Located in Vitalità, ViZion - previously located in ViZion City before the Decade War forced it to be moved - the World History Library is the largest library in the world (modern-tech). Covering more than 1 million square feet, this library is truly a wonder to be taken in, and one that must be preserved when considering the historical impact it has with what it holds.
We are looking for donations of the following:
-Periodicals (Please give a little information + title)
-Books (Please give a little information + title)
-Factbooks (Please give full nations name + link)
-Artifacts (Please give a little information + name)
-Information on Historic Events (Please see the link listed below)
-Information on Organizations and Alliances (Please give information, name, and link)
This will help your nation, and the world, as people can read about your country, its history, culture, beliefs, stories, and so forth, as well as see what's important to your country! Please donate - rather it be a copy or the original - what you wish, and your nation will have its own exhibit!
We are willing to accept multi-day "field trips" from schools and groups outside ViZion - please make appointments today. You may also come as a visitor!
Original historical articles are not to be checked out, they are allowed to be viewed only within the building. Everything else may be checked out for 21 days at a time.
We also are accepting documents and artifacts from all nations about their history, culture, people, and the nation itself. If you have anything to send, please do send it to us. (OOC: You will need to discribe what it is and tell a bit about it...)
We are also looking for nations to help contribute to building a "history book" of major NS events, wars, RP's, organizations, etc. If you're donating books and periodicals, please feel free to post them in here. You can go into detail of those books and periodicals, as well as post detail on major events in the link below...
Archive Your Events Here! (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13254924#post13254924)

To Whom It May Concern,
The Shogun of Euroslavia along with his two most respected diplomats request that your nation give us a tour of the library. We congratulate you on your accomplishment, and we hope that you can give us time for a tour. Thank you.

Otherwise, as time goes on, I'm hoping nations will "donate" to this thread... actually, I think I'll make another thread for all the things in it that are donated, and as time goes on, I'll list different things in it. If you want to make something like that, go ahead, other wise I can do it...

Cardinal DeVito, who has a degree in history is intrested. He will donate a Cherry Ridge Flag, a giant Gold Cross, and a gold sign that says, Thanks to Vizion for this gift to the world ~Cardinal DeVito~
He also wonders if this exhibit (the one where you out my stuff) be named the Cherry Ridge Exhibit. He will also donate a ceremonial silver pike with a ruby tip for this exhibit.
Cardinal DEVito
ooc- great idea and why does it say Imported before yuor name?
EDIT- IC- The Cherry Ridge flag is a fancied up version of the inquisition seal it is the national flag of CR (obviosly)
The Gold cross was once in the Church of Saint John but was replaced it was in their vault and the diocese ordered it to be handed over so it could be put to better use than not being seen hence, we ggave it to you
The gold sign speaks for itself, it was a message from the Cardinal to you
the pike is a cerimonial pike that is used to guard the Cathedral of Saint Mary we have many of them so we gave that to you (silver with ruby tip)
Also we will send over Father Rick Plaza to explain the exhibit to visitors. he will be accompanied by Sisters Joy and grace. He will be renting an apartment as close as possible paid for by us.

The school boards of my nation are very excited about the opening of this fantastic educational center. In my nation, the schools are low quality and poorly funded. I have decided to increase funding so that they may have yearly fieldtrips to your newly opened library, about 2 schools at a time. Please contact me if this will be allowed, and what the schedule should be.

As for the tours, I would suggest waiting an (NS) year (a few RL days or a RL week maybe) before getting your tours in, as we are still adding much to this library as you can see. We don't want your students to miss out on a large amount of history and culture.

