An order to his minister for the military was all it took President Mason to begin the deadly conquest of that evacuated nation. He nodded, knowing that soon Serya troops would be scattering all over the country, taking over vital stashes of weapons, airports, and ports all along the coast, that interceptors would be running patrol routes around the short-lived nation of Angola. The truth, he mused, was that it would actually be good for the country. It had never established a true, working government, as arguments between three or four factions kept it from discovering what was really going on. He thought it was another true example of the supremacy of the Caucasian, that they were able to form a government, and so he would intervene in that nation and create a government capable of ruling them, capable of forming them into something that achieved something rather than murdering each other while their families died of starvation and disease - he would bring cures they had run out of stores of since that annoying blunder with the Fabus regime, and he would bring food and spend money to create a nation there that would function.

OOC: Please note that no movements of troops have been carried out and no announcements to the public have been made. At this point only three or four people know what's going on.

Grand Chamberlain Niyazov of the United Socialist States of Turkmeny sat in his resplendent office in his ceremonial Field Marshal's uniform. His economy was on a downward trend and there was strife throughout the nation. He needed something ... anything ... to enlong his regime ... and his life.

He sighed heavily and looked through a selection of newspapers on his desk. He read of the bloodshed in Angola and of increasing international interest in the region. Niyazov sat up as he read the reports of the country. It was virtual anarchy, any nation could go in at any time and take over, and cleanse the region of those dirty Africans and create a new, Caucasian republic.

Turkmeny was too weak to do this on his own, Niyazov realized. He called his Secretary of Defense, and told him to write secret telegrams to allied nations to see if any would be willing in sharing in this great crusade...

*OOC: Seryown, can we assume one of my telegrams reaches your President?

The Czar looked over the intelligence reports and then looked up at Yuri Golovko, the Intelligence Director.

"What does this all mean?"

"It means, sir, that there are rumors going around in the underground that nations are preparing to strike at Communist Mississippi's territories. What nations, I dont' know."

"Okay. Find out, and report back."

Premier Mannerheim was reviewing some maps of Africa when his Defence Minister entered.

"Paine, have you gotten a chance to take a look at these maps? Seems that CM's territories are some of the most valuable lands in all of Africa...," the Premier said.

"Precisely. We've got reports that there's rumblings of some nations assuming control of Angola or some other CM territories in Africa. We can't confirm, but there's a lot of noise about it," Paine added.

"Keep me informed. We've little interest in Africa- but we must look out for our troops." Alec then went back to work.

CM is announcing to the world that it has stationed 1,000 mobile launchers in Mississippian Libya and 1,000 mobile launchers in Mississippian Egypt, and that these have been placed under Commonwealth Authority.

Commonwealth governments in ME and ML have declared that any attempt to invade them will result in the use of strategic weaponry.

Cruise missiles streaked out of several ships near the carriers and into strategic locations around the city, including the Governor's Mansion, munitions stores, and high-rise buildings occupied by Angolan attackers. YF-12 interceptors began to fly missions around the nation, keeping troops out. Littoral Combat Ships from the carrier groups moved to Lobito to close trade to that city down. F/A-18 Hornets disrupted important rail lines around the country, halting the movement of troops by train.
Meanwhile, marines that were rapidly becoming battle-hardened moved through Luanda, dispatching resistance and occupying buildings in defensive positions.

Since CM is evidently ready to launch strategic weapons at us, we have ordered all SSBNs to sea immediately, all tactical SSMs with the Libyan units ready for launch, all ICBMs at launch readiness, and all nuclear bombers into the air. Again. CM's aggressiveness is not making us any more inclined to reduce military spending on new equipment or training, or to give any quarter at any time. Digging your own graves, gentlemen.

07-08-2004, 19:56
Over the last few weeks, the Granzian government had taken a special interest in Communist Mississippi. Orders had come out of the Prime Minister's office to keep CM and it's 'Commonwealth' under constant surveillance. The report had filtered down through the layers of bureaucracy, passing through many of the Ministries along the way. It had finally reached Major General Tusay, commander of the CommOp Center in Reunion. He then rerouted many of the 'optical' satellites so they would pass over Libya, Egypt, and Angola.

