The Shangian race came into existence 42 million years ago. Just a couple million years after the fall of the great dinos.

Because of our position in the time continuem, we have fauna that differ from those of other NS nations.
For example the Brontotherium.
The term "brontothere", meaning thunder - beast, was a product of Sioux Indian mythology. The Brontotherium they were referring to was a large Oligocene mammal, distantly related to the rhinoceros, and had a forked "horn" on its snout. Being larger in the males than in the females, this horn was probably used in fighting, much like those of deer and antelope today.

Swimming in Shangian national waters in not recommended.
Ambulocetus is a vicious sea carnivore known to attack humanoids.
Though able to spend time on land, they prefer the waters of Shangia where catching prey is easier.
They swim like otters and seem harmless but they attack and kill like crocodiles. So it is illegal to get close to them. Most of the time it lays under the surface along the bank and when you are filling your canteen, next thing you know, you've had your leg or arm bit by one of these if it hasn't completely dragged you into water where it proceeds to drown you. Think of the gator seen from Croc Dundee but much more lethal.
