In response to the recent threats to Commonwealth territories, the Navarre Naval Yards were asked to design and build a ship that would be fast, light, easy to mass produce, well-armed, and easy to maintain. The ship would primarily be for service in the Commonwealth navies. The original plans were drawn up over a period of three months and after many more weeks of arguing over issues varying from the designation name, to the armaments, to the power plant, the design of the 3K-04 was finally agreed upon. The ship would be intended primarily for use as a convoy escort and blockade runner. It would have weapons and combat systems very similar to the Curtis Fabus Battleships, yet the number and size of these weapons would be greatly scaled down. The engineers nicknamed it, “Curtis junior”.