Then came the collapse of the CM empire. Special attention had been given to Angola, when the country dissolved into chaos. As the colonial authority left, Seryown troops arrived. Though Tusay was suspicious over their motives, particularly once he recieved a file detailing their status as the sole foreign power left, he could do nothing. Granzi was still neutral. Most of the satellites were rearranged to pre-Angola positions, although the Major General managed to keep one left over the nation. Every morning, Tusay would pour over the images, looking for clues.

Today he found it. Tusay stepped into the Operational HQ, a mug of steaming coffee in one hand. Taking occasional sips, greeted each of the operative by name. Heading over to the corner console, he logged on and opened the daily file. The first snapshot grabbed his attention. He could see dozens of plumes rising from the known position of the Seryown fleet. Quickly thumbing through them, he found the missiles impacted in Angola. He switched to IR. No mistake, and several shots also featured fresh bomb craters. Seryown was taking over.

Within minutes, a transmission was sent several nations. Marked Urgent, one was sent to DPUO, another to Greenmanbry, and finally one to Sevaris.

Enclosed are several high resolution photos taken this morning in Angola. We believe Seryown is launching a campaign to take Angola.

"Yes, comrade, we did." His companion, an Air Defences Major, sighed deeply. "What now?"
"Send it to the PM, marked urgent."

Within 10 minutes of the Granzian satellite photograph having been sent, there was activity. At piers along the west coast, ships began to take on provisions, hundreds of them, and aircraft to load warloads yet again. The Navy and Naval Aviation were well-paid, and they earned it. They were always the first out in any action. Before very long, smoke was rising for the stacks of many destroyers, cruisers and frigates.

Occ- Ships today mostly run on nuclear power. If you're putting smoke out of stacks, you must be using rather old (coal-burning) ships. They haven't put smoke stacks on ships in God knows how long. Exhaust vents are what are used today, not smoke stacks. The IC implication is that DPUO is using WW1 era ships and thus his navy is horribly obsolete.

OOC: Stacks, vents, whatever. Many ships actually still use gas-turbines or diesel engines, because nuclear power is damn expensive. To name a few:

Kuznetsov CV (Oil-fired steam turbines)
Udaloy DDG (gas-turbines)
Sovremennyy DDG (oil-fired steam turbines)
Kirov-class CGN (CONAS - combined nuclear and steam)
Ticonderoga CG (Gas-turbines)
Arleigh Burke DDG (gas-turbines)
Spruance DD (gas-turbines)

Hence the fact that fast supply ships such as the Boris Chilikin and Bridge classes exist. Nuclear plants are more expensive and believe it or not nuclear-powered turbines are apparently less efficient than diesels or gas-turbines turning the shafts.

And in addition, most ships have no need of nuclear plants. Only pretty large or pretty fast ships need a nuclear power plant, and that, incombination with the cost, is why only the larger ships get them. Don't try and BS me on this kind of thing. I read FAS.com and other pages for fun.

Do you have any proof to indicate I intend to enslave anyone? Although our House president is a white-supremacist, we can basically guarantee that he'll never get any racist laws of any kind passed through the House.

OOC: The truth is that most of the current quasi-imperialist House was elected because of concerns of overcrowding - if you look at our claims, you'll see why. Meanwhile, Angola is in a state of civil war with no stable government and damage done far beyond what it can ever repair - we are taking over the country for our own good, and ultimately for theirs. Once again, we intend no human rights violations of any kind.

"Hmm," the Czar said. "I want some of Angolia. It will give another gateway into Commuinist Mississippi when conflict arises."

"Will do, sir," Field Marschall Frederick von Hindenburg, CommanderinChief of the Dersconi Imperial Army, responded.

"Yessir!" THe gigantic quarter-arcre screen lit up with the image of north and west Africa.

