Lasatanian Foreign Ministry, Korova
Molotov sat in a comfortable leather armchair in the reading room of the Ministry's library. Stale smoke filled the room and the only noise was the ticking of the clock high upon the wall. He leafed through a copy of the Tribune, nothing in particular grabbing his attention. He gave out a sigh and stood, leaving the paper on the chair.. unbeknown to him an article sat face up, its headline read Government of Outer Oceania Threatened by Rebels
Outside the reading room two Kommissars waited for him, resplendent in their long leather trenchcoats, black hats and silver trim. Molotov was unfazed by their presence, as Foreign Minister he was pretty much untouchable, unly the Marshal himself could order his arrest and since they were on the best of terms any nasty surprises were unlikely.
"Komrades, how may I be of assistance?"
The taller of the two approached him,
"Sir, we have been ordered to escort you to LasIntel headquarters by the Marshal of the State. I have been issued with a dossier for you to read on the way. Sir!"
"Thank you Komrade. Very well, let's be on our way."
The three men walked down the ornate corridor of the Ministry Building, which was once a countryside residence of a rich city merchant and was one of the first buildings seized during the Revolution.
Minutes later, Molotov sat in the back of the limousine and opened the dossier and took out the first document
Summary of interim report on Outer Oceania
Since July 2003 the Lasatanian Government has been provided funding to the Oceanian People's Liberation Army (OPLA), a socialist liberation group fighting to found a Socialist state. In recent months the group has made considerable gains in both territory and support among the population and is now a major threat to the government of Oceania. In response to this threat, our agents have discovered that the government of Oceania is set to appeal for international assistance in order to put down the rebellion.
Our position cannot be clearer, OPLA controls a sizeable portion of the eastern side of the island of Outer Oceania. They can defend their position for a further two months given their current level of arms and supplies. After that the rebellion will be crushed. If this happens our position as the major sponsor of the rebels will become evident.
This leaves us with two options:
1) We call for talks to come to a peaceful settlement
2) We deploy our forces in support of the rebels and seize control of the nation before outside help arrives.
LasIntel recommends following the second option. Oceanian forces are poorly trained, ill equipped and their moral is low. A mass landing and rapid advance from OPLA territory will secure power for the Socialist party in the country. As a result we can extend our presence into this region by installing a puppet government of our choosing. This will also give us an extended strategic reach through air and naval bases on the island.
At that Molotov stopped reading and looked out onto the rainwashed streets.. It was going to be a long meeting, that was for sure.
Al-Sabir
19-08-2004, 14:00
Khaled Rashid Brahim, one of the most influental persons in the Arab world as the President of Al-Sabir, stared out of the glass window of his office, measuring nearly ten feet in height. The rest of the room was empty, an oakwood desk, a blue sofa and two towering bookshelves along the walls excluded. Shifting in his leather chair, Khaled's mind was dazed by thoughts, thoughts of politics and war, as always. An enormous responsibility rested on his broad shoulders, one that made him look like an old man while he was just in his mid-forties. He got up, lit a cigar and hurried out of his office, through the gigantic pinewood double doors, descending down the marble staircases and continuing through the labyrinth of passages and hallways to a room filled with the sound of voices, but as he entered all fell silent.
"Let's get down to business, gentlemen,"
Khaled said, situating himself in a blue, plush chair at the head of a elongated, metal table. He surveyed the men assembled in the room through the thick glasses he just got out of his pocket. There were five of them, all wearing new, black suitcoats, neat blue or black neckties and immaculate white shirts. They all clearly exuded power, but they didn't look as self-confident and at ease as the President did.
"Very well, Mr. President, I'd like to begin with my tidbits, we are having the usual shit evolving, nothing special, but in the long row of socialist rebels trying to overthow their corrupt government, one might actually be beneficial for us, if we assist the right side,"
Farid, the skinny Minister of Foreign Affairs, said, his tanned handsome face glowing red of anxiety, yet he was able to control his nerves
"What makes you think this could be possibly beneficial? I mean, look at previous wars we've fought, financial disasters without achieving anything really, except maybe for a lot of flag-draped coffins arriving at Lance Point,"
"Resources, Mr. President, the military victory should be easy, the Government forces are ill equiped, poorly trained.."
"Wait, Farid, before we go talking about resources, which obviously should be our motivation, according to you, you said something about a military victory involving ill equipped, poorly trained government troops? Are you talking about supporting socialists?"
"I am, Mr. President, but, if we do this right, we stab those socialist bastards in the back and set up some puppet regime to manage the resources and provide some economically very beneficial flow of money right into our pockets,"
"Interesting, Farid, but this might be a little risky with all those Arab haters populating the world currently, we shouldn't try them, so, keep monitoring the situation for news, but I'm sure some other fish might go for the bait, when they do, let's see if they get away with it, if they do, we stab them both in the back, shouldn't be a problem,"
Khaled dominantely ended the conversation and made the decision by himself. He sipped some coffee from his cup and lit yet another cigar from the casket he had taken from his office, containing a vast supply of fine Cuban cigars.
"All right gentlemen, let's continue with internal business now, I've had it with all those would-be dictators who are not even able to control their own citizens,"

