Kanabian aid to Socotran Insurrection
The guided missile cruiser Aurora, newest ship in the Kanabian Navy, anchored off the coast of the island Socotra, waiting for further orders.
Within the past few weeks, a communist insurrection has crippled the control of the ruling warlord over the island, and the Kanabian military has been supporting the rebel forces through small arms shipments, as it is in our interests to support an uprising against a ruthless dictator.
The warlord has control of the northern town of Hadibu, and the village of Suq. The rest of the island is under rebel control.
Other nations are asked to avoid entering the area for their own safety.
(OOC: I don't know if anyone claims this island...and I doubt it, so all are welcome to join on either side)

The People of "The Holy Republic of The Transendent" would like to offer aid to the civilian population of the Island of Socotra. We must stress that we are unable to send military arms to any party involved in this conflict due to own governments stance on Arms :)
Civilian aid ships and aircraft can be granted access, but be advised that we do not guarantee their safety if they wish to dock at or fly over areas controlled by the warlord.

Drabikstan fully supports the communist revolutionaries in their attempt to achieve social change and overthrow a brutal warlord.
Insurrectionists have launched an attack on the outskirts of Hadibu, capturing the military airfield there, but suffered fairly heavy casualties.
A squadron of Kanabian MiG-29M's is to be located there if it can be kept secure.

*** Telegram to the President of the Socialist Workers Democracy of Kanabia from Drabikstani Foreign Ministry ***
Comrades,
We have witnessed the revolutionary uprising against the brutal dictatorship in the island nation of Socotra. We believe socialist revolution must be supported no matter the cost and therefore, we have also begun to provide military aid to the rebels.
However, the struggle for communist revolution in Socotra is far from over. The ongoing fighting is destroying the country and causing suffering for the people. Swift action is needed to remove the current brutal regime from power and complete the revolution.
Therefore, we propose a military intervention by both Kanabia and Drabikstan in favour of the communist rebels. This intervention will bring stability back to the country and remove the despots from power.
We await your reply.
In the name of global socialism,
Natalya Simonova
Foreign Minister of the United Socialist States of Drabikstan

We accept. We are deploying special forces divisions by air transport now. The opposition is weak and disorganised and mainly armed militiamen.

We only have a limited ability to project military force beyond our own region. Therefore, we will require assistance if we are to deploy forces to the combat zone.
You may have use of two squadrons of KT-220 transport aircraft. (Similar in capability to the C-130.)

We have began deploying ground troops to Socotra using the KT-220s and our own An-12s.
We are deploying around 2000 troops to the combat area.

Drabikstan deploys troops to southern Socotran
By DRABIKSTAN SOCIALIST NEWS
Around 2000 Drabikstani troops have begun arriving on the south side of the island of Socotra to support communist revolutionaries fighting the dictatorship that controls the north side of the island. Drabikstani An-12s and Kanabian KT-220s began landing Drabikstan's troops in the southern territories. Drabikstani MiG-23s have also been deployed to a communist airforce base to provide air support.
The government of north Socotran has yet to make an official statement on the deployment. However, the government has been isolated in the capital of Hadibu with a blockade around the city. It is possible the regime has been cut off from outside communication.
Drabikstan's president Xer Kibard stated the regime controlling north Socotran must stand down or face military action. North Socotranian officials claim the governments of Drabikstan and Kanabia are violating Socotran's sovereignty by intervening on behalf of the communist forces in the south.

"Today, the people of Socotra fought for social revolution and freedom by establishing a people's parliament in the south of Socotra. For too long, our small island nation has been plundered and exploited by a brutal mafia regime in the north of the county. This regime is controlled by the rich criminal elite who exploit our island's natural resources for their own personal wealth. They use thugs and the military to silence the people's call for freedom. They get richer while we, the masses, live in poverty. However, today the people let their voice be heard. Today we fought back and begun a revolution against the ruling regime. For several months our brave communist revolutionaries have been fighting the regime in Hadibu in an armed struggle. The struggle is not yet over but today we have achieved a major victory in the name of freedom and social change.
Our forces have today answered the people's call for revolution by establishing a socialist revolutionary government in the south of Socotra. This new government will address the needs of the people and return our island's wealth to the masses. This is South Socotra's declaration of independence from the mafia regime in the north. Our new government pledges freedom and equality for all. By following the path of communism, we believe power will be returned to the masses.
South Socotra seeks international recognition from other nations and appeals for support in our struggle to rid the north of the regime controlling it. South Socotran's declaration of independence is only the first step. We plan to continue the armed struggle against the junta in the north and reunite the entire island under a people's government. We pledge that Socotra will be not divided for long. Just as the people of Vietnam reunited under a socialist government, we shall do the same.
In the name of social justice and freedom, this revolution will not end until the entire island of Socotra is free."
- Jose Ramos Voronin, leader of the Socotran Socialist Revolutionary Front (SSRF)

