This time you have stepped too far. By ignoring our offers for a peaceful
settlement, and threatening us with nuclear strikes, you have sealed your
own fate. The entire armed forces of the Commonwealth have been placed
on the highest alert. Do not think your petty insults will protect you now. If it
comes to nuclear war, your entire country will be erased off the map. You
have made many enemies over the years, and they will come for you. This is
your last and only chance. Stand down now.
Prime Minister Terri Bolash
Commonwealth of Granzi
Commander Complex A, Granzi City
The lighting illuminated cold concrete walls. Built deep under the capital, the halls radiated no warmth, leaving a cold glow that basked the room. In the center of the awning hall, a group of figures sat, erect and facing the long table that stretched from end to end. The ventilators drone in a constant hum, broken only by a cough or two that echoed in the vast expanse. Flat screens peaked out from along the wall, on which an aqua blue was displayed. From the entrance sounded a sudden shuffle of feet. All eyes were drawn to the double doors.
Prime Minister Bolash purposefully strode in, followed immediately by the remaining members of the Ministry. Hidden from view, the top echelon of Granzi had gathered. Selecting his seat at the head, Bolash placed a few folders before himself, and drew a digital handheld out of his pocket. Rising, he began to speak. "Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great sorrow that I come before you with evil tidings. As all of you may know, the recent incident in the Middle East has grown to encompass the Commonwealth. Cam III has violated our national sovereignty, of which we ask for an official apology."
The PM paused. "But instead of complying to our demands, the government in Cam III has threaten the lives of millions of Granzian through the use of nuclear weapons. Instead of a peaceful settlement, we are increasingly being drawn towards war. Here is their response." The plasma screens flickered, and revealed a message in liquid green. " 'We a truly sorry for the tradgy that occured in your nation. We shall not be sending you money as we think it not a good enough reason. Only some people died, not as many as will die if you take any more action, remember: I have enough nukes to turn the whole VA into glass.... You have been warned, they are now currently aimed at your nation.' This is truly an affront to our nation. Cam III has shown throughout its history an unwillingness to negotiate. It has repeated shown aggressiveness that endangers world security. And now our homeland is under threat."
Defense Minister Gerard stood and cleared his throat. As if by one, the personnel in the hall turned to him. "Earlier today, our satellite feed revealed an even more disturbing sight. Cam III has turned and launched another attack on the Greenmanbry fleet." The screens cut to an image, several plumes are shown in the foreground. "They have again, escalated the situation. Clearly, the government there does not wish for peace. A transmission has been sent, but is expected to be a fruitless endevour." He sat down.
It was Minister Sun's turn. "Yes, and we have taken action to prevent another sneak attack by Cam III. All missile satellites, and anti-ICBM systems are on the highest alert. Missile silos around the nation have been prepped for launch. And the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th Battlefleet is enroute to Yemen..." He ticked off every precaution, one by one. "And we will not be alone. Greenmanbry has made the intent of a campaign clear. We are also expecting assistance from the OMP. Doujin, in particular, has offered a Battlefleet. If worse comes to worse, we can contact our other allies." A murmur spread through the crowd. "All we need is a decision, to be made by this council. Is it to be war?"
Prime Minister Bolash rose again. "It is now time to put this motion to vote."
An hour later, the final ballots were counted. By an overwhelming majority, Granzi was going to war.
