Credonian Presidential Palace Press Room, Credonia City, Credonia
Melany Mitchelson, the President's personal assistant enters the room and approaches a podium bearing the seal of the Credonian President, Alexander Sutton. She pauses for a moment, looking out into the quiet audience composed of the national and international press corps before speaking.
Good afternoon. Just moments from now, President Sutton will be making an announcement about the role the Credonian military will be assuming, what it means for our allies, and what it means for nations around the globe. This announcement comes after a diplomatic deal was made with the nation of British Morocco some time ago. President Sutton will be...."
President Sutton appears in the doorway and Melany immediately yields and steps away from the podium to allow him to speak.
"Thank you Melany" Sutton mutters quietly to Melany.
"Good evening. You all are probably wondering, what is President Sutton getting us into this time? Well, i'll tell you what I am getting us into. Over the years, Credonia has been a protector and a defender of our friends and allies. For years we have stood side by side with our allies in wars, we have deployed troops to hot spots that our allies are involved with, but we have done so in a way that doesnt jeapordize Credonia and its citizens at home in the case of an attack. Credonia has in the past been the target of nations who hate who we are, what we stand for, and why we do what we do, and that called for us to keep our fighting forces at home, protecting our mainland. We have only deployed our forces to our friends and allies land in their time of need, when they are under attack, but never to prevent an attack. Today that will change as taht era and time period has come and gone. We no longer face the threats of the past, therefore, we must deal with, and face the threats of the future.
I will be contacting a number of Credonia's friends and allies to stamp out a deal to place military bases in their nations, as well as patrol and protect their territorial waters from aggressors. The first nation on our list is British Morocco. We have already gotten the go ahead to send naval forces to the Gibraltar Strait to defend the waters and naval vessels that sail that waterway. I have already issued the mobilization of the Credonian 71st and 422nd Carrier Divisons. They will put out to sea and begin their voyage to the Gibraltar Strait tomrrow at 0800 hrs. There is no particular or specific threat. This is just a mere reallocation of forces to provide protection for our ally and other nations who use that waterway for commerce and trade.
These measures will hopefully deter any future agressor from attacking an ally of ours, and we will ensure that our forces adequately do the job. We look forward to this endeavour and look forward to expanding relation with our friends and allies, and turning some of our friends into allies as well. Thank you. I will be taking no questions at this time."
President Sutton steps back from the podium and strides out of the room.