1,000 of our Special Forces will arrive within 25hours with Learjets [Planes]. Say an Airport, what is controlled by rebels.
Also, some of us naval forces has reported as volunteers.
2 Nimitz Carriers, loaded with Harrier II+ fighters are incoming.
I hope you can ships to guard those carriers, when they are there.
20 Kidd Class DDG's, 5 Grishas & 4 Kirov CGN's are escorting Carriers to there, but they will return.
Carriers ETA is 36 hours.
Negative, turn your jets around. The only airfield on the island is near Hadibu, and we cannot guarantee their safety. We managed to land 3 MiG-29's there, however, one was hit by a shoulder launched SAM, believed to be an SA-7, and moderately damaged. We won't risk further aircraft, especially transports.
Your ships however, can be protected by our navy.

If it was shoulder launched, Learjet should handle one hit, but anyway. I guess there are much free space, we could get 500 of those forces by paradrops. If you say coordinants/show the place and they'll come there. Anyway. Half of planes can paradrop soldiers.
And those soldiers are really good, very good training.

OOC: Yeah, but if they are hit and end up crashing on the runway, theres no way to clean up the mess.
IC: Drop forces 30km due west of Qaduninhu for rendezvous with Kanabian Naval special forces.

Inbredia 88
23-08-2004, 18:19
the nation of Inbredia 88 has elected by an overwhelming majority to send troops to defend the North Socotranese government in response to un called for aggression from the oppressive nations of Drabikstan and Kanabia.
the communist rebels have been committing atrocities against pro-North citizens who have been trapped in the South, with little or no action from Drabikstan and Kanabia. the only confirmed reaction from Kanabian soldiers was to ask the rebels to keep the noise down if they were going to HAVE to shoot those Northerners...
2 battalions of 1000 Inbredian Marines are being deployed to aid the Northern Government in exile. armed with GPMGs and SA-80 assualt rifles, our marines are well prepared and are mainly positioned in and around the Northern Parliament in Exile.
further more the Inbredian Oppressive News has quoted the Inbredian Defence Minister, Quodros Marin-Theeball, as saying that Drabikstan and Kanabia "smelled".
a tense stand off ensues as both sides exchange insults and challenge each other to withdraw previous comments about their mothers.
the situation is tense.

Drabikstan warns Inbredia
By DRABIKSTAN SOCIALIST NEWS
Kibardograd - Drabikstani President Xer Kibard dismissed Inbredia's allegations of human rights violations in South Socotra and warned the government of Inbredia not to deploy troops in defence of North Socotra.
"The criminal regime ruling north Socotra is not worthy of protection and we warn the Inbredian government against deploying force to the region," the President stated.
We ask the nation of *ahem* Inbredia to document and provide evidence detailing human rights abuses; we can certainly provide examples for the Warlord's government...for example, torturing prisoners using blowtorches...gangrape of women and children...forcing men about to be executed without trial to dig their own graves...again we ask for evidence that the communists have done such as well.
OOC: Are your guys already in the country? I don't see how they got past my naval task force...care to elaborate?
My 500 Special Forces men are there, take care of them, and use them well.
We keep control of Nireva's Carriers. Harrier II+ are pretty good planes, and Carriers do have couple of Mi-8 helicopters for rescue missions, but I wouldn't use them at the first place.
But Carriers will hold their position at there. Call in air strike, if needed, they may come handy.
Understood. Kanabian men will reach rendezvous point with your men in 1 hour.