LasIntel Headquarters, Neirstein...
"Ah Komrade Molotov, I see you have seen fit to join us...", exclaimed General Morosov sat at the head of a long table..
"Apologies Komrade, but this incessant rain made it hard for the driver to get here any quicker..", Molotov meekly replied..
"Of course, Molotov, I tease", beamed Morosov standing up to embrace Molotov in a bear hug, "Komrade! let us drink, for there is much to plan.."
"Indeed sir, indeed.."
At the table sat the various chiefs of staff and the chief Kommissar, Ernst Yelanet, one of the most feared men in Lasatania and head of the country's intelligence agencies, Molotov also saw two men he didn't recognise, their faces seemed foreign..
"Ah, I forgot! We have guests Komrade, I must introduce you..", Morosov gestured towards the two men, "This is Komrade Wilson and Komrade Tenneson, of OPLA, they are here to brief us about the situation.."
Molotov nodded towards the men, "Komrades, I hope we can be of help.."
"Anyway, enough introductions, let's get down to business..", Morosov said shoving an overspilling glass of vodka into Molotov's hand..
Molotov took his seat at the table next to Molotov..
Wilson and Tennenson stood and moved towards a screen, the lights dimmed and a map appeared..
Wilson began, "Komrades, we are here, as you know, to discuss the liberation of Outer Oceania.. For the past two years our men, equipped with weapons supplied by your government and funds from your country's AusLas organisation, have been fighting to establish a Socialist state."
Tennenson interjected, "... and with considerable success as you can see.."
He pointed at the area held by OPLA, it was sizeable thought Molotov, but as far as he could see rather barren.
"But this success has made it harder for us to continue the fight. The military though demoralized has started to hit back at civilians within our territory with bombing raids. In addition to this, the government is set to make an internatinal appeal for help and we doubt we can hold out for long if this happens.."
"Which is where we come in I take it?" Morosov declared..
"Exactly Komrade.. We currently hold the port of New Stanley, from here it is possible to land an army of liberation..", replied Tennenson..
"Very good Komrades, very good..",declared General Morosov, "we are pleased with this situation and now we must make plans.. Gentlemen, what is our strategic situation?"
Admiral Sergei Korskorsky, head of the People's Navy was first to respond.
"Sir, the Revolutionary fleet can escort our landing force and be in place within two weeks.. The Expeditionary Fleet is 200km off the coast of the island. I suggest we keep it there for now, just in case we have to provide protection to OPLA forces in the meantime.."
Marshal Andreas Protepkin spoke next,
"Sir, we have already drawn up detailed plans for our deployment in the region, we will provide you with an exact count of the units we shall send but I can currently say that we will be sending around 14 divisions; two tank divisions, one marine, one airborne, two armoured infantry, two SAM divisions, two artillery divisions and four logistics divsions in support. I think this will be sufficient to cause the overthrow of the government.."
Morosov smiled, replying, "Very good Marshal, very good.. and what of the air force?"
Marshal Kovolich Prokayev replied,
"Sir, we are currently calculating our deployment strength, suffice to say we shall have more than adequate air cover for operations. We shall concentrate our efforts on close support and strike missions and I have already ordered reconnaisance flights to begin immediately. Also, we shall place four squadrons from Long Range Aviation on standby for cruise missile strikes and the like."
Morosov gleamed with enthusiasm..
"Very well Komrades, we appear set for our foreign excursion.. I expect you to come up with a detailed invasion strategy within the next forty-eight hours. All leave is cancelled and all armed forces are to be put on full alert.. "
All in unison, "Sir!"
"Good, now we can finally make our way onto the world stage and show the strength of Socialism! Dismissed!"

Outer Oceania Air Force Attacked by Lasatanian Fighters
Reports are coming in of an attack by fighters with Lasatanian markings on government bomber aircraft en route to strike against OPLA rebels in the eastern province of Greenveld. Millitary sources state that the bombers, which were on course to attack a rebel arms dump, were attacked by aircraft resembling Sukhoi Su27s and bearing the Red Star normally associated with Lasatania. Casualties are as of yet unknown.
The Foreign Minister condemned the attack, declaring
"Any foreign power that steps in to support the rebels will face the full wrath of our armed forces. We urge all civilised nations who value freedom to support us in our fight against the idealogues."
The Prime Minister has yet to comment on the attack but an announcement is expected soon.
Prime Minister Karlburg walked to the podium slowly and looked to the people there, mostly press.
"People of Outer Oceania, we are under siege by socialist rebels. They seek to take your land and redistribute it among themselves.
We shall fight communism here! This is the front line. Every nation with any interest in the welfare of their people must see that. These rebels here are supported by the international junta of Communist nations and we need assistance.
This republic, if it is to survive, needs military force. We will begin taking foreign volunteers who wish to fight on the front lines against Communism. Also, we call other friendly nations for help in defeating this Red tide.
To the people, stay strong! Fight for your freedom from Communist agression!"
He then turned and walked off the stage as quickly as he came on.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Because of the surprise, many of the old bombers were destroyed. The air force temporarily called for a halt to bombing operations. The OOAF was given orders to escort its bomber flights with their F-4s and F-5s and to consider Lasatanian fighters hostile.

"Comrade admiral! Message from Northern Fleet Headquarters." (Krasnaya Stara. Rubberduckistans northmost port. Closed during winters. ooc-info)
Exited ensign huffed.
Tired looking admiral Vladimirov rose from his bed, and grabbed the message.
"There´s been an attack against Outer Oceanian bombers, and looks like the fighters beared Lasatanian insignia, comrade admiral."
"Thank you ensign. Summon all ranking officers to conference room. We´ll begin meeting at 09:00. Bring lots of tea and coffee. Tell the kitchen to make sandwiches. Well also eat lunch there. Dismissed."
"Presently so, comrade admiral!" Ensign snapped attention and turned to carry out the orders.
Admiral looked the message. His aged face turned from gray to white. He re-read the message, and convinced himself that he was not dreaming. In shower he started to formulate the plan of action.

