Democracy in Bal Jazeera Destroyed!

Bal-Jazeera
14-08-2004, 18:02
The citizens lined up outside the ballots, in the blistering heat waiting for their turn. After the drop in welfare and education standards, President Rassam Tuyril was sure to lose the next election. Or so everybody, and his opposing party, The Conservatives, thought. As the next man slid his vote into the box, he pulled out a Tokarev pistol, swirling round kicking up dust, and shooting in the air wildly. His friend set alight to the ballots and the votes, with a trusty home-made molotov cocktail.

Later that day, "President" Tuyril denounced his title at the senate, instead sending all of congress to the dungeons beneath the Presidential Palace. Broadcast all over the world on frequency 918.3319 (Rai - Mayra, Bal Jazeeran State Radio) that Rassam Tuyril had taken control of the military and the entire state. Cities and counties still opposing the new regime are being... Dealt with, in the words of Rassam, as we speak.

DGNT, while we will not interfere as of yet, will be watching your country.
Democracy is not compulsory, DGNT itself is a dictatorship, but we find that military govornments tend to...make mistakes.

BUT we would be quite happy to send aide (Food, medical supplies), as well as troops to help stabilize the govornment.

SECRET IC:
The SuperHappy Funtime Empire has deposited G2.5 billion into your countries accounts.
Do you require military aid, small arms, tanks, fighters?

We can provide a number of these at reduced prices.

When Guy Verhofstadt read the daily newspapers, he was extremely annoyed by this news.
It had been a long time since the Quick Reaction Force of the Victoria Alliance was brought in, but this would be a perfect change for him to demonstrate why he was voted Defence Minister;

Upon reading of the news this morning, we were shocked to find out that a democracy was being over-thrown while we all merely slept. FC, a known denouncer of liberal democracy, was somewhat pleased, but we do not intend to interefere, merely to keep an eye on Bal-Jazeera.

IC: Khaled Rashid Brahim, 7th President of the "Republic" of Al-Sabir, nodded approvingly, his bulging, brown eyes locked onto the Federal Intelligence report, assembled from satellite photographs, SIGINT and HUMINT reports in the Bal Jazeera region half a day earlier. While technically not a dictatorship, politics in Al-Sabir were remarkably influenced by large corporations, issueing huge donations to their favourite party. Assasinations of political opponents were also not uncommon.

"Finally, our Arab brothers have seen the light,"

He thought, leaning back in the leather Presidential chair. He made a mental note to keep an eye on this situation and took a Cuban cigar, one of the luxuries he could afford as President, lit it and inhaled. His mind wandered off, thinking about the times his country had fought away from democracy.....

Camewot, we advise you, as a friend, to keep yourself out of this, you have no right to interfere with the internal affairs of this autonomous country. Not to mention threatening young nations to crush them with your alliance. United with Dontgonearthere, Al-Sabir will defend Bal-Jazeera at all cost. You are hereby warned.

Dontgonearthere, we enthusiastically approve of your deployment of troops, may their presence deter any potential warmongerers. Should the need arise, Al-Sabir will send all the help it can afford, but for now, we will only be watching.

The President scowled..

The newspapers did not respond very well to the news of Bal-Jazeera's coup. The Arab majority of Greenmanbry, making up 76% of the entire population, took to the streets, demanding the new dictatorship be dissolved..

The President sent a communique to the International Community:

"While this illegitimate coup is denounced by the government and people of our great democracy, we do not wish that the Victoria Alliance immediately engage in a war to restore freedom in Bal-Jazeera.

We strongly regret DGNT's stance towards this issue, as well as Al-Sabir's.."

The President paused momentarily.. When will these sleeping Arabs ever revolt against tyranny, and see the light like we did? He continued..

"..We sincerely wish the stance of these two nations changes, and that cooler heads prevail. Also, as much as we might be unwilling to go to war, we are members of the Victoria Alliance and, if diplomacy fails, we shall find no other option but to aid our allies in whatever course of action they decide to follow.

