The Armed Forces Of Communist New England

OOC: Because I'm such a young nation, the majority of my military equipment is very outdated. I'm using equipment that doesn't really go past the 1980's. If the numbers are alarmingly large, please help. I'm open to constructive criticism.

Army:

Each Division Contains:
10,000 personnel
1,000 BMP IFC's
150 T-72's
150 T-80's
200 BTR-60's
20 MI-8 HiP's
20 MI-24 Hind's

Army Group = 50,000 men

Forces:

1st Div. - 1st Corp - 1st Army Group
2nd Div. - 1st Corp - 1st Army Group
3rd Div. - 1st Corp - 1st Army Group
4th Div. - 1st Corp - 1st Army Group
5th Div. - 1st Corp - 1st Army Group

7th Div. - 2nd Corp - 2nd Army Group
8th Div. - 2nd Corp - 2nd Army Group
9th Div. - 2nd Corp - 2nd Army Group
10th Div. - 2nd Corp - 2nd Army Group
12th Div. - 2nd Corp - 2nd Army Group

101st RSV. Div. - 7th Corp - RSV Army Group
102nd RSV. Div. - 7th Corp - RSV Army Group
103rd RSV. Div. - 7th Corp - RSV Army Group
104th RSV. Div. - 7th Corp - RSV Army Group
105th RSV. Div. - 7th Corp - RSV Army Group

(* RSV= Reserve)

Navy:

There are 10 Battle Groups In The New England Navy, each group contains:
(10 Fleets; 14,150 Total Crew)
1 Berkut Kresta I Guided Missile Cruiser
1 Berkut-B Kara Class Guided Missile Destroyer
2 Burevestnik Krivak Class Frigates
2 Albatross Grisha Class Corvettes
2 667A Yankee I SLBM Subs
1 Mercy Class Hospital Ship

Amphibious Fleet (8 Fleets; 14,736 Total Crew)
2 775 Rapucha Class Landing Ships
3 56M Kildin Class Guided Missile Destroyers
2 Burevestnik Krivak Class Frigates

I don't have an airforce yet. I've got the aircraft planned out, but I can't find the numbers on how to put them together. Like how many aircraft in a WING and all that. Once I do, I'll update this thread. Remember, CONSTRUCTIVE criticism only please, if I get crap like "GODMOD!!!1 OMG j00 sux!!11 I n00k J00!!" I'll just ignore you.

Thanks in advance

Cut down on the divisions, you shouldnt have that many. Otherwise pretty good. What's your economy rating?

Basket Case Economy, hence why my military equipment is so outdated.

The generally accepted maximum for military personel is 5% of the population. I think this is way too high but it's acceptable. At least half of this should be non-combatant logistics personel. With a basket case economy you should have less than this, as you have very little money, unless you want a consrcipt army armed only with AK-47s and RPG-17s (no navy aside from small fast attack craft, very little and outdated airforce). When I was your size I only had 40,000 troops, and I had a stronger economy.

However it isnt all bad news, Praetonia is willing to make you a protectorate, which would not infirnge on your sovereignty, it's basically a mutual protection pact except you dont have to come to my aid.

Alright. I'll do a massive military overhaul. I'm also interested in this "protectorate". Could you describe it more?

Bascially Praetonia would be obligued to come to your aid should you be invaded. However, you wouldnt have to come to our aid and Praetonia wouldnt have to support your offensives (should any happen).

The navy looks about right. Just make some of those army divisions reservists.

I don't see how, after two days with a basketcase economy, you could afford 160 ships and 1440 aircraft. I'm guessing you have a defense budget less than 10 or 5 billion, and it took me almost 150 billion on a payment plan to buy my navy with 170 ships and much less planes. And I still don't have enough money to spare to actually deploy my navy.

He doesn't :S although I agree a carrier battlegroup is a bit much.

For your navy this hydrofoil is an excellent choice, it is fast and can engage surface, air and submarine targets. However it is small and so cannot be used for attacking other nations, but then you dont want to do that really early on, its expensive:

You gotta think of the ammount of personnel. You have an initial, what, 400,000 men in your army (I hope I read right that 10,000 are in each division.)? Then you need a bunch of support personnel for them (I generally use 1 support member for each combatant in my military.). This could make your army anywhere from 500,000 to 800,000 men. Then you have your naval crew for each ship. Then you need flight officers and plane crews for all of your aicraft in your navy. Then you need naval support men who are located on land to help coordinate actions at sea (I have 3 support crew for each ship crewman, but you can probably have 1 for every ship crewman or even 1 for every 2 ship crewmen if you don't need to be that coordinated.). I'm not flaming or anything, I'm just saying that that would be almost four times over the accepted ammount of personnel. (I still don't know if I got the right ammount of men in your army...) Oh, yeah, I forgot about the tanks. You need probably 1 or 2 refuel trucks per tank. First, you have to worry about the tank crews and then you have to worry about the crew that drive the fuel trucks and supply the tanks. Then you go to your cargo trucks to carry supplies and ammo to your troops. You need a bunch of them. And their crew. If you think about it, you also need amphibious assault troops to land your forces and a bunch of supply ships for your navy so they won't have to go into port every 5 or 10 days. If you think about all of this stuff, it gives you a headache. It was all in a logistics post. Ah, I found it. Here it is: Logistics (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=275828)

Check out this bit of the British Army's site, it shows an organisational structure. It's simple, but easy to remember. Hover over different bits and it'll show some info, and also numbers for armoured groups.
