be proven Veskalands navy is poorly funded. At least that is the illusion the government wants to create. AS the vessal Okampa sailed out of Veskaland waters. Captain eli Fren fell asleep.

The PWS Chimera completed another sweep of the area around Nakalast Island. Soon the ocean would boil as chucks of the very bed-rock of the island is thrown into it, but not yet. Right now the seas were calm and empty. Perhaps too empty, but then they were expecting no attack. On the island was a small military base. A garrison of maybe 20 men a tank, but then they were expecting no attack. Praetonia was at peace and no one knew about the declaration of war yet. Those that did thaught it would come to nothing. The Chimera began it's next sweep around the island, certain of what it woudlnt find.

Fleet Admiral Benjamin Buck called a meeting of his war cabinet.
Ben: Ladies and Gentlemen Pretonia is not paying any attention to our threats, so we must take threatening action against them.

Intellegence minister Fleur Bareur spoke up.
Fleur: What kind of action are you suggesting?
Ben: According to intellegence, there is an island off the coast of Pretonia that is not heavily guarded and so Red Squad should be able to penetrate the defences and gain a foot hold in the region.

At the mention of Red Squad several of the ministers tensed up.
Fleur: Did you say Red Squad sir?
Ben: Yes, Red Squad are the best people for this job.
Fleur: Sir, I must protest.
Ben: Why, Red Squad are the best people are they not?
Fleur: Well sir, they are...
Ben: Yes?
Fleur: Well they have a superiority complex, just because they get all the newest technology doesn't mean they should get preferecial treatment.
Ben: They don't, and they will be sent.
Ministers: Aye sir.

*1 hour later*
Red Squad are headed for the island off the coast of Pretonia, which has been dubbed Delta island.Commander Charles Brayston is in command.
Charles: Ok men here it is, shoot any foe that moves.

(That reminded me of 'The mouse that roared' at first.)

The PWS Chimera was on the other side of the island as Red Squad approached. If it had been several hundred miles away it could have made this situation a lot easier. Sadly it wasn't, and Red Squad was able to land on a nuclear test site, with only a small fort around the bomb to protect the island's deadly contents.

Inside the fotress a sentry stirred from his sleep and saw a slight movement, "Sir! Sir!!" He shouted, and an Officer walked over, "Sir, do you see something down there?" The Officer peered over the parapet...

The Praetonian officer never had a chance to react as Commander Charles Brayston fired his pistol directly between his eyes, as the soldiers of Red Squad piled over the parapet guns drawn, the Praetonian soldiers lowered their weapons in surrender. Upon noticing the nuclear device...

Charles: Lieutenant, what is that thing?
Lt: No idea sir.

A Praetonian started saying something in Praetonian.

Charles: What did he say?
Lt: I don't know sir, don't speak a word of the language.
Charles: Well load it into the transport ship, seperate from the POWs ok.
Lt: aye sir.

[b]PWS Chimera[b]

"Sir we've lost contact with our base on the island," spoke an Ensign.

"We've done WHAT?!" Replied the Captain, his face a mixture of anxiousness and anger, "...ok... this musn't get to Praeton. We're going to find out what happened, and if something has happened to the bomb, we're going to sort it out, ok?"

"Sir I'm not sure..."

"Dont question me! Your protest has been noted in the log... bring the ship about, head for the pier."

The Chimera began to turn and then sped towards the island at it's 38knt top speed, their phased radar array scanning the area, it was unlikely they would pick up a small boat.

Lieutenant James Hendrix looked through the binocculars.
James: Sir we have company.
A large ship is visable a few miles away.
Charles: Damn, Alright men lets get out of here.
As the men piled into their boats the ship fired.

THe PWS Chimera spotted the boat on radar. It didnt look like much, surely it wasn't what caused the garrison to dissappear, but it shouldnt be here. Nothing was allowed within a certain distance of the bomb unless authorised. Therefore a small boat was lowered from the side of the Chimera. It was lightly armoured against machinegun bullets and mounted a single 20mm cannon on it's short forecastle. It was meant mainly for evactuating the crew, but it was occasionally used to board ships. On board were ten Imperial Marines, readying their weapons as the ship sped off towards the boat.
