The Unseating of the Leader of the Skies: Part 1 (semi-open RP)

OOC: If you want to join this RP, ask first. T-gram me. Don't automatically RP because I have plans that I need to carry through first.

The Shogun of Euroslavia had accomplished almost everything that he has strived for...the entrance of Euroslavia into the world scene, acceptance into NATO, a continuous improvement of the economy, and a lax of restrictions on his citizens. Civil Rights is now at a new high within the Empire. Even now, the military of Euroslavia has been updated, and is now a force to be reckoned with. It seemed as if nothing could get better, but suddenly, things started making a turn for the worse...

In the Throne Room, within the palace of Arcadia, Euroslavia, capital city. The Shogun is speaking with Destra.

"Destra, are you ready to make your World Tour with your sister? Remember now. You and Sinistra represent Euroslavia, so be bold, but be compassionate. We don't want others thinking we are a cold and careless nation."

"Don't worry about a thing, brother. We'll take care of everything."

"That's good to hear. Now Destra...I...I.."

"What? What is it?"

For once, the Shogun was at a loss for words. He didn't know exactly what to say. It all happened yesterday...He went for his usual visit to the all-seer, except, things weren't normal. The all-seer mentioned something about the end of the throne for a "Leader of the Skies". Now he didn't know what she meant by that, but he needed to be a little more cautious from now on. Maybe in his next visit, she'll go into more detail...

"Uh...its nothing Destra. Now go, other nations call for you. Your first visit is Vendi, as Jarridia was destroyed by a nuclear attack. I doubt we'd have much to discuss with them."

They both smiled, and laughed for a while...it's been a while since either of them had laughed. All of the work that has been done so far, has required an extreme amount of concentration. There was no time for laughing.

"Goodbye Destra, and good luck, although you won't need it."

"Thank you...brother."

She frowned, and looked into his eyes. There was something wrong. His eyes were turning gray. This is something she's learned to see ever since they met. When the Shogun was in distress, his eyes turned gray.

Two Imperial Guards began to escort Destra back to her room, so she could get her things ready. At that point, Sinistra walked into the throne room...

"Ah, Sinistra. It's good to see you. Destra is getting herself ready for the Tour. Are you ready yet?"

"Almost, brother. There are a few things I need to take care of first, and then I'm off to Aequatio. Remember, my part of the Tour doesn't start for a couple days, so Destra will be leaving before me. Besides...there are a few things I need to take care of first."

"Ah, that's right. It seemed to have slipped my mind. Anyways, what do you have that you need to take care of?"

"Oh, uhh...it's nothing important. Just a few...personal things. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine."

Sinistra walked away from the Throne without bowing. That is known among Euroslavia as a severe betrayal to the Shogun. Something was up with her. The Shogun could sense it. She had her own plans that she was going to carry out, whether the Shogun liked it or not.

Sinistra continued to walk out of the throne room, and into the secret pathway to the all-seer. No one besides the Shogun knew of this path, but one day, Sinistra was spying on her brother, and seen him walk that way.

She continued to walk down the path, and finally, to the door at the end of the hallway.

"Your plan will never work! Evil never triu....

Sinistra slapped the all-seer. She fell to the ground in pain.

"My plan will work! You're powerless to stop me, you old hag. Now if you don't continue to talk about 'The Unseating of the Leader of the Skies' then I will kill you, and don't worry, I'll do it if I have to."

She grinned and laughed. Her plan was working perfectly. Nothing can stop her from carrying this out.

The rest of that day had passed, and a new day has come. Destra was preparing to leave on her trip to Vendi, and Sinistra was still asleep. It was 6 in the morning, and the Shogun went to the all-seer for his usual appointment.

"Good morning..is there anything new you can tell me about the leader of the skies? I haven't been able to sleep all night..."

She hesitated, and remembered that she would lose her life if she defied Sinistra. She wasn't exactly sure what to say, so she just made it up.

"The leader of the skies is a very wealthy man. His life was rough, but in time, he grew to become exactly what he wanted. He accomplished many things in his life, but it was cut short...by someone he...."

She stopped. Nothing more could be said, or it would all be given away. For a moment there, she was scared. Would he be able to put the pieces together?

"I don't get it. Does he get killed? What happens?"

"I'm not exactly sure. These things are still unclear to me...I need time to piece it all together.

"No...wait. All that you said. It's exactly who I am. This person is me, isn't it?"

Both of their hearts sunk. The Shogun now knows that his life is in danger. The all-seer's life is in danger as well. Everything she says is being monitored by Sinistra. She will surely have her head...