Rai Mayra - Bal Jazeeran State Radio
Greetings Brothers, and welcome back to Rai Mayra, The state Radio that REALLY cares for its listeners. In news today, Camewot's "Victoria Alliance" Has threatened our great nation, and in response our good friends DGNT, and Fascist Confederacy have stepped into help intervene.

In other news, our Arabian brothers-in-arms, Al Sabir have pledged soldiers if neccessary to defend the innocent and peace loving peoples and leadership of Bal Jazeera. So Don't worry listeners, with such friends by our side you can continue worshipping the regime - hey thats whats written down buddy, you wanna ... oh... - i mean, worship holy allah, eating and working for the regime - sorry, Allah.

No actions will be made against Al-Sabir, although we will invade Bal Jazeera when he stays a dictatorship.

Credonia has and will forever be a free and just nation. While our allies from the Victoria Alliance has asked us to speak out about this coup, however, Credonia has at one point in time had a military coup. In fact, i initiated that military coup and took over as Dictator/Emperor of Credonia. The international community did not interfere because it was not an issue that the world needed to get involved with. The international community has no right to interfere in the internal affairs of another country, and Credonia strongly deplores any nation who does so, therefore, i must ask that the Victoria Alliance and its members back down and leave this nation be. They present no clear and present threat to you or anyone else at this time and to take action against a sovreign nation is just wrong. If you go to war with them, then you might as well go to war with every other nation in the world that has had or is in the process of having a coup of some kind towards dictatorship or communism, or fascism, or theocracy, or whatever type of government that isnt democratic. This nation has Credonia's moral support but that is all we are going to give.

Al-Sabir...keep a cool head, dont be too hasty to go to war. This is not an issue to go to war for. DGNT, loyal Credonian allies in the Ottoman and Victoria alliances, the same holds true for you.

We might decide things that you don't like, and you will end up blaming us, so please do attend

Downtown Staghdad
The protestors waved signs in the air, chanting as one:
Hai Adif Democrashah! Hai Adif Democrashah!
The two BMPs and T70s chugged down the street, kicking up dust as the tracks rolled acrossed ill-maintenanced roads. The hatch on the leading BMP popped open, and a young lieutenant appeared, green beret tilted slightly on his uniformed black hair.
Protestors! You are in disagreement of #1 of the constitution! Return to your homes immediately!
A brave protestor waved his fist at the Lieutenant, returning the order:
The constitution never stated our rights to protest are void!
The lieutenant took out a small book, opening it and reading in Bal-Jazeeran fluently
#1: Parties and Persons opposing the benevolent regime of Bal-Jazeera are punishable by death (Accord #313) and the following manner is commitable by any means neccesary, force depending upon what is opposing. Parties and Persons of Bal Jazeera must recognise the benevolent regime of Bal Jazeera as the legitimate government whether or not the prior state of a democracy is taken into account
The lieutenant put down the book and looked at the protestors.
You have five seconds. Five, four, three, two..
Most had scattered away downtown, but around twoscore staunch protestors remained - umovable by the countdown.
one
The 20MM cannon on the BMPs flared up, empty shells burning the ground as the rounds chomped their way through the remaining protestors. As the blood quickly dried into the sandy roads, the vehicles took off.

The President came onto the televised broadcast in his dark suit and wide red tie. Putting his hands clasped in front of his he began to address the cameras. Unbeknownst to the viewing audience he worked from memory, or as he liked to refer to it the heart, and not a teleprompter.
“Good Evening citizens of Nova Hope and Bal-Jazeera. I realize that I’ve never addressed those of you living in Bal-Jazeera but there’s a first time for everything.” He smiled at his own little crack before continuing in a stern face.
“Recently those of you in Bal-Jazeera have lost your right to vote as your country was taken away from you in a relatively bloodless coup. I find this to be disgraceful, shameful and immoral. But I also find it to be none of my business. Its my firm belief that a country a certain sovereign inalienable rights that I am simply not willing to tread on at this time.” The President stopped a pause for effect.
“However I understand that there is a vast amount of people in Bal-Jazeera who are not happy with the current change in regime. If that is the case I recommend to you leaders of cities, counties and the like to cede from The Dictatorship. Yes that’s right. If you can cede from The Dictatorship of Bal-Jazeera, proclaim yourself an independent nation and hold on long enough for us to get in there we will help you. Please you do not have to be subjects to tyranny, declare independence and we will begin to fortify your nation from outside attack, we are simply not willing to start the war but if Bal-Jazeera attacks you while you are under our protection then by god in heaven we will finish it.” The President paused again calming himself and unclenching his fists which had tighten during the speech.