The Island of Rose

There was an Island, and people immigrated to that Island. Russians, English, Spanish, Germans even some Frenchmen went there. And then... well you know. The Island of Rose's history is one filled with eccentricities and war. Peace and just plain insanity. But this is what makes Rose, Rose. The Island of Rose is named for it's many many Rose fields. Which are protected by law and anybody destroying one will get the death penalty. No seriously, they will. The major cities sit on the coast and inside these Rose fields and most of the Population live in small little towns and villages. The major cities are:
Rose:The Capital city and the most busy port of the Island. It is a huge stop for trade and over 1 Million people live in the city.
Roska: A former Russian colony, it's home to over 1,200,000 people. A military port, home to one of the Rosian Navy's fleets. It is also home to the Streaking Hall of Fame.
Rosingrad: Formally known as New Greenland, it was taken over at the Revolution and renamed Rosingrad. This is a hot spot for Englishmen and it's population is 900,000.
Red: The second newest major city. Built right after the Revolution it is home to only 500,000. This is a major Hispanic city and if you're not careful with the women you will be beaten, by the women. This is also a major historical site. Home to many monuments in honor of the Rose's history.
Eltengrad: Home to Germans, this city is famous for it's cheap hamburgers and sausages. It's also famous for it's weird German accents. Population is 1,500,000
Rosktai: Home to most Spec Op operatives. It is famous for providing the best soldiers in the Army. It's also where the most crime happens. Currently this is where a small mob is trying to take power. But we'll handle that. Current population is 2,000,000. This is due to the number of underground homes. They're nice looking though.
Ilyanovastein: The newest city to the Island. Named after the current President, Sergei Ilyanov. It's population is 900,000 and it functions like a normal city. It's also home to many retired persons.
History:
The Island of Rose was nothing but a small Island, home to many colonies. Until 1812, June 5th. That day, all the cities united, and pledged to rid themselves of this tyranny. But luckily they all left to political reasons and there was no bloodloss. The Rosians call this the Red Revolution, as a joke. After the colonists lost the cities decided to make a loose Federation to defend themselves. And so they lived in a Feudal way of live until 1900. Nothing much happened between the years, Streaking was still a sport and trade and the economy prospered. The people were happy... until 1900, which is when the Industrial Revolution took off.
There were no limits to capatilism, for 30 years the people suffered under the wrath of the Coporations. The cities had one major Corporation, but it was ruled under one giant Corporation. Rose Inc. The CEO was Elto Ilyanovastein. Then, the Communist Manifesto sneaked it's way towards the many local bars. The Rosian Phantom, because nobody knows how he looks like or what his name is, got a submachine gun and ran towards the CEO's building. He shot anything that moved. He soon reached his office, rumors said the last words the CEO heard was "For Marx." Bang, the CEO was dead on the floor, his blood pooling. A Revolution was on! This was not a bloodless Revolution, this was a 3 year Civil War. This climaxed into the taking of the City of Rose. Now they were free, but who would run them?
There was a rush to make a federal goverment, a Constitution. All based on the ideas of Marx. Five years after, the cities were united under One Party Rule from the Communist Party. They abolished old racist laws, gave more to the people and provided free housing for the poor. All this meant a rise on taxes, which almost started a revolution. It was put down luckily by a universal streaking match. In which after they were drugged and they forgot.
For 20 years, One Party Rule dominated the Island. One day, a man against communism spoke out. He was arrested. The contreversy known as the "The Red Hater" Contreversy spoke out. They demanded seats in Parliament, representation, more rights. The police put them down. The General Secretary, because there was no President yet, decided to give them seats in Parliament. Because of this taxes lowered and the economy improved.
The 60s are known as the Red Age of the Island of Rose, beacause it was at it's finest. No crime, no problems, no war. It was peace, peace, peace. Becaues of this, there was too much, sex, sex, sex. This lead to a boom in the population. It also lead to problems in the 70s and 80s.
The 70s and 80s are know as the Age of the Right Wing's Revenge. Because of the amount of disease spread through out the population boom, there was a shortage in medical supplies. The economy also went down as a result. A 20 year recession was on it's way. Also a war to take out the Rosian Eagles was underway. They were spreading a disease known as Red Bump. This gave the sufferer soars on him and horrible pain. It was the Island's own Vietnam war, 900,000 died in this war due to sickness. There seemed no hope...
...Until the 90s! The early 90s, were the worst. People were looking for a fresh young leader. This is when the very own Sergei Ilyanov ran for President. He flooded the ballots, winning 95% of the vote. With him, he implemented socialist and capatilist methods to improve the economy. He also increased health spending and is currently fixing the military. He joined his nation with the International, Victoria, and the United Nations. He was also Delegate for a time. Yes, he saved the Island from it's ruin and now it's doing better then before. And now, only God knows what's ahead...

