This will be a final decision on NS RPing and the length of a year.

I use fluid time. it's easier for RP's. and wars for that matter.

but even if you say it, it won't be a final disision. People RP in different ways. You can't just say "the way you RP is wrong" when it works. Godmodding is another story, as it dousn't work.

I don't think there should be a final decision. My opinion is that the period of time during an RP is far longer than the period of time taken outside of it. In an RP the time can stretch out to 1:1 ratio, but outside of it I think most people take 1 RL day to be 1 NS year.

I consider all wars automatically slowed down.

Somewhy . . . I -really- doubt that . . .

The average standard is 1RL day = 1NS year, as far as I can tell.

There've been a couple of discussions on this already, and usually the conclusion is "whatever you decide". I believe part of the problem is the daily population increase, which causes problems for smaller nations if their year is longer than 1RL day or so . . . Bigger nations have the inverse problem of having a too-short year . . .

Fluid time. That's the best.

I have always gone with the 1 NS year= 2 NS days. It is easily manageable and such, because i see the 19-20 million every 2 days growth similar to a years growth in a nation

Is that possible? Also, remember, the population of the US increases by less than 1 million per year... Germany is shrinking :O

I RP at whatever pace the RP demands. Sometimes a RL month can equal one NS day, and sometimes vice versa. I don't see much point in basing it off my population, as I mostly ignore that unless an RP specifically requires it.

Rapid population increase can be explained by means of *cough*.

OOC: Personally, I'm trying to keep my state stuck at an indeterminate point in time and only use time when need be.. I'm actually happy with my state size and armed forces size etc... though for sake of RP and transactions I will use time then....

If you stick with a 1 RL day = 1 NS year, then alot of nations have been stuck at the same technology level for hundreds of years. I prefer fluid time. Whatever the situation calls for.

My country stays the same tech level, but the population grows.

Usually, I go by 1 NS year=1 RL day. But if it is a war of some kind, or large even, than this slows down dramatically.

I say in RP Purchases that it should be a 1:1 ratio... but in character RP in either wars, events, or organizations that it is just slowd down or sped up to meet the needs.

Like in a war it should be slower for more time to RP. But in organizations who are planning things or making designs or such it could be sped up little depending on whats being developed or what event is going on.

I don't think there should be a set measure. Use time as you see fit, within the boundaries of reason of course. For example, I have a life outside these forums. I simply cannot be online every day. If I left for three days and that equated to three YEARS, I'd have missed out on a few things... so, as far as I'm concerned, time stalls for a while. Even if you decide on a set span of time, most poeple will ignore it when the situation calls for it, and many many more simply won't see this thread.

Fluid time. I'm not a circa 2500 nation.

Would be nice if you'd made that an option, though...

It wont.