"It looks like the shit just hit the fan, Greenmanbry is under attack by Cam III, while Camewot is assaulting Bal-Jazeera, ruining the peace effort. Your advise, gentlemen,"

"I suggest we do not get involved, it can get into a lot of trouble due to some of our OMP allies in the Victoria Alliance,"

A small man across the end of the room said, his eyes anxiously shifting from corner to corner.

"Wise, Farid, but we are obliged to help our brothers in Bal-Jazeera, I suggest we send a deterrence force until the peace conference can begin. As for those others, let them fight it out, it has hardly anything to do with our cause and Bal-Jazeera, just some misplaced threat was enough to get them rolling,"

The Defense Minister said, a tall man with an almost unnatural broad build across the shoulders and a face covered in scars.

Khaled nodded, shutting down his laptop, removing the rectangular shaped glasses from his nose and stuffing them into a pocket of his coat.

"Very well, gentlemen, a deterrence force will be send, as well a humanitairy aid for Bal-Jazeera, I expect Mr. Sharif to work out the details.

He said, as he got out of his chair and was on his way to the exit of the massive Presidential Office. The rest of the men left the room after him, whispering with each other.

Port Bin-Sayd

The 1st Carrier Battle Group, one of the most powerful single military units on earth, cut through the silver waves, leaving nothing but foam on the water. On the flight deck, some ground crew, brave little men in fluorescent jackets, rode a single trolley with a black cruise missile with flame patterns and a red "N" painted onto it from a small elevator to one of the aircraft, an F/B-220 Ghost. Though only a deterrence force, aircraft were prepared for the worst.

This is an open message to each of the Bal-Jazeeran Government members.
We are willing to offer you a deal, whereby you would abdicate your positions
in the Bal-Jazeeran government in favour of reinstation of the democratic
system in exchange for the right to claim political asylum in Praetonia. Once
there, you will be given immunity from prosecution for past acts and you will
be provided with a mansion, a one-time payment of 30,000,000 Praefelis
($45,000,000 approx), and a considerable pension of around 1,000,000
Praefelis ($1,500,000 approx) per year. You will live out the rest of your lives
in peace and freedom, rich and in the luxurious surroundings of a Praetonian
mansion and estate. You can have your own private guard for protection and
you may bring your families with you. If you refuse these terms then your
futures, and the futures of your families, are far from certain.

The Camian navy will pull out from Greenmanbry, BUT will stay near Bal Jazeera in case The VA takes action....

OOC: Is that your way of saying sorry, and that I should ignore your reckless attacks?

You do realize you just fired at hundreds of possible trading vessels, since this Strait is very commonly used in conjunction with the Suez Canal? You do realize you fired directly over Granzi's Yemen, also chock full of navy vessels, just to get at us?

Very well.. I'll accept it.. just out of good faith.

IC:

The sirens wailed and the sailors rushed to their battlestations.. All defense systems came online..

"What has been fired?" The Admiral shouted

"All cruise missiles.."

"The Calypsos are up front, and so is every ship equipped with CIWS.. Let them handle it.. Send off our fighters.. I want most of the naval air force up in the air NOW"

"Aye Aye"

The sirens continued to blare.. The Calypsos were already manuevering to deal with the 400 cruise missiles.. The smaller frigates surrounded the Nimitz carriers and the Calypsos.. It was a mess.

Jolly-Roger AA systems came online, and were ordered to create a fire barrage, a desperate attempt to stop some of the incoming sub-sonic cruise missiles..