SITUATION:
Yesterday, at 19:00 local time, our radio-listening station RR-254, picked up the unusual radio activity in eastern part of Outer Oceania. Various fighters attacked OO bombers on their way to support troops fighting against local insurrectionists. Our diplomats also inform us that Lasatania is moving its troops, though there should not be any major military exercize planned.
ORDERS:
RBNF is to move 100 miles range from coast of Outer Oceania, and maintain presence there. Observe and report developments in local situation.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT:
You are not to open fire, unless directly fired, or otherwise threathened with physical harm.

President Steven Duran sat at his desk staring at the large file before him. The meeting was scheduled soon, and he had barely read four pages. He rubed his eyes and started walking towards the drinking cabinet. He opened bottle of seltzer, and poured it into a glass. He quietly sipped his drank while he scanned his office. The Oval Office was filled with paintings, photos, and his old war medals. He sat back down, and rubbed his eyes. He quickly read through another couple of pages. All of this wasn't looking good. By the looks of it they were going to have to assist the Outer Oceania government somehow. He peered at the large sphere shaped clock hung on the wall. The meeting was going to start soon. He quickly gathered the documents, and walked off to the Briefing Room down the hall. Behind him followed the Royal Guards, each ready to defend their leader. He entered the lare room, inside each member of his cabinet sat down. They were talking quietly to each other. He walked down to the head of the large oak table and sat down.
"You all know why we are here today. However I'm sorry to say I only got the new intelligence document roughly ten minutes ago. I'd like to hear what you all have to say about the issue, and what we should do."
There was a peroid of silence until the Secretary of International Affairs spoke up.
"Well Sir, It's a tough situation. The rebels have been pushing back the governments forces little by little. Soon the whole line of defense might collapse. If we assist them we might get drawn into a war, there will be definete losses. If we do not our economy might collapse."
This troubled the President. Either way it's a loss situation. He didn't want his country men to die in a war, but he couldn't let the economy collapse.
"How much money do we have invested in Outer Oceanian businesses?"
The Secretary of Commerce spoke up this time.
"Right now we don't know. But the amount of trade between our two countries are very significant. I'm 90% sure our economy would go into a collapse. We have no choice."
The President shook his head. He had no choice.
"Klington, what do you suggest for support."
Four star General Mike Klington looked up from his memos.
"Well sir, I'd suggest to start off with about a battalion of Red Barons, to help train the Outer Oceania soldiers. Our boys are mighty well trained for this type of fighting. Maybe put some para divisions on alert, just incase. And also sir we currently have reports of Lasatanian(sp?) aircraft going into Outer Oceania's airspace to assist the Socialist Rebels."
This shocked the President, and many cabinet members as well.
"That wasn't in the report!"
"It's new information Sir, I'd suggest we lend some aircraft support."
The President took some time to think.
"Admiral, what can you give us."
"Well sir, the 7th Fleet is the closest combat battlegroup. About a week away. It's a good size force with a big punch. I'd suggest they're kept just outside of OC waters."
"Sounds good. What about long range bombers?"
General McArvy spoke out.
"I could get a squadron of B-52's to assist in bombing operations. But I'd suggest we keep them on ready."
"Good. Jack I want you send a telegram to the Government of Outer Oceania. Tell them of current stance, and measures."
The Vice President nodded and quickly walked off to the communications office. He had the telegram heavily encrypted, and sent it off.
To President Karlburg
Communique From Yelm
"Gooday. We find it in the best interest of both your nation and ours, to send assistance to your nation. We know of the Socialist rebels that threaten your nation and wish to provide you with arms, and Special Forces to help train your men. We are currently mobilizing a small, but powerful force on both air, land and sea to assist you if you call for help.
We will have a naval battlegroup outside your waters within a week to help fight the Socialist rebels.
We await permission to land our soldiers on your soil via C-17. The transports will have a fighter escort. Current estimates until the full battalion of soldiers land are 5 days. We wish you the best of luck.
OCC:The soldiers are strictly for training. We'll be using 11 C-17 for transporting the men.