"Hmm," the Field Marschall thought aloud. I wonder...

"Get me General Patton." The video screen beside the giant didgital map lit up and General of the Army George Patton, commander of the First Corps, came on the screen. "Yes, sir?" Hindenburg motioned to the NCO to move the videoscreen so it faced the display.

"General Patton, I want your personal opinion. With aid from allies, do you think we could pull off a campaign starting from Angola, heading through Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, and Chad, and then hitting Free Lybia?"

"We could most definitely do it. I don't know if First Corps could do it alone, but if you threw in Second Corps, First Fleet, and First Air Corps, you could easily take it."

"Okay, then. I will be asking Bismarck to call a meeting of the General Staff soon." When the video screen shut off, Imperial Aeromarschall Ramius Aerostalvich walked in. "You wanted to see me, Frederick?"

"Yes, I did, Ramius. I need you to do me a favor."

"What is that?"

"Keep the nuclear arms of DEFCON 2."

Aerostalvich was a little surprised at that. "Why?"

"It will keep tensions up. I want that. As long as tensions are up, we can mobilise without anyone taking too much notice. If we mobilized during peacetime, people would wonder."

"Okay. Will do."

The United Socialist States of Turkmeny, concerned that its own interests in the region will be lost, is preparing to deploy 35,000 veteran troops into Luanda.

Turkmeny has announced that its troops will be arriving by troop transport planes in the Luanda airport, and has asked that they not be engaged, as they will be used merely to secure Turkmeny assets, not for any large scale military engagement.

In a secret telegram to Seryown, Grand Chamberlain Niyazov writes:

DEPLOYING 35000 ARMY REGULARS STOP LUANDA AIRPORT STOP LED BY GENERAL REVENTLOV STOP BEING PUT UNDER YOUR COMMAND STOP TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT ONLY STOP
Seryown
07-08-2004, 23:56
Turkmeny: Denied - we can and will handle this on our own. C-130s or other aircraft that fly into the area will be downed by YF-12 patrols until the war is over, as a security concern.

The United Angolan Front today surrendered to the Serya Army, who took all of their weapons and took into custody those who had ordered particularly destructive attacks. Meanwhile, Marines and Army soldiers have captured Porto Amboin, sustaining high losses. Civilians are beginning to move into the area, beginning with a preliminary government and workers for vital facilities. Engineer construction crews have begun projects to modernize the rail system over Angola. In other news, Derscon has been granted two small bases in the north, one for a small army establishment and the other including an airstrip for air movement. Both facilities are at present empty.

A telegram is sent to Seryown saying the transports are just landing to refuel, then will launch back towards Turkmeny. Meanwile, the Zambian goverrment has agreed to transport the troops overland to Angola.

Marines reached Luena and conquered it with surprisingly little resistance. In the intervening distance they had found diamond and uranium mines, farmers and abandoned farms, dead bodies and signs of bloodshed everywhere. They had reached the city and found a similar scene, but it looked like the people were tired of fighting and most of them refused to fight, even coming out of their homes to surrender their guns to the soldiers, their only way of indicating surrender to the soldiers that didn't understand their language. They dutifully left a garrison and continued to expand the perimeter. Meanwhile, to the south, the army has begun to storm into Lobito, but even with air cover it is proving to be more difficult than the rest of the fighting. Meanwhile, the old rail system is being completely dismantled to gain materials for a new, modernized system, and a grand Conference Hall is in construction as the centerpiece to Luanda as a capitol of a new Angola.

OOC: Veteran doesn't mean anything, really. It's more ceremonial then anything else, like how the USS Saratoga is considered a "veteran" Aircraft carrier. I didn't really mean anything by it. My nation is present-day Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on a map. These soldiers make up 1/10 of my total army, but 1/3 of my trained regulars. The rest are volunteers or reserve. Since they are being flown to Lusaka via cargo planes and they will have to stay in Lusaka for resupply and such, I am going to give you two days before the troops begin to move towards Angola.