"Be warned. Your very life is in danger. Now leave at once."

She sat there....knowing that she will be killed by Sinistra today, unless some freak of nature occurs, and she is somehow stopped, but she didn't see anything like that happening. For a brief second, she foreseen her own death.

"At least it'll be swift." she said under her breath.

The Shogun walked out of the room, scared to death. Someone was going to try to kill him, but he didn't know who. The only person that he could count on was himself.

Why exactly would someone try to kill me? He thought. I've done nothing to double-cross anyone at all. Is someone jealous of me? of my power? Just then, Sinistra appeared at the entrance to the secret hallway and stood there, menacingly.

"How did you know about this area?" he asked.

"Well, I always wondered where you went at 6 in the morning every day. I noticed you've been gone every day, at that time, so I got up early a few days ago, and I seen you walk into it. I wondered exactly what it was, so later that day, I went into it, and found your 'secret'."

"Well why didn't you say anything?"

"Why should I? Well, I might as well reveal everything to you, as long as everything continues to go to plan."

Sinistra suddenly pulled out a murisame.

"What are you doing Sinistra?!? Put that sword away! I order you! I swear I'll call the guards to arrest you!"

"Don't worry about that. The guards are taken care of. They ate something a little...poisoned, hahahaha. They won't be here to help you."

"Why are you doing this? What have I ever done to you?"

"You get all the credit when something goes right. The Shogun of Euroslavia....oh, he's the greatest man alive, but who are Sinistra and Destra? No one has ever heard of us, the people who do everything for you. The people who would have given their lives for you. You don't even recognize us as equals..."

"Now thats where you're wrong Sinistra. I've given you so much credit over the past few months! You're losing your mind!"

"Shut your mouth, I will be not convinced otherwise.....now...its time I take care of what I started."

Sinistra lifted the sword up high and held in there for a brief second. The Shogun knew that he wasn't going to be able to do anything to stop her. He had nowhere to run or hide. His dream was...over. Sinistra brought the sword down swiftly, and struck his head off. His body stood there, right after the swipe, but fell to the ground shortly thereafter. It was done. The prophecy ended up coming true after all.

BREAKING NEWS:
The Shogun of Euroslavia was found today, decapitated. It is unsure exactly who did this. The National Defense Squad is investigating it currently (this squad takes care of any high-profile homocides). It seems that the Shogun didn't leave a successor to the throne, so it must be decided between Sinistra and Destra, on who will rise to the throne.

OOC: The thread is now open to everyone else.

Meanwhile, in the aircraft that Destra and her bodyguards are in, for the Tour, Destra receives the call of the fate of her brother.

"Destra? Is that you?"

"Yes, who is this?"

"It's your sis. We've got a big problem here. You may need to abandon your part of the tour."

"What do you mean? What happened?"

"I'm afraid...our brother was murdered by some psychotic freak. His head was cut off and found set at his throne, while the rest of his body remained in a hallway about a 2 minutes walk away from his throne room."

"WHAT?!?!? You've got to be kidding, right? NO! This isn't right!"

"I know Destra, calm down. There will be a time for mourning, but right now, we need to figure out what is going to happen to the nation we serve. We've been given the choice of who should be the next leader. Basically, its down to either you or me."

"Well...we'll need to talk about this. I'll come back immediately."

Destra continued to ball her eyes out, not realizing that she was talking to the person that murdered her brother. Her aircraft turned around, and began to head back to Arcadia.

Torel Lakaski sat alone, the morning light was begin to come through the small office windows. Like some many other night he had brought his work home with him and had spent the entire night doing paperwork. But such was expected of the Secretary of State, and he found himself under a large workload.

Taking a drink of coffee he had to force the liquid down, it had long since become cold. A wave of exestuation over came. Leaning forward he placed his elbow on the desk and began to rub his temples.

Glancing over at the clock he could see that it was 8;30, and that he would have to be heading to work soon. There was still so much more for him to do before

A nock on the door startled him, quickly he realized that it could only be his wife

“I’m sorry that I didn’t come to bed” he said while looking up towards his wife “But I…” When their eye’s meet he could see that there was more wrong then the fact that he had not gone to bed, her face was pale, and she was visibly upset. “What is it”

“The Shogun” she stuttered trying to get the words out of her mouth “He’s been murdered.

At first he was taken back by the new, but quickly Torel’s mind began racing playing out all the possible implication of what this could mean. Jumping from his desk he ran to the door. “I’ve got go, sorry, but I’m probably needed. I have to go see Sinistra”

At the Arcadian International Airport.