Captain Efipov smoked heavily. They had been ordered to move closer to the coast of Outer Oceania after incident suspected involving Lasatanian fighters.
"Captain, we intercepted message to Outer Oceanians." Lieutenant Jablonski said, interrupting captains thoughts.
"For who it is?"
"Don´t know comrade captain. It´s heavily crypted, so it might be for the top level."
"Send it to the Aquarium. They will crack the code, hopefully."
(ooc: Yelm, will it be ok if they crack it in time, before you step in, or do I use some random dice rolling to find out how long it takes?"
OOC:Hmm, well the encryption I used isn't a simple one. It's used for top level communications. I think it'd be better if the encryption is not cracked. You should probably detect the incoming C-17's though. Whether you want to engage them is your choice.
Nakadeko
20-08-2004, 06:54
Premier Daniel Adam Sinclair sat down with his cabinet to discuss the issue at hand: Outer Oceania. "All right, people, let's start the ball rolling. Viv?"
Diplomatic Director Vivian O'Leary pursed her lips in thought. "It appears that there is support for both sides of the engagement. It would, however, be characteristic of us to support the capitalist side. Toby?"
Economic Director Tobias Richardson nodded as well. "It will be a costly war, but with some aid and trade agreements, we could make a healthy profit."
Sinclair nodded and turned to his military advisors. "All right, you have the green flag. Any ideas... ah... Warlord, start us off."
Chief Director Adam "Warlord" Winfrey of the Nakadeko Department of National Defense flipped though his manila folder. "It appears that shots have already been fired. Something about Lasatanian aircraft shooting down Republican Oceanic aircraft. We may assume they've chosen their side. Henderson?"
Director Rickard Henderson of the Infantry Corps flipped through his dossier. "The NIC has over six hundred thousand men ready, spread among twelve regiments. We could probably send six regiments without too much trouble, but I highly advise against sending any more. Jackson?"
Matthew Jackson, Director of the Armored Corps, leaned back in his chair. "One 4501-tank regiment of four 1125-tank battalions. We can probably send the whole regiment, as we don't have much use for armor in Nakadeko proper. Two NAC battalions per three NIC regiments. Armor support will be pretty good, but the real problem is going to be getting it all THERE. I'm not sure we have the overseas transportation assets to do that quickly, if at all. We're called a defense department for a reason. Phantom?"
Ethan Pressler of the Navy responded after scanning a tablet of notes. "We can get the Guardsman carrier to fly CAP, and we can put up a screen with our cruisers and destroyers. I reccomend leaving some cruiser and destroyer assets here, along with our Los Angeles submarine. It might make a difference, but it's expensive as hell to run, and due for a drydock overhaul anyhow. Its tender, however, might be refitted for cargo duty, and I know we have... well, we can MAKE room on the ships going out. Fatal?"
Tony "Fatality" Vandbergh, representing the Air Force, nodded once. "If the ground-pounders can set up an airbase over there, we can deploy our combat assets. Our transport wing will be more than happy to help, airbase or not, as long as there's fuel waiting at the other end. Slick?"
Director Andrew "Slick Willie" White was there for the Nuclear Warfare Corps. "I can't see this being any sort an issue for us nuke jockeys. Nothing over there worth blowing a one and quarter billion dollar missile on."
The chain of handoffs had come full circle back to Premier Sinclair. He rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on, and made a snap decision. "Okay, we go. Viv, I want to see you working your ass off getting allies for this op. Check with the anticommunist nations and factions already involved, try and oil the gears with them. I also want you to get the leader of the Republican Oceanists on our side, I need to have landing rights for our forces.
"Dismissed!"
OOC: Quick note on what forces I'll be deploying throughout the entire engagement.
Six infantry regiments - 313,968 fighting men
Entire Armored Corps - 4501 M1A1 Abrams tanks
Two air companies, plus the transport wing of a third air company - 300 F14 Tomcat fighters, 50 F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighters, 75 C-130 Hercules cargo planes
Enterprise carrier with 85 Tomcat fighters, eight Arleigh Burke DDGs, Emory Land tender (cargo-converted for this engagement)
343,637 men total, 1,718,185 in support personnel both on-site and at home
I figure each week, if I'm lucky, I can get in two armor companies of 562 tanks, and one infantry regiment (about 52,328 men). At that rate, my force will be completely deployed in seven weeks, thereabout, once we get the okay for landing forces. It'll take the initial deployment about a week to set up an airbase for refuelling aircraft. Naval forces, however, can move in immediately.
DISCLAIMER: THE PRECEDING TEXT WAS NOT A NUMBER-WANK. IT WAS A PRECISE ESTIMATION OF MY TROOPS THOUGHTOUT THE ENTIRE ENGAGEMENT. WE NOW RETURN TO YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED RP.

Minutes of High Command Meeting 20/08/2004
Present:
Marshal of the State and Party Chairman - General Petr Morosov
Commander Lasatanian Air Force - Marshal Kovolich Prokayev
Commander Lasatanian Navy - Admiral Sergei Korskorsky
Commander People's Revolutionary Army - Marshal Andreas Protepkin
Chief Kommissar - Ernst Yelanet
Foreign Minister - Propoyev Molotov
Initial Deployment Strategy
Motion brought by Admiral Korskorsky calling for the engagement of foreign forces by Expeditionary Fleet. Motion dismissed by General Morosov, who argued that engagement at this point in time would be damaging to the build up forces in the area.
Marshal Prokayev detailed the movement of LAF squadrons from Lasatania to Drabikstan. Onward deployment can take place within the next week. A further six squadrons from Long Range Aviation are currently in the process of preparing for deployment to Drabikstan for use in a long range strike role during hostilities. The Marshal added that the LAF is currently unwilling to deploy more than one Blackbear squadron in the region because of security issues and also the danger of high level technology falling into enemy hands.
Marshal Protepkin gave details of the total number of divisions available for deployment from the People's Revolutionary Army. He provided a figure higher than expected, to which General Morosov commented that it would be best to keep some reserves at hand to facilitate further deployment if needed in the theatre.
Komrade Molotov then discussed the international situation. Support for the Oceanian government was growing and thus it would be imperative for forces to be deployed as rapidly as possible. Molotov suggested the deployment of an airborne battallion to New Stanley to hold the position should need be. This motion was passed with immediate effect. The 54th Batallion of the 17th Airborne Division will be deployed within the next 24 hours.
Kommissar Yelanet detailed various intelligence reports from the region, which are subject to state security laws and are published in a seperate, confidential report.
Meeting was adjourned.