On a second note, I am not expecting to win a battle, and I am not going to godmod and say "my veteran troops kill all of you!!1111" or anything like that. I expect to have my 35,000 troops completely crushed. This is mostly to gain RP experience and also it fits with the psyche of Chamberlain Niyazov, my dictator, who is completely psychotic and aggressive. So as I said, in two days I will write a post detailing the movement from Lusaka towards the border with Angola, where I will give you one more day before they press into Angola. If you want to plan something more specific then just a random battle, you can TM me. Otherwise, see you in two days.

Marines have finally, after significantly heavy casualties, taken the cities of Lobito and Benguela after heavy fighting. Securing the airport in Lobito means that Seryown now has air control over the nation. Unfortunately, targeted bombing was necessarry, but point-bombs were used and destruction has been kept relatively low. Marine casualties are high, and the country has had to temporarily stop shipping their Red Blood medals to Angola because they hadn't expected the injury count to be so high.

An intriguing development today came as the remaining major geurilla force surrendered to the Serya Marines. Seryown immediately occupied the city and took the guns from all members of the group. All those suspected of ordering deadly attacks have been taken into custody pending tribunal.
Engineers have linked Luanda, Ambriz, and Soyo with a high-speed rail/monorail system in the first step of bringing that rail system to major cities all over the nation. Emigrants from Seryown are flocking in by the hundreds, and many of them are very happy to become farmers in those areas abandoned by Mississippian farmers. Construction on a university has begun, and copies of hundreds of books are being made to populate its library. Housing projects are already expanding the cities, and a fishing fleet is under construction. The major casino industries are preparing to introduce casinos onto the scene, which will be a massive source of employment for all Serya. Voting machines are being imported into the major cities and campaigns are under way to establish the Angolan representatives to the House of Seryown. A single mass grave has been dug northeast of Luanda to hold all the unburied bodies from the area, and a consecration speech is expected to be given soon, in which a monument to the dead will unveiled. Diamond and uranium mines long abandoned are being reoccupied and roads that people had long thought were dirt have had the asphalt recovered.
Angolans and white farmers who chose to remain behind from CM need only take the oath of allegiance to Seryown to become citizens.
Meanwhile, Serya troops are beginning to move north and west, to guard against possible imminent attack.

Dersconi Army Base, Angola

The converted C-130s touched down at the Army bases' airstrip. THe M1A1 Abrams battle tanks were rolling off the tracks and going into makeshift gradges until the bunker complex can be completed. THe barracks are housing only five hundred Marines and the construction crew at the moment.
A development was chosen that the base would run off of solar power, with a nuclear powerplant as a backup. At the moment, though, the electricity wasn't set up yet, so it is hot as hell.
Instead of the normal fortress-like feel of concrete walls and towers, only a chainlink fence, some barbed wire, and a couple machine gun bunkers lined the boundary of the base. The solar power equippment was being shipped soon, thankfully. The First level of the Bunker complex is almost complete. Then, the tanks can be stored under there.

1200 Paratroopers (But they have no C-130s now)
1600 Cavalrymen and Infantrymen (They still have hummers and horses)

The whites were joined by 8,000 black farm workers that had been trained in basic weapons skills and tactics. They were not battle-hardened elite soldiers as were the white resistance fighters, but they were decent and they were dedicated. Their goal was to restore Angola to white rule, be it CM, white farmer rule, etc. The thing that all these men had in common was they were all in the "White Knights of Angola" formed by ex-WKM members when they quit the WKM in disgust after the Imperial Army pulled out and left the colonial army to bear the burden of defense. The black fighters were also White Knights of Angola, but they were in the reserve corp of the WKA.

THe comm station was up and running, since the solar panels were up and running. Power is now flowing to all parts of the base, and a hefty power surplus was created, and it was being stored. All the buildings now have air conditioning, so the soldiers don't feel like shit. Running water was finally made available, but the soldiers are told not to use it much. About three million bottles of water are being stored underground in a refrigerated room to Drink, since the running water is scarce. More wells are being pumped, but I probably won't last long.

