The Republic of Leperflesh and the Nomadic Peoples of Westerney Announce Unified Currency
Unitied by their close trade agreements, the modest nations of Westerney and Leperflesh have unified their currency, with the Nomadic Peoples of Westerney adopting Leperflesh's Arcade Token as its national currency. The two nations have chosen to lock in their exchange rate at 1:1, creating closely-tied interdependant economies.
"Our nations' economies were already highly interdependant," said Leperfleshian economic advisor Grhughnubble Hlargh. "We're closely tied by our extensive trade agreements, so unifiying our currency makes our international transactions far easier to handle."
In honor of the new arrangement, the Republic of Leperflesh, which is currently minting all of the two nation's Arcade Tokens, has begun producing and distributing a new Arcade Token celebrating the event. The new Arcade Token depicts historical events and scenery of Westerney on its back, and has updated text on the face of the coin reading "Redeemable Only in Leperflesh AND Westerney".
Speaking at a public event to commemorate the new agreement, President Lothar Intestineater IV described his hopes that other nations would show an interest in the currency now that it had been legitimized on an international level. "We invite the international currency markets to list the Arcade Token and are willing to exchange Tokens for strong foriegn currencies, in order to facilitate increased trade for both Westerney and Leperflesh", he stated. "We suggest that, as an opening valuation, four Tokens may be purchased for one American Dollar. However of course Tokens must be spent, and cannot be redeemed for Dollars at this time, because so far, we haven't got any dollars."