Rosian Culture:
The Rosians are known to be eccentric by nature. They're national sport is streaking. They judge by size, bounce, proportion, speed, and agility. The current champion is a nudist and resides in the City of Roska. They are known to be very liberal about topics. Though, they can be insane at times. They are also very anti-dictatorship. This is due to the fact that Facists are shot on site, and the police "didn't see the crime". They also are a very compassionate and intelligent people and spit on ignorance. Ironically, you can still be dumb and vote. The roads are also dangerous, with trucks sporting 50 Calibur machine guns and grenade launchers, it can be terrifying, which is why people walk, and which is why the Rosians are a fit people. Due to steaking, pornagraphy is also very cheap. 5 cents is the least and 5$ is the most in prices. Their food consists of hispanic style foods, such as rice, chicken, pastries, and croquettes. Alcohol is only consumed in special holidays, such as Christmas. Talking about Christmas most Rosians are Roman Catholics, but don't act like them, heh heh. The music Rosians like are rap and techno, even the President listens to them. Guns are plentiful and it keeps crime down. It also makes the Rosians even more dangerous in formal society. The Rosians hate suits and prefer a t-shirt and jeans, which is why suits cost 10,000$ and it's better to sow your own. In the end, Rosians are insane and eccentric, so tread lightly...
Rosian Geography:
The geography is mostly flatland, with two major rivers cutting into the City of Rose and the City of Roska. Small villages and towns scatters the Island with a rocky coast protecting the shoreline. That's about it...

It symbolizes the status of Arn de Gothia. He was a High Priest, and he was a fierce warrior. He originated from either France or England, it's not sure..
The Choson People's Republic of Dra-pol, keen to spread truth and the Kurosite word, has offered several copies of the first foreign editions of comrade Director Secretay Hotan's work, Student Of The Kuro Revolution (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=345905).
Printed primarily in Beth Gellert and China (as well as domestically, in forms that are not exported), the short text is just an example of what is believed to be a series of similar works in Drapoel print. New versions are regularly penned and inclusive of new Directions and relating to new Great Struggles. An example of the English Beth Gellen edition may be found at the given link.
Copies with serial numbers in single or double figures, and printed in English, Chinese, Welsh, and possibly Spanish are to be offered in the short term. It is probably unlikely that a Drapoel-language version will be exported in the near future.

The Commonwealth congratulates the nation of ViZion for the construction of such a monument to learning. The Complete Works of Wang Wei, a rare manuscript from Ancient China, chronicles the work of that legendary Tang poet. It was brought to Granzi by Chinese immigrants in the late 1900s. The manuscript disappeared at the turn of the century, and was only recently recovered in a raid on black market elements. The original is too fragile to be transported, but our expert scholars have made several authentic reproductions. One of them will be shipped to the library, arriving in 1 NS week. We hope this gift will be accepted.

