Announcement from LasProd:

Following a lengthy design and development period, Lasatanian Defence Industries (LDI) is proud to announce the launch of the new LAS-T1 Main Battle Tank. The Tank has been supplied to approximately 50% of Lasatanian armoured divisions and other divisions are currently undergoing conversion to the new model.

Development of the LAS-T1 tank was initiated in 1988 following a thawing in relations between Lasatania and Russia, which led to the suspension of arms sales from Russia. The LAS-T1 was accepted for service in 2003. The LAS-T1, is equipped with 120mm gun, is a first-class tank that is equal to any tank made by leading nations of the world. The tank is equipped with a the LDI-RM1, a production copy of the Rheinmetall 120-mm tank gun as featured in the German Leopard 2. The LAS-T1 tank carries a smoothbore barrel rather than a rifled barrel, and ammunition includes armor-piercing projectiles, antitank howitzer shells, and adhesive [high explosive plastic (HEP)] howitzer shells. The LAS-T1 weighs 50 gross tons, is powered by a 1,500-horsepower engine, and has a 30-horsepower-per-ton power-to-weight ratio. With the exception of the turretless Swedish Stridsvagn (S-type) tank and various Russian models, the Type 90 tank is the first tank to achieve manpower savings by reducing the crew to three through the development of an ammunition autoloader. Innovative technology includes a laser and thermal-guided gun and turret controls. The automatic target tracking system using a thermal image display is controlled through a tank commander's targeting periscope attached to the top of the turret in an independently rotatable mode. Night-vision range finders are integrated into fire control systems (FCS) and night vision thermal imaging systems of a passive type use the infrared rays emitted from the opposing target to provide a substantial improvement in visible range. These features enable the tank to achieve high-precision, mobile firing, and enhanced the tanks capabilities to respond rapidly to multiple targets. Proprietary technology was used on the composite armor, including steel and ceramics with superior projectile-resistant qualities.

OOC: Anyone got a price for an MBT or would be willing to give a price I can use for this beast.

IIRC, most storefronts price tanks between the 1 million to 5 million price ranges. The 4 - 5 million price range usually applies to Post Modern or Future Tech tanks.

Hope that helps.

OOC: Cool, So a price tag of $2.5m isn't too expensive then, given it is quite high spec really..

Although that seems to happen, an Abrams or Abrams standard tank should cost 4-5million, as should this one. An ultra-advanced tank (ie one designed with todays tech rather than 1970s tech) would cost between 7 and 15 million depending on how advanced it was.