The CIWS batteries came to life, and hundreds of anti-missile munitions burst through the air from the Calypsos as well as other frigates and battelships..

The skies over Yemen were lit up.. It was a fireworks display..

"Did we get any?"

"We got a lot"

"Good"

"Not good enough, Commander!!!..."

"What?"

And with that, a cruise missile slammed into the bridge of one of the Calypsos, creating an awesome fireball.. The ship did not sink, but was incapacitated.

Several frigates around the hit Calypso turned into fireballs themselves.. It was overwhelming..

At the end of the intense period, 18 ships were sunk, among them the GMB Navy's flagship, the DBS Greenmanbry, which was due to replace the DBS Judgement as the Admiral's personal ship...

At least 100 of the cruise missiles missed their targets and buried themselves into the sea floor. Another estimated 100 were knocked off over the skies of Yemen. Many were knocked out by the ships's CIWS systems. But still, some hit their targets..

The fleet was partially incapacitated.. The damage caused was in excess of 140 billion dollars..

The President received the news minutes afterwards:

"WHAT?.. Order the fleet to pursue the ships.. fire whatever you have at them. Why are you still here goddamnit??."

"Sir.. the fleet is incapacitated.. We can follow them, but we need to tend to the damage.. Issue a statement.. demand reparations.."

"Very well"

<Hours later>

"Citizens of Greenmanbry,

Tonight, the ugly face of cowardice has once again showed itself, mocking our great nation.. This time it came from a previous ally, Cam III..

It grieves me to inform you that Cam III has reacted viciously to our pledge to preserve freedom, firing 400 cruise missiles at our unprepared fleets in the Red Sea.. The loss of life was horrific.. Over 9,000 sailors died, along with 18 ships, among them our flagship, the DBS Greenmanbry.. Our sailors fought the onslaught valiantly..

The Navy ships have ceased pursuit of Cam III's cowardly Navy, instead they are helping in the effort to bring home the bodies of our beloved servicemen..

However, I hereby demand from the international community to force Cam III into providing reparations for this horrible act. We demand the 140 billion dollars worth of equipment he destroyed, as well as reparations for the dead sailors.. We also demand that he surrender some of his vessels in exchange for the ones we lost in his attacks. If he fails to meet these demands, we have yet another conflict we must trudge through, fellow citizens.

Pray for the lost souls.. They shall not go unremembered..

God bless"

Granzi City, 0800 hours

Morning peaked over the soaring skyscrapers of Granzi City, spilling the light in splashes over the land. Prime Minister Bolash sat in the dining room, absently nibbling on a slice of toast, while thumbing through the Granzi Post. The heavy double doors were suddenly flung open, tossing the PM out of his revere. The Foreign Minister, closely followed by his aide, stormed into the open hall. Minister Sun stalked up to Bolash before hefting a substantial stack of papers onto the table. "Terri, it seems like we have another situation on our hands. This time it's in Yemen."

The Prime Minister blinked before replying. "Why? We aquired Yemen several years ago, and it's been quiet ever since. Has there been a rebellion?" He set down the morning paper, and picked up the top sheet from the pile. "Well, you see Terri," the Minister began, "Cam III is back. I'm sure you'll remember them from that war with Sarzonia, and the subsequent civil war. We thought them gone, but their Earth base was apparently not completely destroyed. Greenmanbry, who we are in diplomatic negotiations with, has suffered a naval 'defeat' at the hands of Cam III. Our analysts say that the Cam III fleet fled before Greenmanbry ships could return fire."

Bolash groaned. "So they're still here?"

The Foreign Minister paused for a second. "Yes, and it would be in our best interests to intervene." He gestured to the documents. "In there you will find several reports from Yemen. When Cam III fired on the Greenmanbry fleet, the cruise missiles flew over Yemen... and violated our territory. Furthermore, there have been cases of missiles impacting on Yemeni soil, either shot down by Greenmanbry, or having struck there. In at least one instance, a section of a village was completely reduced to ruins, leading to the deaths of a dozen civilians."