General Reventlov of the Turkmeny Expeditionary Force was under strict orders to keep the movement of his army inconspicuous, but he was a glory hog. All 35,000 troops were in full dress uniform as they marched through the streets of Lusaka to cheering crowds, crowds that cheered even though they had little interest in Turkmeny, Niyazov, or his great crusade against Angola. Rolling with the column were 50 T-60 tanks, 30 T-44 tanks, 75 Ba-64 armored cars, and 20 ISU-152 self-propelled guns.

The force began loading onto heavy trains in the Lusaka station, to begin the journey to the Zambian border and to begin the grand crusade for Niyazov's honor. The white forces were moving off towards the area around the drescon base, it was being secretly surrounded by 50,000 black marxists. The blacks with the WKA were mostly carrying the heavy equipment that the whites didn't want to be burdened with. The whites were staying light, moving swiftly and quietly through the jungles. The plan was to ambush the marxist guerillas and kill them all.

The 35,000 troops and supporting equipment were arriving by train in Zambezi. Despite Reventlov's orders from Niyazov commanding secrecy, Reventlov stages open demonstrations in clear view of the border, hoping to strike fear in the hearts of the defending people. Surely they will now see that the wrath of Niyazov and God himself will come down upon them.

A high-speed railroad system had enveloped the entire coast and a number of cities inside the country. A fishing fleet was getting underway as a university began hiring professors and a grand skyscraper opned for business, towering above the four- and five-story buildings. Farms were tended furiously, mines were mined, and casinos opened for business in all of the major cities. However, in just northeast of the capital city, a mass grave with a monument placed over it gave chilling testament to the horrors that had come before.

An SR-71 at the Zambazi river notices the soldiers crossing and radios back to the nearest base. UH-60 Black Hawks with marines are ordered into the area. The bridge is wired with explosives and M102 Howitzers are set up on the other side of the bridge. AH-64 Apaches laid down, ready to take off the moment troops were sighted.

Reventlov neglected to send forward scouts or skirmishers, believing the army will go unopposed as far as Luenda. The armored cars are deployed at the front of the column, with the tanks taking up either flank. He orders the troops forward at double march.
Seryown

As soon as the Turkmeny troops came into sight close to the bridge, the three M102 howitzers opened fire at their maximum speed, roughly ten rounds per minute each. They would be able to sustain that rate of fire for only a few minutes, however. Three AH-64 Apaches took off, for the time being only providing surveilance.
Turkmeny
09-08-2004, 02:46
The Howitzers tore through the armored cars and scattered the first few lines of the column. The troops scrambled for cover as a steady rain of Howitzer shells tore through them, and some started to retreat.

The Turkmen tanks swept around, one group providing suppressing fire at the Howitzers, the other group looking for another bridge, ford, or crossing up the river.

Tank rounds blew through one of the howitzers. Marines had not yet come out of their cover, so they were unharmed. Switching tactics, the remaining two howitzers fired a few white phosphorous shells, creating a smokescreen. Because of the Black Hawks in the air, Serya troops still had a basic idea about the location of Turkmenian troops, and they rushed out of their cover and began firing through the smoke at the infantry and armored cars. A thousand of them ran forward and kneeled down on the ground, firing their M16A2 rifles at 45 rounds a minute for an average firing rate of 45000 rounds per minute, although their accuracy was certainly hampered by the smoke screen they were firing through.

OOC: Will do

----------------

IC: The Turkmen troops were in chaos, increased by the smokescreen. They ran around wildly, shooting in the air, at the enemy, at the trees, at the helicopters, at anything they saw.

Both groups of tanks came back down towards the road and came at the Seryown troops from either flank, not stopping to aim but shooting wildly with machine guns and running men over. The artillery in the back has recovered from the surprise and is laying down blanket fire over the other side of the bridge.