President Davis follows President Maybury to the presidential limos. The guards with the constitution are closely beside President Davis. The door to one of the limos Davis brought from Dhabi opens it’s doors and President Davis extends him arm out to direct and welcome President Maybury in to the vehicle and then President Davis unbuttons his suit and slides into the car. While the two presidents are being put in the first limo the second one is being filled with staff and the constitution. To the librarians surprise, they open the doors of the library to find two different crates of books from Dresina. One, marked with the official seal of Dresina and has a note that reads:
"From the personal library of the People's Commissar of State, Tenet Khan. These books are the classic books of Dresina, and indeed mandatory in evey house."
This crate contains the books:
"A Full History of Dresina" : Y. Colyavich (heavily censored)
"Tenet Khan - A Life, A Legend" : Boris Ivanovitch, People's Commissar of News and Media
"The Wonders of Dresina" : Dresina Tourist Society (Approved by B.I.PCoN)
"Socialist Thought, Comrade's In Arms" : Boris Ivanovitch
The second crate has no seal, and in one of the first books in the crate your librarians find a hastily scrawled note.
"From the Dresina Resistance Movement, With Love -Yura Mayavitch"
This crate contains the books:
"A Full History of Dresina" : Y. Colyavich (Uncensored, it shows the oppression and suffering of many of Dresina's population)
"Tenet Khan - Life, Legend - or Liar?" : Yura Mayavitch
"A Freedom Fighter's Thought's" : Unknown

Hello, as the central AI core for the Final Encyclopedia/Greater Synopticon of Entirty, we are interested in scanning all the information in your library and making it available in digital format. Our goal as the Final Encyclopedia is to absorb all of human knowledge.
We would of course make all the digital information scanned available to you for free and provide 200 lightweight electronic ink readers. These weigh about 9 ounces each, and have the capacity to hold 80 books each, the fonts are adjustable and have resolution as good or better than paper. They are rechargeable using a miniaturized fuel cell battery which lasts for about 8000 page turnes before needing recharging. The screen is 6 inches x 8 inches. The tablet is made of a durable bioplastic harder than steel and 1/2 inch thick.
Initially we would scan uncopyrighted material providing a permanent record for rare and unusual items. All scanned items would be fit into a special searchable code with a self organizing hierarchical information structure for subject headings. We would provide you with 10 computers to access the permanent records which we would be building. These are second generation space manufactured diamond chip processors with holographic memory cube storage. The diamond material is industrial diamonds from the gemesis process.
In addition 10 Da Vinci scanners would be included. This is a reader with an automatic page turner built into the machine. It can handle multiple sizes and formats of books.
After uncopyrighted material was scanned we would start a permission request system for acquiring additional information to add to the database. It is not our wish to interfere with international law or copyright. We wish to make this a seamless experience. The equipment provided would be yours to keep.
OOC: I am using Microsoft's Open Content Alliance as a model for this, not the messy Google books thing which is causing problems.

The University of Esmund, in Siap, would be willing to accept documents and historical articles and keep them safe for ViZion.
We thank you for this offer, and all remaining historical articles that have not made it to Jarridia will be sent to Siap. We do require that you arrange the transportation due to our inability to spare anything.
We have heard of your nation's attempt to store historical knowledge and would like to offer backup storage space in our country's archives. It would be catastrophic to lose critical data in the event of a disruption, and continued expansion of your archives will put further demand on your facilities for data storage.
We would be willing to lease it to you for as long as you need; the current price is $0.01 per terabyte of storage space, and that will likely be cut with further improvements in data storage as time passes. Our networks are effectively foolproof and have abundant backup to prevent any critical data loss.
We hope you consider our offer,
Leonid Artsybashev, Procurator, Vetalian National Archives
We thank you for this offer, and all remaining historical articles that have not made it to Jarridia will be sent to Siap. We do require that you arrange the transportation due to our inability to spare anything.
We are able to supply our own means of transportation. And we wish you the best of fortune.

Due to a current situation in ViZion, we will not be accepting anything from any nation at this time. We request you hold it in safe keeping until the situation in ViZion ends.
Thank you,
Joshua Winston - WHL President
You mean that you'd turn down "Debbie Does Dallas" and "Cemetary Girls" in 26 different languages? And I have the one existing copy of "Exploring Your Nostrils" by I.B. Pikinem........I'd be honored for you to have it.

We are not turning it down completely, but at this time there is simply to much risk of the destruction of these documents upon their arrival to ViZion due to the current war - half of ViZion has been invaded, the rest Doomingsland and his allies are attempting to take over.
If you wish, send it to either Jarridia or Siap, as those two nations are accepting the documents to keep them safe.