Prime Minister Bolash looked thoughtful. "So do you think we should send a fleet to the Red Sea?" Minister Sun nodded. "The 3rd Battlefleet is currently enroute to Aden, having undergone a refit in Reunion. Unfortuantly, no naval units were currently in Yemeni waters, otherwise, they might have prevented part of this tragedy."

The PM nodded. "Good. I'll send something over to Cam III. They screwed up bad this time."

Subject: Attack

It is with regret that I inform you of a tragedy in Yemen. In your attack of
Greenmanbry, several cruise missiles fired from your ships impacted in the
south of Yemen, killing or maiming several dozen civilians. For these acts, the
Commonwealth demands an official apology, and a sum of $1 billion to be
doled out to the relatives/survivors of the attack. In addition, we also ask
that your forces pay reparations to Greenmanbry, whom we are currently
finalizing an alliance. Failure to comply will lead to military action. The 3rd
Battlefleet is currently enroute to Yemen, a precaution to keep the peace,
and prevent any such attacks. We offered to mediate in the Sarzonian
incident, do not force our hand this time.

"Sir, we have received permission from the Prime Minister to go ahead with our plan," said an aide, flushed with the effort of running from the Atrium Imperialis for face to face confirmation from the Prime Minister, "they wont surrender their ships." The Praetor stood motionless and expressionless, and then said,

"Then God help them. Align the satellites, take control."

"Yessir! At once sir!"

The aide walked slowly but purposely over to a control panel, officially dismissed the operator and sat down at the chair. A few minutes of typing and the operation was set in motion. High above Yemen Praetonian Spy Satellites were stirring, aligning their lenses to see the Cammian Fleet. Also stirring, were high powered electronics warfare satellites.

Praetonia has undergone the humiliation of having Praetonian built ships attack an ally once before, it would not happen again. Cam III should never have chosen Praetonian shipyards unless he intended to stick to his word and not use them against Praetonia or her allies. The satellites over Yemen, and others around the world began transmitting the activation signal for the inbuilt fail-safe protection systems built into all of Cam III's ships. Every Cammian ship on the planet began to change.

First the internal and external locked, then all systems shut down and the crew compartments filled with sarin gas. With the crews either dead or imprisoned and shut off from the ships' systems, the propulsion and navigation systems began to activate again. For every ship sunk two set course for Greenmanbry, and the same number set course for Granzian Yemen, colours lowered. The remainder set course for Praetonia.

<Aboard another Calypso>

SIR!!.. Another 400 missiles have been launched!!..

Call every ship in the GMB Navy.. I want them here.. NOW.. and this time we know what to expect..

Aye Aye..

This time, the Nimitz class carriers stayed at the back, and all eight launched their entire arsenals.. F-22 Raptors, F-35 JSFs, FA-18s.. Nearly 700 planes would soon obliterate remnants of Cam III's Navy..

The Calypsos rushed ahead at maximum speed, their nuclear reactors up to the task.. Missiles were fired well in advance, and hundreds made their way to the cruise missiles..

This time, GMB ships were more fortunate.. 1 cruise missile made impact with the first Calypso, but the Calypso remained afloat.. In fact, the attack did not hinder its movement much.. It continued to fire its CIWS munitions..

Five minutes later, the sound of the missiles had died down, and this time only one cruiser was sunk..

The missiles gave way to the 700 planes, resembling a swarm of locusts.. huge locusts that went to the opposing parties at super-sonic speeds..

The Calypsos trudged ahead, out of Bab Al-Mandeb, disrupting trade vessels and an oil tanker..

All vessels fired their anti-ship missiles, torpedoes, and main guns..

14 Trident-class nuclear submarines locked on their targets and sent off torpedo after torpedo..

By this time, another two fleets made it to Yemen and Bab Al-Mandab.. Another two Calypsos, just the boost the navy was looking for..

800 ships were now on their way to Cam IIIs Navy, 240 Cruise Missiles were fired at the retreating fleets..

