Mackamus

The Emperor of Mackamus, his majesty Rudolph the Third, sat before his war cabinet as the meeting came to order. Directly opposite sat the Prime Minister Cecil Walters, a powerhouse of a man formerly of the Royal Mackamus Navy. As the ministers quickly found their seats, Rudolph found his mind wandering over the events of the past few weeks - events that had led his nation into its most trying situation...
It had begun with a discovery, made by the agents of a trusted alliance member. The nation of Glasgow Caley, considered small and insignificant by many Mackamanians, had been performing spying operations on the military capabilities of the Irradiated Alliance ands its principal members. Wary to trust the information of foreign - though trusted - spies, the cabinet had sent a telegram highlighting the infringements and demanding an explanation.
The reply received was insufficient, and the government had found itself in a position where a strong worded telegram was necessary to deter any future infringements on the territorial boundaries of Mackamus. It had subtley hinted at war...
Soon, reports came in from the police forces recording a huge increase in violent crime and drugs abuse, particularly in the run down inner-city areas. Following a ruthless operation carried out almost predominately by the harsh and ruthless secret service of Kubadi it was discovered that Glasgow Caley had intentionally shipped huge quantities of a most potent and addictive drug onto the streets of Mackamus. A drug that the Glasgow Caley government had fought for years, that had cost the lives of thousands had been purposely distributed to the peoples of the Irradiated Alliance. The strong-worded telegram had been ignored too - a feeble reply suggesting cooperation between the two and so forth.
Following the discovery of such underhand tactics, the government had found itself with little choice but to respond in force. As the drug pushers were ruthlessly purged from the streets, the borders of the Irradiated Alliance was shut and those people of Glasgow Caley descent sent to Iranistadt for... detention. Leave for those in the armed forces was cancelled, and all were order to report to their nearest bases for immediate mobilisation.
And now here they were, at a state of war. The telegram had been sent not a few hours hence, yet already the Alliance prepared for war!
"What have we got then?" Rudolph asked bruskly.
Many eyes turned to the defence minister as he examined the papers before him. "Your majesty, the mobilisation plans have already been set in motion. forward elements of Task Force Justice have already left port and are meeting at the rendevouz point with out allies. We should have complete deployment in forty-eight hours. Word has reached that Iranistadt has suffered some difficulties but..."
"What difficulties?"
"A brief civil war, your majesty, but the new government accedes to all promises and commitments made by the previous administration. They have indicated that advance units may already be within the borders of Glasgow Caley, but it is too early to confirm."
"It didn't occur at the best of times but we must continue!" Rudolph sighed.
"Yes your majesty. Task Force Retribution has returned from maneuvores with the Kubadi Fleet and has regrouped in the South Pacific. It shall remain there and await further orders."
"Good. I understand we received a telegram from the King of Crookfur?"
"Why yes your Majesty." Prime Minister Walters replied. "They have offered and carried out plans to place the Rad Zone under their nuclear umbrella your majesty. We have little to worry about from unwelcome guests."
"Gentlemen, this is all good news. We shall retire to pray for the lives that we hold in our hands. May God be on our side as we defend our nation - dismissed."
Outside the cabinet ministers huddled. "Getting a bit melodramatic in his older years isn't he?"