OOC:PAUSE!
OOC: OK who's on who's side? declare yourselves now!
Lasatania: Supporting OPLA rebels.
Also if deployment sizes increase, I will increase the size of my forces to match but! and but! anyone with too much will be slapped down and told to reduce their deployment.. or else I'll be forced to use Max Bygraves.... and that is sick!
Also - keep any combat to a bare minimum right now, the war thread is what that's for, its cool to shoot down a couple of planes to increase tension but apart from that, nothing else - except maybe a car bomb or something..
Remember, when the war starts its going to be pretty rigid in terms of movement.. Also - supreme commanders have to be appointed for Pro-Government forces and 'peace keepers', argue among yourselfs for that and if you can't decide I'll appoint through random numbers..

Emergency meeting of commanders of Armed Forces Branches.
Present: Marshall of Rubberduckistan/Vice-Premiere Duck Tzu
Marshall Voronin of VDV-Airborne Forces
Colonel-General *Censored for security reasons* of MRD
General Nikolayev of Armoured and Infanty Forces
General Vatutin of Artillery and Air Defense
Admiral of Rubberduckistan Kalugin of Naval High Command
Meeting had started with eerie silence. All they had done was to read their reconnaissance reports, and stare the satellite photo with disbelief. Had the world gone mad? Simple insurrection was boiling for major war in the region.
"So, there is no doubt?" Vice-Premiere Duck Tzu asked.
"No, comrade Vice-Premiere. Our signals- and electronic intelligence report 1000% increase in Nakadekonian armys radio traffic. Satellites have picked major troops movements towards the harbours. This too big to be mere training exercize. Also Humint reports indicate that all the leaves were cancelled and reservists called in service." MRD director answered dryly.
General Nikolayev interrupted. "Look at the tank movements. They are going to roll over the entire country. That will be a logistical nightmare. They need to keep their sea lanes open, and that will mean there´s going to be plenty of shooting around. Which, I might add, might hit our own shores too."
"Place VDV on Alert 1 status. Which unit is in Rapid Deployment duty now?" Duck Tzu asked, continuing to scribble his plan for action.
"76th Guards Airborne Division" Voronin answered, and leaned to see what Vice-Premiere had written. "Are you sure, comrade Vice-Premiere?"
"Yes. Send them in after all necessary intelligence gathering is done. I don´t want too many of our men return in zinc coffin. Plus extend Alert 1 to all VDV-divisions, except training division of course. Also send written message to HQ of 20th Guards Army. They´ll be on stand-by, if things get really hot. I´ll adress UN about this situation."
oocskaia: Forces to be deployed in order.
166th Naval Infantry Battalion (600 men, 14 T-55M2, 50 BTR-80)
76th Guards Airborne Division (7200 men, first without heavy equipment. Followed up later, 350 BMD-1/2)
7th Guards Airborne Division (as 76th)
106th Guard Airborne Division (as 76th)
14th Helicopter Regiment (20 KA-50, 20 MI-24, 40 MI-8)