Thank you.
Be careful - Doomingsland and his allies likely will not be so kind to your transportation - rather it be ships or airplanes - while they are attempting to take us over.

Zwangzug
13-07-2007, 15:59
Zwangzug is delighted to donate to the World Library, even if we don't like that H word very much.
Some of our tomes include:
The Ashanemas (original language and English translation): a collection of various folktales and legends, dating back to the earliest days of the nation (about 1,500 years ago, though some are more recent). Some of these are retold, with various modifications, orally among the tribal peoples dwelling in the country's rainforest. Others hark back to a time when the ancestors of the early settlers lived under a harsh monarch. And yet others are still popular modern fairy tales (a variant of the infamous "Freddy the Fool" was first chronicled in one). The originals are written in a unique variant of Hindi-Urdu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindustani_language).
ÆggðshúÞǫdök (original language and English translation): a comic poem detailing the misadventures of a pirate ship, about 1,000 years old. Though it might appear to be the compilation of various authors, the unity of humor presented (combined with the fact that sailing is not a traditional theme in the mountainous country) seems to imply that is the work of a single writer. The original is written in some Norse dialect no longer spoken in the nation.
Giraffes, Elephants, Baboons: an Equatorial Grasslands Bestiary: written by professor Egbert B. Gebstadter of the Artificial Intelligence University (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Artificial_Intelligence_University), the book considers animals such as the titular triad (as well, inexplicably, as zebras), arguing that the capacities they possess implies that then-current definitions (the book is about 30 years old) of "intelligence" are lacking.
Copper, Silver, Gold: an Indestructible Metal Alloy (Algebraic English (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Algebraic_English), in fact, the first book written in that dialect): Gebstadter's outstanding work, arguing the case for artificial intelligence.
The Seven-Color Theorem: Mary Backs' (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Mary_Backs) trilogy, which her computer game StateNations was designed to promote. (A plot summary may be found in the wiki article.)
The library will also, of course, be given subscriptions to Zwangzug's two leading paper newspapers (the Merano Regency (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Merano_Regency) and Bangkok Scoresheet, as well as access to the e-Lipogram (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Lipogram).

Zwangzug Exhibit
-The Ashanemas (original language and English translation): a collection of various folktales and legends, dating back to the earliest days of the nation (about 1,500 years ago, though some are more recent). The originals are written in a unique variant of Hindi-Urdu
-ÆggðshúÞǫdök (original language and English translation): a comic poem detailing the misadventures of a pirate ship, about 1,000 years old. Though it might appear to be the compilation of various authors, the unity of humor presented (combined with the fact that sailing is not a traditional theme in the mountainous country) seems to imply that is the work of a single writer. The original is written in some Norse dialect no longer spoken in the nation.
-Giraffes, Elephants, Baboons: an Equatorial Grasslands Bestiary: written by professor Egbert B. Gebstadter of the Artificial Intelligence University, the book considers animals such as the titular triad (as well, inexplicably, as zebras), arguing that the capacities they possess implies that then-current definitions (the book is about 30 years old) of "intelligence" are lacking.
-Copper, Silver, Gold: an Indestructible Metal Alloy (Algebraic English, in fact, the first book written in that dialect): Gebstadter's outstanding work, arguing the case for artificial intelligence.
-The Seven-Color Theorem: Mary Backs' trilogy, which her computer game StateNations was designed to promote. (A plot summary may be found in the wiki article.)
-The library will also, of course, be given subscriptions to Zwangzug's two leading paper newspapers (the Merano Regency and Bangkok Scoresheet, as well as access to the e-Lipogram.

