Bennavannin News Network reports that thousands of anti-United Nations protestors have gathered in the Bennavanninic capital of Beul na PĆ¹irt (Portsmouth), and some of them have put torches to a giant UN flag in the city's Liberty Square. Bennavannin had recently joined the United Nations, but after public pressure resulting from the imminent victory of the latest "sex rights" resolution, withdrew yesterday. Protestors now wish to demonstrate public resistance to any government overtures at rejoining the UN.
According to UN rules, a member state may resign and rejoin without having any previous UN resolution apply to it. The government of Bennavannin indicated its intention to follow the practice of rejoining to vote on resolutions, and resigning whenever necessary to avoid bad decisions, but the evidence on the ground here is that the vast majority of its citizens want nothing to do with the international organization.