<New White House, J City>
President Anderson entered his normal morning briefing in his usual cheery manner, a quick "hi" to each person in the room and then trading a joke with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, before picking up his briefing packet and changing his smile for a stern business look.
As he took his seat, this time infront of the massive pine desk in the oval office, he motioned for the National Security Advisor, Elliot Ross, to begin the briefing.
"Ok. First up we have the developing problems in Outer Oceania. SecDef had a brief on this last night but didnt think you would want to be worried, however since then things have escalated somewhat. Approximately six hours ago we had unconfirmed reports of Lasatanian Air Force units aiding Socialist rebels by shooting down several government bombers, precise details are unavaliable but the reports have been confirimed and a KH-10 picked up the wreckage of one crashed bomber on its cameras early this morning.
A pass over Lasatania by a KH-11 and then KH-10 combined with ELINT operations has shown that there is the beginning of movement of military resources in that country. Primarily we picked out thermal images of several large ships engines blossoming as they were turned on and made ready for sail. IA analysits speculate that this is for a deployment to Outer Oceania as currently the Lasatanian military has no planned military exerices or deployment that we are aware of, bar air units in Drabikstan.
Through backhand dimplomatic channels we have learnt that several foreign governments have started initiating support for both sides. Most interestingly the socialist rebels seem to have more support at the moment, and will have an advantage for some time as pro-government forces struggle to get into the region."
"Damn commies are up to their old tricks again"
The President wasnt particularly fond of Communists, although several governments of that type were allied to the USIH it was only with great hardship that diplomats had persuaded the President to sign the alliances.
"So it would seem Mr President" said the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, 5 Star Army General Siler, the yellow tank patch of the 1st Armoured Division clearly standing out on the left shoulder of his olive drab uniform.
"Well then what can we do about it, or what can't we do about it" replied the President
"Opinion polls are high. 63% of the people think you are doing a good job, the economy is strong, we have no particular links with Oceania but whose to say that that will last?" The White House Chief of Staff asked. He continued.
"There are no real political obstructions to going in and helping then, Congress will jump when you say boo, the Senate aren't big fans of communists and neither are the people. If we dont act then there would be small-scale protests at letting another state fall to 'the dark side' as the Post calls it. It would hurt polls, not deciesively so, but noticably."
"So no political obstructions against, but if we didnt we would feel the kick back."
"Yes Mr President"
"Ok. Will what can we put there to help the Government out?"
"Sir we have multiple options. Firstly naval. Striker and Conqueror are currently within four days sailing of being a sensilble distance out from Oceania. Thats two full CBG's with a MAU (Marine Amphibious Unit). The MAU would be good for getting a beachhead and keeping it secure whilst we land more troops."
He turned a page in his dossier
"Air Force. Just about anything thats needed can be sent, we can base B-2's, B-1's, B-6's, B-52's and F-117's out of here or Redge and get them there with minimal tanker support. Fighters and the like would have to be flown out there to be used from airstrips on the Island."
Again another page turn
"Army. Again allmost anything. XII Corps is already at sea onroute to McLeod, however with the situation there its highly unlikely that they will be needed. I Corps is four days behind them. As you well know Gentlemen, I Corps is the most powerful combat force in the USIH Army. Nearly 1500 MBT's, and nearly a thousand IFV's gives us one hell of a lot of combat power add in the artillery and air units with it and bye bye commies."
This came from a former commander of I Corps, who had been incommand when they had smashed through Insog Provinces forces as they tried to invade Talaax, smashing five enemy armoured Divisions and the same amount of infantry before the war had been ended, plus routing two more and accounting for over 2/3's of the combat kills in that campaign. Many of the men were still in the divisions that constituted the Corps, 1st Armoured, 2nd (Heavy) Armoured, 22nd Armoured, 103rd Mech Infantry, 122nd Mech Infantry.
He continued
"XII Corps isnt exactly a push over either, it would be perfectly suited to defensive or offensive deployment, the boys in the 11th Cavalry dont half pack a punch, 300 Abrams will ruin somebodys year."
He ended that with a smile on his face. As part of a recent program he had taken over as Divisional commander for the 11th Cav and had beaten back the 14th and 15th Infantry Divisions in a mock-up assualt on a prepared defensive position, heavily utilising combined services liason.
"Ok Will, we all know about your little trip to Fort Innings. We'll go ahead as you outlined there with increased satellite surveillance . Thank you Gentlemen."
He stood left the room, followed by the two Secret Service Agents that had been standing in the room throughout the briefing.
President Steven Duran sat at his desk. It was 3:04am, and he exhausted. He sat reading the new report from the Intelligence Center, explaining the escalating issue in OC. Satellite photos showed that Lasatania was mobilizing an impressive force, the only logical reason could be a possible invasion of Outer Oceania. He couldn't let that happen. Suddenly the Secretary of Armed Forces walked in.
"Hey there Daniel"
The President shook hands, and he motioned for Secretary Sparks to take a seat. He sat down and cleared his glasses.
"Sir, the other cabinet members have received the file, and are planning a meeting tomorrow. But we must act now. I suggest a landing force of up to three divisions, including adding a squadron of support aircraft on OC soil, and entering our naval battlegroup in the conflict. We must show we are not scared to fight."
The President took some time to think.
"What about the others?"
"I have informed them and they support me...all of them"
The President couldn't do anything but sign the orders. His whole cabinet believed they should drastically step up their forces.
"Send the telegram to Outer Oceania."
The Secretary of Armed Forces salutes, and walks out.
To Outer Oceania
Yelm Government
"We have evidence that the nation of Lasatania is drastically increasing it's military presence on rebel held territories. We have therefore dramatically increased our military support to your nation. We request permission to land three army divisions, setup an airbase for a squadron of F-16C/D, and to allow our 7th Naval BattleGroup into your waters. Below are the estimated time of arrival"
7th Fleet-4 days
Squadron of F-16-4 days
4th Mechanized Infantry Divisions-9 days
2nd Mechanized Para Division-4 days
12th Infantry Division-6 days
Total Infantry-52,455(includes logistics)
(let me know if these are acceptable. Infantry Divisions aren't very heavily armed so they can be moved pretty quick. Plus we have a large fleet of C-17, and C-5 aircraft. Our fleet was already heading to OC anyway so they're pretty close already. Times are NS time.)

Red Horse #5
The small Red Horse Photo-Reconnaissance Satellite whizzed through space in a steady polar orbit, overseeing pretty much every square meter of the earth. Its advanced electronic eyes lingering over a spectacular landscape of pristine beaches and granite cliffs, meanwhile shooting hundreds of detailed, high-resolution photos, particulary of an island called Outer Oceania.

He gazed at the room's domed ceiling, the oakwood bookshelves and the gleaming white walls, a cigar in his mouth and a glass of fine whiskey on his desk. This wasn't exactly a time Khaled was able to think and act clearly, but he had made an important decision right now. He knew that if Al-Sabir was to refrain from interfering in Outer Oceania, his own wealth would be in danger as well. His country needed a flow of fresh, new money to stimulate the economy and Khaled knew this was right in his reach. He smiled, soon, very soon......
SSN Triumph
Foam formed on the sea water, as suddenly a sleek, black submarine bursted out to the surface, her hull glinting off the sun. Immediately diving again, the submarine left no traces of its presence and continued westwards underwater.
Carefully finding its way through unpredictable waters, the Triumph was not alone, having the Tactician, the Tsunami and the Torbay at her side. The four Leviathan Class Submarines, hugging the countours of the underwater mountains found in the Atlantic, paced through the deep waters, crawling southwards, towards Outer Oceania.