Destra finally returned home from her Tour, even though it was never started. This matter was much more urgent in the fact that Euroslavia didn't have a leader right now. She thought a lot about what should happen to the country, now that her brother was dead.

Destra was driven in a private car back to the Palace where upon, she seen Sinistra sitting outside.

"Sinistra! Are you ok? What happened? Why did this happen?!?" she shouted with frustration.

Their brother was the reason they had such good standings within the government. Without him, they would have continued to be poor citizens of Za-Breg, the old capital, with no place to go.

"I'm ok, for now I guess." she replied. "I don't know why this happened. I don't know why someone would do something so terrible like this."

"I know...but like you said, there is a time for mourning. We need to be strong for the nation. If our people seen us so frustrated like this, I highly doubt that they would trust us at choosing the leadership of the country. We need to stay focused."

"You're right. That is why I suggest that I become the new leader of Euroslavia."

There was a brief pause. Destra was shocked. She had never seen anyone so selfish in her life, at this point. She was hoping that they would choose one of the Ministers to become the next Shogun, or even joint rule with both of them in power.

"What are you talking about? I don't know if that's the best idea..."

"If our brother were alive right now, he would have picked me over you, as the successor to the throne, and you know it."

"This is a whole new side I'm seeing Sinistra. I never knew you were so selfish and power hungry! Did you hit your head or something?"

"No, I'm finally seeing clearly, and I believe I could bring this nation to greater heights than our dear brother. He was a failure."

Destra appeared very angry. Her own sister was criticizing a dead man. Their brother...

"How dare you say that! You'd better take that back, or the spirits will make you pay for your arrogance. I will make sure that you do NOT become the next leader of our lands. Our brother would have never let you in the palace if he knew how terrible and black your heart is."

"You'll see Destra. You'll see..."

Sinistra walked away, back into the palace, as Destra stood there, angry and confused. What was she about to see? Well, no one knew exactly what to expect from Sinistra. She was very unpredictable.

Torel stepped out the limo and onto the steps of the palace only to find Destra standing alone on the steps. From what he could tell she looked a bit distressed, but given the situation he could see why. With a few quick strides he walked up behind her, “Destra let me be the first to offer my condolences on your loss. However, I need you to be strong during this troubling time, we must act quickly in order to maintain control”

As a sign of good faith he offered her his hand “please come with me”

Still in shock from the argument she just had, she stared at him for a few seconds. Destra got a very positive vibe from the way he said things, and knew he was telling the truth, so she took his hand.

"If you say so...but what are we going to do?"

Torel help Destra up the steps, and into the palace. “We need to assemble some type of order” explained Torel. “We have to have a meeting with all the ministers. Since there was no clear successor we must form a temporary government, until a successor can be chosen. We must tread carefully in the coming day, we would not want to give any enemies that we may have another chance to strike.”

With the Shoguns murder Torel was worried at an outside influence may be trying to destabilize the government “Until we can discover who kill the Shogun we must be very careful, both you and Sinistra should be protected.”

OOC: Sorry about the delay in response. I've been busy lately.

"That is a great idea." agreed Destra.

"I'm afraid that a hostile nation towards Euroslavia may try to take advantage of our current situation, and it would be great if we could set up an interim government until them."

She began to look into the skies...how amazing they looked. It was such a beautiful day. It was unfortunate that this had to occur. All of this pain and suffering....but such is life.

With the fresh knowledge of her mother's recent assassination, and a fear in her heart that the same fate might befall her, Kiari Shkovi-Fritz read the noticed about the death of the Shogun in Euroslavia with great concern. After sighing softly and placing it down, she turned to her minister of foreign affairs. "How do you suggest we approach this?"

"Well, ma'am, seeing how we are in an alliance with Euroslavia, it might be best to send in a delegation to be of assistance. When there is more than one possible successor there is potential nastiness and maybe even more dire consequences. I suggest that you might want to send someone."

"You're right. Tell General Makari Shkovi to take my place at the helm. I'll go with the delegation. I should meet the new potential leaders and let them know I don't support either one over the other, and that this should be approached in a democratic manner."

The foreign minister arched an eyebrow yet said nothing.

Torel and Destra moved through the hallways of the palace. Surrounding them was utter chaos, everyone in the country was dealing with the loss of the Shogun, and it was never more evident then in the palace.

Already the investigation into the Shogun’s death was underway, although Torel had no idea what the actual investigation was doing at this time. For the moment his only concern was creating a stable governmental structure until which time the details of what happened could be established.

