A man slept a restless sleep in his bed, covered in a sweat soaked sheets his body turned, and rolled. Sometimes it would remain relatively still the only movement perceptible would be his heaving chest. It was the nightmares of past experiences that haunted this man, as with any man who held responsibility, the decisions of the past affect ones conscience greatly. From skirmishes with pirates, to the duels with the Omni clan and Shogunate of Aurora Prime, to his running fight with the Myrmidons in Yetti Star, to the final and desperate defense of Thetis agonist the Solar Navy, all there experiences haunted his dreams, it was those experiences of the past few days that haunted his thoughts this night…
“Eric…The fate of our people now rest in your hands” Supreme Admiral Vigilance told his former student. His voice was weak, the man of the view screen was the shadow of his former self, his body as broken as his stricken flagship. “We tried to stop them…we failed…so many of us fought…so many of us are now gone perished in the test. ..Let us not forget what occurred here today Eri-“The CNS Constitution the mighty flagship of the Commonwealth Navy disappeared from existence as it finally succumbs to its wounds.
Leaving a lone man among inside a battle damaged bridge, the new protector of an entire nation, fighting a foe whose attack he could not stop. The ship shook as it took fire.
“Fleet orders! Redeploy alongside the Solar Navy’s flanks target their ships, if they want this system by Tester they will pay for it!” The battle continued to rage and death was dealt to both sides of the fight.
He awoke minutes later short of breath, sitting up in his bed his body covered in a cold sweat he looked out his quarters window, into the deep expanse of space and realized he was alone.

Admiral Strength navigated his way through the corridors of his flagship. Battle damage was evident throughout the corridors, priority was to repair hull integrity, weapons and propulsion, not the aesthetics of the corridors.
He walked into the Officer’s Mess which was all but empty at this early hour. He gathered a simple meal of oatmeal and juice and ate it silently. But not everything was quiet, the only other person in the mess hall was a young female midshipwomen, who wept to herself in a dark corner of the mess hall.
Even in her gloomy state the middy moved quickly to jump to attention, Strength beat her to it though preempting her with a wave of the hand.
“As you were Midshipwoman-?”
“Y-Yearns Sir.” The midshipwomen responded with a husky voice.
“Why are you crying?” Strength asked not really accustomed to being so sensitive.
“W-Well sir when the battle was being fought I did the best I could, that is until ensign Gerald was wounded, I tried to get him to sick bay but he died as I tried to get him there sir. When he died I just dropped to the deck and stayed there sir I didn’t even try to resume my post, I just couldn’t move Sir.” She told Strength.
“I see, You have a problem Yearns, its not that you are scared, or a coward, or have failed in your duty to the Commonwealth, We all have had your problem before, you see you have Hope. You actually believe you hope that you will survive this war. As long as you have that hope you will not be able to function properly in battle. There will always be a part of you that will hold back involuntarily to satisfy the need for self preservation that your hope brings, you don’t want to die. What you do not understand is that your already dead. You, me, all those around us are dead, once you recognize that fact of life, you will finally be able to function properly and be able to carry out your duty no matter the cost.” That being said Strength exited the mess.

“So Where Do we stand?” Strength asked as he poured himself another steaming cup of coffee.
“Better off then our initial estimates of losses sir.” Answered Commander Tanne, commenting on the effective fighting power of the Commonwealth Navy after its death match with the Solar Navy just a week previous. “The CN’s suffered about 80% casualties in the Second Battle of Thetis. We have lost five squadrons of the wall completely with another two seriously damaged leaving us with just under 20 dreadnaughts each damaged to some extent. On the positive side of things we do have twenty-four BC(p) functional, and our entire CLAC force as the carriers withdrew from the battle after launching their LACs. Of the Thirty battleships that participated in the battle only 7 remain combat effective, two of those are so much floating slag. Of the 18 squadrons of battle cruisers only 6 remain combat effective. I fear also our remaining screen units suffered terribly from the vortex strikes of the 450 screening units that we started the battle with less then a hundred remain. Altogether that leaves us with about a hundred fifty ships to oppose any future incursion.”
“How are the rescuer ops fairing planet side?” Strength now asked.
“The city is effectively ruins sir, there was just over a billion people in the city when the Behemoth stuck. Now we all know how large Arduous City was and most of its citizens had sought shelter. Over a million have been rescued from the outlying shelters, however we are stretched too thin we can not hope to rescue all the potential survivors unless we get some help.” Stated Captain Benall who was the Liaison with the planet side response teams.
A new voice commented from the other end of the table, it belonged to Commodore Brooks recently returned from the battle of Gregor. “No matter how many of our people we pull from the rubble the one thing that is certain is that we can no longer safely live on the surface of Thetis. We must relocate all of our people to the sister planet. I suggest that we send use the evacuation fleet to begin to transfer refugees to the sister planet as quick as possible, its getting nasty down there.”
Nasty was an understatement. Behemoth’s impact shot massive amounts of dust into the atmosphere blocking out the sun. Parts of the polar ice caps melted flooding wiping out many costal towns in essence it was a nuclear winter that would last at least a century, maybe longer.
“I want all ships that are able to divert all efforts to evacuating the planet, Home Fleet will act as a ferry, and we must save as many of our people as we can. We all know our duty let’s be about it. For Honor!” Strength said with well strength and conviction.
“For Thetis!” echoed the reply to the oath of Loyalty. With that all the officers departed to be about the numerous tasks that awaited them.
OOC2: Never before have I attempted post of this scale there is so much I must discuss and RP so if this wanders well my own noobishness there. Suffice it to say Thetis and my nation in general just got kicked in the nuts by New Ortaga, though we punched him in the noise, everyguy noise what he did to us is worse then what we did back. We hurt him, he crippled us…