Four MI-26 Transport Helicopters approaching Carrier "Sitting Duck."
"Ducks Nets, Zhenja One. Requesting permission to land? Over."
"Zhenja One, Ducks Nest. You are cleared to land. Approach from north, and be careful, wind is strong. Over."
"That´s a roger Ducks Nest, Zhenja One out. Zhenja Flight, Zhenja One.
Follow me, landing approach from north. Keep your distance. Over."
"Zhenja Two, roger, over."
"Zhenja Three, got it, over."
"Zhenja Four, roger, over."
Four helos settled to flight deck, and service crews scurried to unload tightly sealed containers, which were quickly taken below. 60 quite ordinary looking men got out from fourth copter, and marched purposefully toward deck officer.
"Captain-Lieutenant Pomovski. Welcome to "Sitting Duck", comrade....?"
"Thank you Captain-Lieutenant, I trust you have your orders?"
"Yes. We are give you Hangar 25, and keep our crew away from there."
"Quite so. Please understand that less you know what we are doing,

Countless stars sparkled in the sky, their light glinting off the waters of the sea. A few sea gulls and puffins, skimming over the wavetops, were the only living creatures in miles. Far beyond the horizon, a number of silhouttes were visible, looking lifeless and cold, cutting through the seas and leaving nothing but foam behind as a sign of their passage.
The centerpiece of the constellation was a Nebuchadnezzar II Class Escort Aircraft Carrier, not exactly buzzing with activity as her aviation wing, a strange collection of older, inferior aircraft as the MiG-29K and the AV-8B Harrier, scraped together from desert storages, were lined up for flight, having armament trolleys and fuel hoses assembled, spred abandoned over the flight deck. The captain had suddenly called for an NBC drill and the ground crew had run for the safety of the chemical protection systems, located in ventilated compartments under the upper deck.
Two Carrack Class CGs, located adjacent to the aircaft carrier, had a smoothened teardrop superstructure built on the flat-iron hull. These stealthy ships, worn-out yet still functional, provided excellent air defense cover for the small task force, disposing of an upgraded variant of the CIRRUS air defense radar and 256 VLS cells.
Parralel to the Carrack Class cruisers were four Sparrowhawk Class DDGs, a scaled down version of the Carrack. Though previously mothballed, these destroyers were put back online for what some called, Taskforce Scrapheap, but these ships were still more than a match for any force out there. It was just the fact that they were outclassed by a newer, nuclear, version of the ship.
Further up the defensive ring, nine Barracuda Corvettes formed the protective ASW shield, their normally distinctive array of aerials and antennas adjusted to the situation, retracted into their stealthy, protective cases. The hull and cubus superstructure were completely smooth and clean, no visible irregularities, which was a necessary feature if the ships were to reduce their RCS.
A collection of helicopters, most of them SH-24H and SH-60 Seahawk Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) helicopters, passively circling overhead, hovering in their large oval racetrack patterns over the flotilla, sometimes lurching out of their orbits and dropping a sonar buoy or lowering their dipping sonar for investigating a suspected contact.
On the bridge of the Illustrious, as the Nebuchadnezzar II was named, Admiral Fahad, recently reduced to the rank of Rear Admiral because of the Gabon disaster, sipped his cup of coffee and seated in his comfortable leather command chair, overseeing much of the bridge and having an excellent view of the seas.
"The ETA to waypoint Bravo is five hours at current speed, sir,"
The young duty officer stated, thereby disrupting the utter silence that had marked this night shift. He was one of the few men currently occupying the bridge and he fulfilled the important task of navigating the ship through these waters as well formally commanding the ship that night.
"Good, I'm going to try if I can catch some sleep, there is a lot of responsibility you carry, Lieutenant, so keep an eye on the ship,"
"Of course, sir, and I would like to thank you again for honouring me like this, I never would've thought I'd command an aircraft carrier, sir,"
"Cut the formal crap, I trust your capabilities, Lieutenant Yusuf, so don't fail me,"
Fahad responded, his inside smiling at the promising young officer. He nodded towards Yusuf, turned his back on him and pacing to his quarters....

A burst of machinegun fire landed amongst the targets bobbing in the waves some 200yards of the starboard side of one of the Wasp Class Assualt ships.
On the deck a squad was set out in firing positions shooting over the side, partly to keep up skill at arms and partly to relieve the boredom of being on a ship for two weeks.
As the M16 and M249 fire continued the commander of the 6th Infantry (Mechanized) Division, Major General Danny McKnight, strode from his helicopter towards the main 'island' of the ship.
As he reached the structure the SH-60 SeaHawk lifted off from the deck and headed back towards its base, onboard the Command Ship Pheonix some 3 miles away.
The General climbed the steel, near-vertical ladders to the bridge of the ship, followed by five of his staff.
When he reached the top his pale blue eyes looked out the large windows at some of the ships arrayed around them.
Only a few hundred yards, off the port side of the ship the Destroyer Robert was thrusting through the waves towards the sinking sun. On the forward launcher hung two SM-2II SAM's with white flags hanging from them, war shots. The forward 5" turret was moving from side to side testing and retesting the mechanism whilst further back the SPS-55 Surface Search radar along with the SPS-48E Air Search Radar dishes were both turning.
Further past it was the shape of another WASP and slightly infront of it the Arleigh Burke class destroyer Stebbins, its SPY radar working simulations of enemy attacks.
Moving onto the bridge wing the General could see the shapes of the two carriers Striker and Conqueror which had recently joined the group. As he watched an aircraft came off the deck of Striker, quickly followed by two more, the silver paint on their wings shinning slightly as they gained altitude.
In the Lead F-14D Super Tomcat Commander Will Jacobs eased the throttles back as he settled into a lazy climb up towards the orbiting Hummer, the nickname for the E2-C Hawkeye, and the current CAP of 3 F-14D's. He looked out the side of his cockpit at the wakes of the ships below, tracking the big assualt ships that were almost as big as his own mothership. As his eyes came back up he gazed at the missiles hanging on his wings, a even mix of AAM-3s, AIM-54 Pheonix's and AIM-9 Sidewinders. These also had white flags fluttering off the nosecones as the fighter shifted slightly in the wind.
Five more Tomcats were standing by on the two carriers at +five, with another Hummer and a Queer, the navy nickname for the EA-6B Prowler AEW, ready to meet any oncoming threat, the whole fleet now at DEF-CON2.

