Project: Starlight.

Sevaris

(This deals with spaceflight, yes, but it's modern tech.)
Sevaris is trying to develop the Buran-class shuttle into a ship that can go to Mars and return in two weeks instead of seven months. We think we have something with nuclear propulsion. We are trying to use nuclear power to create an engine that will propel the craft at an extremely high speed. We would like some help with this, if anyone is interested.

(P.S.- This is not for military purposes- it's merely for exploration.)

ooc: Well, at their closest points, Earth and Mars are 78,340,000 kilometeres from one another. So, in order to make the trip in 336 hours (2 weeks), the craft would have to travel at 233,154.761904 km/h. Keep in mind that that's assuming the planets are at their closest points. Of course, you could launch it into an oncoming Martian orbit to shave maybe a few million kilometers off the trip, but you're still facing the prospect of a 70 million kilometer trip. You'd have to sustain speeds over 220,000 km/h for an entire two week period.

OOC: Nasa has been developing ion engines, if remember correctly they are already on the prototype stage. Maybe you should consider using that ?

One suggestion
build outside of planet
and use moon´s gravity to give the first push
ok??

Sharina
12-08-2004, 12:33
The Republic of Sharina is interested in this endeavour. It has long term goals of establishing a colony on Mars, and possibly asteroid mining in the not too distant future.

What can we do to support this endeavour? We produce Uranium from our mines, and we can supply scientists and engineers. We are a nation that appreciates the value of technology and devotes considerable resources into technological devlopment.

Thank you.
President Rand Veristek,
Leader of the Sharina People.

Seket-Hetep is glad to offer its aid to Sevaris in respect to Project Starlight.
We can offer about 750,000,000 USD in financial support, as well as two teams of 20 highly-trained nuclear physicists and aerospace engineers.
please wire for anything else, including materials and how the project is coming along.

ooc: the scientists are there as well as the cash, but i'm going to bed (finally)

Nireva will also help with sending 16 scientists.
As well some engineers, if needed.