Meanwhile, on land, coastal defenses came to life, and the entire air force was put on alert.. The 7th Army, back from the Balkans, was mobilized somewhere near the coast..

<In the War Room>

Generals huddled over the table showing Greenmanbry's map. The President was with them, very attentive..

"I want you to organize an invasion force.. We will go with Praetonia and the Commonwealth to Japan.. And I don't want to lose another ship, understand?"

"Yes sir."

The Generals rushed out of the room.. another campaign, another series of decisive victories.. Or at least that's what they hoped.

Prime Minister Terri Bolash
Commonwealth of Granzi

Commander Complex A, Granzi City

The lighting illuminated cold concrete walls. Built deep under the capital, the halls radiated no warmth, leaving a cold glow that basked the room. In the center of the awning hall, a group of figures sat, erect and facing the long table that stretched from end to end. The ventilators drone in a constant hum, broken only by a cough or two that echoed in the vast expanse. Flat screens peaked out from along the wall, on which an aqua blue was displayed. From the entrance sounded a sudden shuffle of feet. All eyes were drawn to the double doors.

Prime Minister Bolash purposefully strode in, followed immediately by the remaining members of the Ministry. Hidden from view, the top echelon of Granzi had gathered. Selecting his seat at the head, Bolash placed a few folders before himself, and drew a digital handheld out of his pocket. Rising, he began to speak. "Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great sorrow that I come before you with evil tidings. As all of you may know, the recent incident in the Middle East has grown to encompass the Commonwealth. Cam III has violated our national sovereignty, of which we ask for an official apology."

The PM paused. "But instead of complying to our demands, the government in Cam III has threaten the lives of millions of Granzian through the use of nuclear weapons. Instead of a peaceful settlement, we are increasingly being drawn towards war. Here is their response." The plasma screens flickered, and revealed a message in liquid green. " 'We a truly sorry for the tradgy that occured in your nation. We shall not be sending you money as we think it not a good enough reason. Only some people died, not as many as will die if you take any more action, remember: I have enough nukes to turn the whole VA into glass.... You have been warned, they are now currently aimed at your nation.' This is truly an affront to our nation. Cam III has shown throughout its history an unwillingness to negotiate. It has repeated shown aggressiveness that endangers world security. And now our homeland is under threat."

Defense Minister Gerard stood and cleared his throat. As if by one, the personnel in the hall turned to him. "Earlier today, our satellite feed revealed an even more disturbing sight. Cam III has turned and launched another attack on the Greenmanbry fleet." The screens cut to an image, several plumes are shown in the foreground. "They have again, escalated the situation. Clearly, the government there does not wish for peace. A transmission has been sent, but is expected to be a fruitless endevour." He sat down.

It was Minister Sun's turn. "Yes, and we have taken action to prevent another sneak attack by Cam III. All missile satellites, and anti-ICBM systems are on the highest alert. Missile silos around the nation have been prepped for launch. And the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th Battlefleet is enroute to Yemen..." He ticked off every precaution, one by one. "And we will not be alone. Greenmanbry has made the intent of a campaign clear. We are also expecting assistance from the OMP. Doujin, in particular, has offered a Battlefleet. If worse comes to worse, we can contact our other allies." A murmur spread through the crowd. "All we need is a decision, to be made by this council. Is it to be war?"

Prime Minister Bolash rose again. "It is now time to put this motion to vote."

An hour later, the final ballots were counted. By an overwhelming majority, Granzi was going to war.

Cristal Hill AFB

Cristal Hill AFB, a noisy, sun-drenched "oasis", in the middle of nowhere, just as any other active Al-Sabirian military base, was buzzing of activity, having loadmasters guiding large pallets with equipment onto giant trolleys, to let them be towed by tractors to their assigned transport aircraft. Lines of men were checking equipment, live ammunition was being handed over to them, stuffing them into their webbing belts or loaded them into their G36A5 Assault Rifles.