Taskforce Atlas, built around the escort aircraft carrier Illustrious, was expanded with a number of new ships, or submarines to be exact. The Torbay, Tsunami, Triumph and Tactician were now swarming around the carrier battle group, forming an outer defense ring, the sea around the coneshaped "islands" on the back of their cilinder hulls sparkling in the dying sun rays, as darkness slowly settled over the seas.
On the Illustrious, ground crew in fluorescent jackets loitered over the flight deck, having absolutely nothing to do now all aircraft aboard were on patrol.
On the bridge, Admiral Fahad was furious, all the blood in his body streaming to his head, making him look like an overripe tomato.
"Yusuf, get over here,"
He yelled, trying to keep his anger under control.
"Sir,"
Lieutenant Yusuf Mustaffa III saluted stiffly, his gaze resting upon the sea. He looked calm, but adrenaline was pumping through his veins, not knowing what to expect from the Admiral, normally a calm and friendly man.
"Look on the deck, Lieutenant, those men outside are idling, why?"
"Sir, all their work is completed, they have assembled all their tools and are waiting for the returning aircraft to land,"
"I don't care, at least make it look like they have something to do, this is a fearsome aircraft carrier, a blight upon the free world, a tool of one of the most brutal dictatorships in the world! How are we supposed to live up to this reputation when those enlisted men look like they are on some sort of cruise ship? Get them to work, now!"
"Yes, sir,"
Yusuf answered, meanwhile turning his back towards the Admiral and running down the stairs to the flight deck to address the crew chiefs.

At the flight deck of Sitting Duck four helicopters were prepared for the mission. Two were regular RD-27 Anti-Submarine helicopters, but two other were more "specially" prepared. More suitable for doing things unseen.
Reconaissance Commandos were loading their gear, and checking equipment. All standard OO rebel stuff. AK´s PKM´s, etc. And all gear was chosen to mimic them, even though their mission was not combat, but intelligence gathering. All the surveillance and communications equipment were hidden to backpacks.
"Three minutes. Get in." Team Leader shouted, and 16 commandos climbed
aboard.
Flight Leader flashed the signal, and one by one the choppers embarked,
setting into tight formation. They are under strict radio-silence, and are allowed to break it only in dangerous circumstances. All the communications happens with pre-arranged signals with IR-lamp.
Gloomy silence set in, as choppers took off towards southeastern coast of OO.
(ooc: Armanents of the team. 8 AK-74M+GB30 Grenade Launcher. 6 PKM machineguns. 2 SVD sniper rifles. All soldiers have also P6 supressed pistol hidden in backpack.)

Four RD-27 helicopters flew towards Outer Oceanian SE-coast. They kept close formation, so they should appear as two copters.
Heavy rain made the flight dangerous, but these men had trained this approach for years, and were confident of their skills.
At 20 miles off the coast, they dropped below radar level, and two copters carrying Recce-Commandos separated from formation, continuing their low-altitude flight. Two others returned to normal flying altitude, and continued their "patrol."
"Two minutes!" Loadmaster shouted to Recces. Men checked their gear one more time, and loaded their weapons.
"Touchdown in five....four....three.....two....one. Go!Go!Go!"
Recces exited with practiced speed, and whole business took less than 20 secs.
"Ruginin, send the message. Others secure the perimeter" Captain Petrov ordered.
Radioman set up the satellite dish, and sent the scrambled message: "Norppa has landed."

<Carrier IHS Striker. Somewhere in the North Atlantic>
Two C-2 cargo planes came into land on the carriers vast open deck barely two minutes apart.
As they rolled to a stop and were secured, the grey side doors opened and several men stepped out after the crewman who quickly got out of their way.
The men that stepped out were wearing an assortment of T-shirts, mostly civilian, plus jeans and sunglasses. A few wore baseball hats as they picked up their kit and rucksacks and moved towards the island.
The deck crewmen could tell by the way that they walked that they were Army Special Forces. No other men in the services, with the possible exception of fighter pilots walked with such confidence and swagger as these men did, even carrying their heavy kit bags.
As they one by one disappeared through the door to the Island and the below decks the deck crew returned to their work, which mostly meant getting the C-2’s turned around and off the carrier before the next CAP had to go up.
After a quick clean up after the long flight the men changed their jeans for army issue combat trousers, in the wood pattern, and strapped one of their sidearms, in its holster, to their right or left thigh, depending on preference. For most this was an M9 Berreta, however some carried Glock 17s.
They stowed their gear and then headed towards the briefing room, guided by two of the Marines that were stationed on the massive ship, their own pistols hanging on their belts. Most of the special ops now had their sunglasses hanging around their chest, next to their dogtags, and in some cases surfing jewellery.
Nearly an hour later, at the end of the briefing they emerged, carrying maps and papers, and headed back to their cabins to study the plan further and maybe get in a couple of games of cards before they hit the sack. Tomorrow would be weapons drills and fitness, the day after that they would be getting on a couple of helicopters.
As they got back to their cabins their was a roar over their heads, as three F-14D Super Tomcats took off to replace the CAP.
“Oh god” one remarked to another as they sat down for a game of cards “That cant go on all night can it!”
“Ha. You shouldda been in Talaax. Full combat operations then not only goddammed jet roars throughout the night, but missile attacks and bloody alarm bells! Really screws up you sleep.”

"Can we go around?"
"Easily. I think it´s just used to extort money from civvies, as they did not look too alert."
