Idea for dealing with Noobs OOC:

IDF

I've noticed that there is an abundance of new nations and they are mostly noobs, I think that they have potential and that we should set up a series of war game threads where we pretty much show them the basics and help them along in RP skills.

Anyone want to help here with this idea?

I may get involved. I think that would be good for nations of all ages to hone their RPing skills and to become better players.

It sounds good, but I dare you to make one of the people helping be Sephrioth.

Sounds great! I'd really like to learn how to be in war games without godmoding.

Great! Simply ask Sephrioth if he can teach you a thing or two about Roleplaying, and soon you'll be at least as good as him.

Ok, seriously, I do think this is a good idea, and would like to help.

I'm trying to figure things out with a developing nation.

I feel intimidated.

This is a good idea. I'll help with some character RP instruction if it is needed.

Well, I'll help with the Space Roleplayers. And I'll gaurd them, and tell them not to be godmoddy Shivans, and I'll stab them if they make Subspace Shields

I'll help with RP's for small groups (Say a military RP involving a team of 4).

Oh, and subspace shielding? Pshaw! Just send a few tons of warheads through a wormhole, and have them exit inside the enemy ship. Works like a charm every time.
Not a guarantee. Is godmodding. Rinceweed holds no responsibility for any newbies act of stupidity

hmm sounds good... TAG(for all you new players, a tag is a way of watching a thread that you are interested in but may or may not get involved in)

Perhaps we could start a 2v2 modern wargame?

I'll support JJR in this. If the kiddies need help with RPing a future ground war, I'll help em out.

no, i'd rather start them off with a simple 1V1 amphib assault/ groundwar/dog fight/naval battle/etc. they're so much simpler so you don't have to coordinate, and also describe the basics, also for you new players, one of the best RPers in NS in my opinion(which may not matter) is Automagfreek. you may want to use the search tool and find his war against allanea, a long RP and long over, but a very good example of good RPing and bad RPing, see if you can find the bad RPer.

one of the other more experinced nations, TG me if you would like to do a sample 1V1 war game... modern tech... just basics, no in depth char. play outs, just to show them the basics and logistical needs of warfare

In my experience, there are two times of n00b rushes. April-May and September-October. The worst is yet to come.

That's the problem, sub-space shields create a gravatic field in all universes at the same time.

I was actually started in Feb of 2004, but 1st nation (won't tell you it) got deleted and rightfully so.

I am glad to see some young nations wanting to participate and also glad to see experienced ones wanting to help.

As for space RP I think it would be good if you get a wargame going JJR for one and as for modern we will have multiple ones. I think that if we can get these new nations to have some good RP skills there will be a good benefit for all NS users from the fun RPs sprouting out of it.

As for Sephrioth, he is a lost cause and I won't waste my time there.

This is a Wargame(Meaning a kind of opposing test of tactics. No actual damage is dealt, we just say so, it's all simulated kills. This is a 2v2 Space Wargame, all battleships. It's just starting. The first 7 pages are just startup, sign up, and some spam.

Hello,

I started NS 4 days ago, and I enjoy RP'ing. It's quite fun, as long as people don't go overboard.

However, I have a serious problem. My military is nonexistent. I only have 6 heliocopters for an Air Force (and blueprints for a jet fighter from Ryalov), 10 G-6 tanks from Iron Blood, and several cruisers and destroyers with 3 battleships from Imperial Dominion of Sdaeriji. I also have two gun blueprints for rifles donated from an ally.

Other than that I have nothing to defend with if I get invaded, or attacked.

In addition, I've tried making friends in my friendship thread, but so far I've only been able to secure 6 friends / allies. Three of them are considerably small nations, at my approximate size.

They are...

New Zambuda, Gomostan, Rubberduckistan, Sdaeriji, Iron Blood, and Torsg.

I have recieved requests from Hataria and Hataria Mammalia to be friends and allies. However, I'm not sure whether to accept them, seeing what is going on with their RP and stuff.

Any help, support, advice, or feedback would be greatly appreciated. :D

As I have said in threads before, I don't usually work well in ground army RP's, but I think I can say that first off, you should build a strong ground force before going for air or naval forces. Remember, at most, your TOTAL armed forces should be around 2-3% of your populations total amount.
I don't know where to find them unfortunately, but there are various GDP calculators to work out how much cash you have for spending as well.

Don't deal with Hataria, he's a warmongerer.

Just observe a bit, and be happy, I'd also like to help with Character RPs, I think most people should know that the Characters I make up are fun!

Ok, admittedly if you have drafting (Used for times of war only normally), you can increase the maximum by a few percent.

I've used this one, works quite good....hope this can help. http://members.fortunecity.com/thracetailteann/html/gnp.html

And even though I'm a noob, I enjoy RPing and look forward to gathering the forces and fighting some battles.

I'd also like to participate in this. Despite being on NS for quite some time, I still am not that great at RPing, especially not huge long things.

I've been reading these boards for awhile now and still haven't really learned much in the way of RP'ing. I'd like to participate in this...

Also, on the topic of conscription, my nation has mandatory military service for all able-bodied people over 18 for a period of 3 years in a reserve unit of some sort. Therefore our reserves are staffed primarily by conscripts, but conscripts may also volunteer for front-line service. After 3 years, they're free to go. This mandatory service gives everybody some sort of experience and makes emergency call-ups and mobilizations much easier. Our nation is in a constant state of alert due to a cold war with our neighbour, so this is important for our defence.

I would very much like to learn how this space game works, as the idea of having a small fleet (Note small - Like a decked out flagship and a few other mid-small size ships.) to command and work with sounds fun, as does trading and allying with other nations. This noob-helping idea sounds Great, as long as a forum worker gets involved so that godmoders (am i using that term right?) dont make horrendously huge battle fleets and fire "Nuks n pwnzooor joooo fooos wit my nUbin Skillzzzz!" dont get a chance to ruin this. Thanks for a great idea IDF! I hope it turns out well.