The first large EA-100 Strategic Transports soared high over the runways of the base, waiting for their escorts to form up and guard them on their long trip to Bal-Jazeera. Smaller EA-80A and B variants leaped off the runways, taking their payloads up into the sky. The 1st Brigade of the 2nd Airborne Division was already eastbound, a quick reaction force that could be on their way to a drop zone within eighteen hours of an order to do so. On the ground, a next batch of men arrived, members of the second and third brigades, hastily called back from their vacations and training grounds to be deployed as quickly as possible.

Big Bird 401

Inside Big Bird 401, the roaring of the enormous turbofans filled the interior, making it impossible to chat for the 120 paratroopers seated. They were wearing full battle dress, though no actual jump would be made this afternoon, so everyone was packed lighter than normally, an absolute relief for the long night of flying ahead. Some men were caught up in their paperbacks, others tried to catch some sleep, but the most were just engrossed in thoughts, thinking about how they would perform in their possible first combat action. Commander Ibrahim kissed the crusefix stuffed into his coat pocket and prayed, his mind haunted by the thought of never seeing his son and daughters again. Corporal Hirad polished and sharpened his combat knife with something that looked like a little grey pebble stone. He hold the knife in front of him, into the light, to see if the were any irregularities on the blade. His thoughts were numb, from now on, the hardened veteran was a killing machine, not thinking about anything else until he was back and reunited with his wife.

Yankee Five-Niner-Zero

The fast EA-22D gunship helicopter hovered over the pristine beaches of Bal-Jazeera, the gunners training their 7.62mm miniguns constantly from the left to the right, examining the coastline with their thermal imaging scopes. Underneath and on the sides of the helicopter 30mm chainguns and 70mm rocketpods formed the real teeth of the helo, packing quite a punch.

"This is Foxtrot Uniform Romeo Yankee, [static] Eagle Eye Five confirms contact approximately thirty miles west of your [static] location, proceed to given coordinates and annihilate [static] enemy troops found. Yankee Two-One-Eight is inbound for giving needed assistance."

The radio suddenly chirped to life. The copilot got a nod from the captain, and pressed the transmit button, opening a secure channel to the aircraft carrier.

"Roger that, Foxtrot Uniform Romeo Yankee, Yankee Five-Niner-Zero is on its way to given location, roger eliminating enemy troops, out,"

He answered. The helicopter immediately rolled to the right, making a 180 degree turn and continued on topspeed to the west, further up ahead the coastline.

OOC: Hmm... picking up a stealthed WiG craft so easily is little iffy... but I'll go along with it.

IC: "Sir we've picked up a helicopter gunship on passive radar," said Co-'pilot' aboard the WiG craft, "they've got a lock on us!"

"How the hell? This is one of the best stealthed craft we have... prepare to fire the discus missile, I'm going to take envasive action," replied the pilot and captain. Suddenly, the WiG craft jolted violently sideways at over 250 mph and sped off up the coast. "Surely they'll have lost us now," the pilot says, looking over at the passive radar display...

"Damn, our screens are blank, sir,"

The tense atmosphere in Eagle Eye One, a E-60C Carrier AWACS aircraft, was back. An unknown contact, possibly hostile, 20 minutes ago was completely suprising. The advanced IFF transmitter had received no contact at all, strange if you keep in mind that most IFF transponders at least give off something, but this one seemed to be none existant.

"It could've been clutter, the contact was very close under the coastline and the radar isn't exactly what you'd call optimized under these circumstances,"

One of the technicians responded to his collegue's tidbits, meanwhile rubbing his eyes, tired of the hours monitoring the radar charts.

"We take no chances, contact the Fury and call those two Yankees back. We will continue patrolling up the coast, as it will take us very close to the last known position of the contact, no stealth craft can remain unseen from such a distance, either that or he is already the hell out of here,"

The crew chief decided on his own.

"I'm going to take a little nap, warn me if anything unusual shows up,"

The chief continued, meanwhile strolling over to the rest compartment.

OOC: This practically means you can continue your landing, as I won't be standing in your way, the thread doesn't really interest me anymore.