Rounding in the corner to two entered into Sinistra’s office to find Sinistra sitting there. “Ahh” proclaimed Torel “Destra and myself have been looking for you, we both see the need to create an intern government until all this could be settled. But for the mean time both you and your sister should remain out of sight until this can be sorted, you both may be danger”

Sinistra gave the investigator a quick evil look, and then replied:
"Who is this man, and what is he doing here?" in an angry tone.

"This man is the investigator. The one who will find the murderer of our dear brother." replied Destra and a desperate manner.

"Oh...so we're hiring foreigners are we? We may as well let our nation be annexed by a bunch of heathens..."

"Shut your mouth Sinistra! It doesn't matter who does the investigation, as long as they're experienced and they know what they're doing. Now listen to what he said. We need to be careful where we go. We could be the next tar.."

Sinistra muttered something under her breath..
"Hopefully you.."

"What did you say?"

"Oh, it was nothing. So, Mr. Investigator....if that's what I may call you." cackled Sinistra with a dash of sarcasm. "Where shall we go, and what shall we do to help you in your investigation?"

“My name is Torel Lakaski” answered Torel in a rather harsh tone “And I would appreciate if you called me Torel” He was going to make a few other comments but choose not to, given the current situation he felt that it would not be appropriate.

“There are a number of things that must be done firstly” Continued Torel “first we have to meet with the minister to create some sense of government, it will be my suggestion to the ministers that the two of you be place under heavy security, and out of sight until we can discover who killed the Shogun. That means that until which time the identity of the killer be determined the minister will have control of the government. When we discover who is behind this atrocious attack, and they are dealt with power then will be handed over to the two of you.”

"There are many ministers that we'll have to meet with. A total of 8.
Minister of Defense (which is Destra)
Minister of Internal Affairs
Minister of Energy
Minister of Foreign Relations (which is Sinistra)
Minister of Agriculture
Secretary of State
Minister of International Conflict."

We should probably call for an emergency meeting of all of the Ministers to figure out who will be the temporary leader of Euroslavia." replied Destra.

"I'll make sure that things go as they really should have been, without our brothers...interference."

"What do you mean by that? snapped Destra.

"What I mean is, I should be the leader. It's obvious that I am more qualified than you."

"Well we'll see about that when all of the Ministers meet!"

Destra walked out of the room crying. She was shocked at how...cold-hearted her sister had become. Then she began to wonder. Why exactly is she acting like this? And then....it came. Maybe she had some part in this whole scheme..

She thought, "I'll keep an eye out for her..."

Torel remained in the room as Destra left, visibly upset. He quickly turned his attention towards Sinistra “With all due respect I think that you are failing to my point here. Someone has killed your brother, for what reason, and I’m sure that we can both think of a few. However, we must face the possibility that whoever is behind this may come after you and your sister.”

There was brief and awkward pause “The two are enormous amount of danger here, until we can find out who is responsible the minister should take of things, for both your safety. I can assure that you that I will do everything in my power to get to the bottom this as quickly as I can, but in the mean time we must move forward carefully. Now if you’ll excuse me I have an investigation to do.”

With that he turned on his heel and made his way though the door and into the hallway. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Destra.

“Wait up” he called out to her, as he ran over “The truth is I’m not sure where I’m going around here, would it be alright if you played guide until I find my way around”

"I'd gladly show you around the palace. Just follow me."

Destra took Torel to the entrance of the palace, and turned to him.

"We may as well start at the beginning. Obviously, this room is a bunch of empty space, nothing special here. Just a bunch of artwork and decor. We'll cover the first floor, which isn't much...but there is a lot of space to cover."

Destra continues to walk forward, through the first floor.

"This is the Dining Room. it's mainly where the Shogun has his diplomatic meetings. That way, they could eat and discuss politics at the same time. If you look to the right, that door leads to the kitchen. Let's go there."

They walked into the kitchen to see a few servants getting the food ready for lunch.

"Obviously, we've hired servants to do the cooking. Our family is horrible at cooking."

She managed to get a chuckle out of that one, and she continued on.

"Do you have any questions so far?" she asked.

Torel thought to himself for a moment, there was something that was bothering, something that he couldn’t put his finger on. Looking over at Destra he realized that she had asked him a question.

“I’m sorry” he apologized “I was lost in thought there for a second.”

He looked around the room “It is all rather nice.” He turned his attention back toward Destra “I was wondering if you knew of any hidden passages way. You something that a person might use to get around the palace without being seen by anyone, and avoid the security camera’s?”
