ooc: This is the thread for whatever goes on at the Andaluciaen Meganuke test. This is for LETI and associated nations only. This includes the Great Lakes regions basically. Soooo...

ic:

*Supreme Consul Brandt begins to greet the guests at the Harrison Nuclear Test Facility in the Southern Andaluciaen Basin*

S.C. Brandt: Welcome, welcome, today you will be seeing a demonstration of the future of warfare. Just so you know, we have a schedule of sorts, first we will have Dr. Schnorkel explain the weapons' design, followed by a demonstration of the impactor laser, then we will test the weapon. After the test we will have refreshments and socializing time. Then, when you wish to leave, don't forget your goodie bags, those have many nice things in them!

*Dr. Schnorkel steps up to the stage, and begins to speak, there are diagrams of the bomb on an overhead projector, although, they are very cartoony*

Schnorkel: As you can zee, zis diagram shows how zee Ueberkraftigatombombe vill verk. In zee mittel you zee ze hydrogen. Zee hydrogen is held in place vis zee containment lazers, ven zee bomb is ready to explodieren, zee impactor lazers vill activate. Zey vill make zee hydrogen denser und denser until zee fuzion begins, and zen, zee Ueberkraftigatombombe vill kapooey!

*Former Supreme Consul von Beppler steps up to the stage*

von Beppler: Thank you for that...er...interesting explanation Dr. Schnorkel. We have arranged for a test of one of the impactor lasers to occur right here, if you'd look this way...(he points towards a machine, holding something that resembles a laser pointer pointed at a concrete block, the device activates, and there is a loud crash as the piece of concrete block is thrown backwards, with a "crater" in it)

von Beppler: Very impressive, very impressive, now we will begin to darken the windows, the blast from the Meganuke is very bright, so this is a precaustion for your safety. Also, an hour after the blast we will take a crawler out to the center of the blast to see how much of the post we put in is left! So, the blast should occur shortly.

*sitting towards the middle of the room, Dr Julius Caesren takes out is Tablet PC to take notes... he raises his hand to ask a question*

Dr. Caesren: Yes.. I have a few questions before we start.... How many Hydrogen Atoms are used in your explosive.. and what is the projected fallout, or is this more a neutron bomb type?

*Caesren jots down his notes on his tablet and waits for the answer*

Due to travel constraints, FA delegates are unable to come. They send their appologies.

::Raskalnokov and Watson are sitting in the back, hardly comprehending much of this. Their scientist, Dr. Nortune Bledavik on the other hand seems much more interested in the project. He scribbles down notes furiously as things are explained to him.::

Watson: I don't understand it Dimitri.

Nortune: Oh, but it iz so simple! A very simple concept!

Watson: If it's so simple why haven't the Americans come up with it yet? I'm still not convinced...

Raskalnokov: There's something fishy going here for sure.

::As Dr. Caesren finishes his question, the door opens, Eddie, Will, John, and Smucker come in. They talk to the first Andaluciaens they see::

Eddie: Sorry we're late! Have we missed much? I'm Dr. Fuddleduddy from DOS, and these are my associates...

*Sitting about 6 to the left and one back of the Edenstein Delegate, Thomas Oscar Morrow sits jotting down notes on a special laptop. He seems intrigued by this Meganuke of sorts. Being one of Confeds leading engineers, the advancement of super weaponary is something that needs to be researched.

He listens to the Dr.'s speech, trying to calculate the amount of hydrogen you would need when the DOS members walk in. The speakers are done with for the moment for so he slips the laptop into a bag and slings it onto his shoulder and walks over to the DOS delegates.*

T.O.: Your from Samsylvannia you said? I thought I knew all the top engineers in DOS, is Dr. McCarthy coming or has he moved on, I haven't seem him in over a year since project Deathgrip?