Third Spanish States
06-04-2009, 08:23
The Confederacy wishes to donate the following books:
History
Shell Democracies(2010-2020): The detailed history of the rise of despotism through Europe after an Oil Crash provoked by mistaken claims regarding Peak Oil, and of men who fought for freedom during this period.
The Second Spanish Civil War(2014-2019): Book about one of the key events in both Confederacy and People's Republic of Spain formating, the Second Spanish Civil War was triggered by the oppression of "emergency powers" and by a renaissance of socialism and anarchism due to the deep crisis the world was suffering at such epoch. From the first skirmishes to the eventual storm of the Moncloa Palace, murder of the Spanish president by a group of anarchist militias led by Júlio Santiago and formation of Soviet Spain.
The Spanish Revolution(2019-2023): Details the struggle of the southwestern anarchist communes against the new Stalinist government of Spain, and the first steps taken to create the Confederacy. Such book doesn't hide the fact most of the initial infrastructure of the Confederacy was sacked from Spain.
History of a Young Civilization(2023-2039): The history of the Confederacy from its foundation to current times, and details on its demographic and economical boom, and subsequent crime problems.
Non-Fiction
The Anarchist Cookbook: Enhanced Edition: One of the most polemic books ever published in the Confederacy. At a glance, it is nothing besides an easy-to-read guide for guerrilla warfare tailored for the average person, including suggestions regarding enemies which don't care about violating loads of human rights. Some of its content, including its obvious defense to act of suicide in face of imminent torture or enslavement, its support of combining suicide with self-induced contamination with deadly viruses and bacterias against certain types of imperialist nations, and even that killing one's own children to save them from being enslaved is a justifiable act, are what make such book so polemic.
The Real Counterculture: A book about true counter-culture movements rather than "fancy teenage poseurs and cheap pop 'I am rebel' music", considered "elitist" anywhere besides the Confederacy due to its slandering of most types of Punk Rock, all types of Hippies, Emos, Goths and similar, while making homage to artists and movements most average people aren't even aware of, including classical Dadaists like Erwin Shulhoff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erwin_Schulhoff), and Neo-Dadaist painters, sculptors and musicians of the Confederacy. It also dismisses misconceptions like the idea pianists can't be part of a counterculture movement, and also contains several criticisms of post-modern art, which is considered by the book "a meaningless form of expressing meaninglessness for, perhaps, the sake of profit".
Non-coercive Pedagogy: A polemic book about how to educate children without groundings or any form of punishment, but by "giving them freedom to learn". Although well founded and written by specialists in both Pedagogy, Sociology, Psychology and Anthropology, it is severely criticized outside of the Confederacy, and its authors have openly claimed that most of the criticisms are fruit of a "conformist mindset to the idea that mankind has always been hierarchical, rather than forced into such condition through constructs of individuals with flawed moral genes".
Revolutionizing Culture: The Unbelievable Commune of Kell: Another Psycho-sociological treatise, which seeks to establish a scientific treatise on how to radically change a cultural mindset through different methods for the goal of provoking definitive radical changes in an existing society which can be maintained without any form of coercion or governmental regulation, from its economy to its system of government, using the practical example of the Commune of Kell as a case, as well as the shifts in the culture of the Spanish people who settled in the Confederacy. It essentially places itself as the "alternative to the inevitably flawed method of establishing a 'dictatorship of the proletariat' for the same goal".
Fighting Crime Without Prisons, Cops and Courts: Volume 1: Another extremely polemic book that uses ethical, economical and sociological arguments to advocate the abolition of traditional Court systems and prisons and to argument that death is more humane than any prison when considering heinous crimes, and that no human deserves imprisonment. It focus on rehabilitation of those "who still have a glint of humanity" and on getting rid of those who don't due to pure convenience, rather than as a form of punishment. Further serving for heated debates, it also advocates the end of the centralization of police power into a few individuals, while detailing the Third Spanish States system of justice, pejoratively known as "Twelve gauge justice", and comparing its effectiveness to that of traditional methods through crime statistics taken form several countries across the world. The first Volume doesn't discuss the rampant wave of international computer crimes and online frauds originated from the Confederacy, although the author is currently writing a specific book about the mystique and prevalence of White, Grey and Black Hat hackers in the Confederacy, to deal with the subject.