*Dr. Schnorkel responds to the question posed by Dr. Caesren*

Dr. Schnorkel: Zere are approximately, vell, for zee scientists, Avogadro's nummer verse.

von Beppler: We also don't believe that there will be any fallout, but we are not totally sure about that. Now, if you could all please look out the window, it is heavily tinted, so if you are unable to see through it, just look at the red dot, that is a little to the right of where the blast will occur.

Brandt: Now, we have the countdown. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, detonate!

*From a point to the left of the blast, a point of light expands, it illuminates the entire landscape through the darkened window. It rapidly expands to a point just two feet from the window and recedes*

von Beppler: There you have it folks!

::Eddie answers Morrow::

Eddie: Well, unfortunately Dr. McCarthy had other plans which I can't disclose at this point, I can merely say it has to do with DOS;s isolationist binge of late. But he is doing quite well. He mentioned that you might be coming.

::They stop as the blast detonates. John jumps back::

John: Geeze! That was close!

::Over at the HO side, Watson is detting a little disturbed::

Watson: Close doesn't even begin to describe that! What was that, 3 feet away from us?

Nortune: Very well calculated!

Watson: And very scary for us! What was the point of that?

Raskalnokov: I have to be dreaming. How is this even possible?

*The Supreme Consul Speaks again*

Brandt: Dr. Schnorkel, that was very impressive, wasn't it everyone? Now, you are probably wondering why we had the blast come so close to the bunker window. The reason is to demonstrate how much control we can exercise over this device. With the two variables of the laser pressure and the amount of hydrogen in the device, we can control the size of the blast to within a foot.

Now, this weapon is amazingly simple seeming, but the real key to its' creation was lack of treaty regulation. Andaluciae has never signed a treaty against WMD research, as such, we were able to branch off into areas others haven't even thought of. Plus, we have the slightly insane genius of Dr. Schnorkel, which doesn't ever hurt.

These devices do take a long time to create though, we expect to be finished with 20 by the fifteenth of next month, and right now we have 7.

Now for the matter of the goody bags. All of you will be receiving armored suitcases when you leave, these suitcases will have all of the scientific data acquired from the meganuke. They will also contain partial plans for a meganuke as well, with full designs for the laser impactors, and the detonation system. You are doubtlessly wondering "why". Well, we feel that the best way to keep LETI safe is MAD. And if everyone has meganukes, then no one will want to use them. At the pace before our development, it looked like several nations might stand a chance of creating their own, while everyone else was left in the dark. We didn't believe that this was good, as such, you hopefully see our reasons.

Now, I'd like to thank you all for joining us, and if you'd like to remain in Andaluciae for a discussion of arms control, We'd be glad to put you up for a while, so thank you.

::Watson stands befuddled by what he has just heard::

Watson: I.. this is, ridiculous! How...

Raskalnokov: Very effective though! MAD is what keeps LETI from destroying itself...

Nortune: Brilliant! Brilliant!

::Across the room Eddie, Will, Smucker, and John are receiving their goodie bags. They thank the Andaluciaens, then leave the meeting::

Eddie: This is amazing!

John: Well, remember, it's not the full plans, we still have to figure it out.

Will: That won't take long though. That does help us out. But what's Slotter going to do with a meganuke?

Morrow picks up the goodie bag. He looks inside to see everything is intact.

T.O.: *To himself* Must run...

He leaves quickly back to his waiting jet.

*Dr. Caesren applauds at the test, and takes notes...*He looks in his goodie bag and relizes that many of the parts in the bag are indentical to Edensteins H.O.U.N.D. II weapon, he closes up the bag and then takes one of the drinks... he sips it nervously and then sends a signal into Edenstein C&C....*

--Back at C&C--

*General Carville with Edensteins "Penguin Nest" a think tank of sorts gets a simple message transmitted from Caesren*

Caesren: Confirmed, test sucessful, all signs point to Yes...

*Carville almost drops his cigar, he wals over to the "Red phone"*

Carville: Get me the Emperor.....