In the initial fighting, all the armored cars were destroyed. The tanks and artillery have remained untouched. There are 5,000 casualties, of which 2,500 are dead and the rest wounded, missing, or otherwise out of action.

The UH-60 helicopters in the air finally focused their fire, turning toward the crews of the artillery with 2 7.62 milimeter and 2 50 caliber machine guns each. Marines with M136 AT4 anti-tank weapons began to fire on the tanks that came toward them from the sides. The marines that didn't have them threw their fragmentation grenades across the river at the soldiers, each one capable of killing those Turkmenians within 15 meters(47.5 feet) of where it exploded, although there were fewer of them left to throw them they still threw quite a few. The howitzers continued to fire their white phosphorus shells, creating an effective smokescreen to keep the opposing infantry and artillery from seeing the location of the marines that were firing on them.
Overall, the wild firing of the Turkmenians killed only one gunman on the three helicopters, as well as three hundred sixty-eight marines.

09-08-2004, 04:35
The artillery was completely put out of action, the surviving crew fleeing back down the road. The anti-tank shooting was particularly effective at such close range, with the tanks hitting each other in the smokescreen. The infantry was able to pick the tanks off with ease.

The main infantry force began to retreat, having suffered a grand total of 7,500 casualties, all artillery and armored cars lost, and half of the tanks put out of action.

155mm and 120mm mortar shells began to rain down from all directions at the Derscon base, the intense barrage continued for about 20 minutes, and then everything was quiet. The marxists guerillas were strewn around their howitzers as the White Knights of Angola moved out from the bushes and the undergrowth. They radioed the Derscon base and said, "The WKA saves the day!" Before they faded back into the jungle.

The remaining helicopter(for the other had been shot down) fired a few last bursts of machine gun fire at the infantry and then turned its attention to the remaining tanks. Although their machine guns would do little to the armor of the tanks, their combined fire with the Serya M16s would provide quite a racket on the inside, and they could already tell that they were being destroyed. Meanwhile, anti-tank fire slowed down but continued to aim for them. The armor could choose to surrender or they could choose to die.

The last two howitzers had been destroyed, and a total of somewhere over 500 Marines had been killed.

Perhaps we should discuss a reason I shouldn't march into Turkmeny and take it over?

"Holy shit!" the sergeant at the command post said. The BOOMs of the artillery striking was deafening. The base commander looked out the plexiglass window to see the Dersconi AAA guns shoooting down a lot of the artillery. Since all thr buildings were concrete, the artillery shells did not do anything to them, but roaming jeeps were destroyed. Thankfully, all the tanks and fuel depots were underground.

"Well, this attack was poi--" he was cut off by the power going out. "Goddamnit! They hit the solar panels!" The power went back on, and he thanked God for the nuclear power plant backup.

OOC: You can't really march into Turkmeny. Remember I flew my troops down to Zambia? Anyway, Turkmeny is not actually a sovereign nation yet, I am fighting a war for independence against the Ottoman Empire in the Ottoman-Soviet War thread.

---------------

IC: The surviving Turkmen troops retreated back into Zambia and hurredly down the road back towards Zambezi. The tanks, completely cut off, surrendered. There were only 30 tanks left intact. 15 artillery pieces were abandoned among the wreckage of the Turmen army, with close to 8,000 dead. The 27,000 survivors and General Reventlov had been recalled to Luanda, where they would be flown back to Turkmeny to fight the Ottomans. The problem was getting the army to Luanda before it was destroyed by Seryown.

OOC: If you want to chase my troops into Zambia, then the rest of my action in this RP will be trying to escape, and you trying to destroy me. If you don't want to do this, then we will assume my forces bottles out and are now in the trenches of central Kazakhstan.

The WKA killed the black marxist guerillas that were shelling the derscon base. They stopped the marxists from attacking the Derscon base. There were 50,000 black guerillas surrounding the base and about 4,000 WKA (1,000 whites and 2,000 black auxiliaries) chased them away by using massive amounts of firepower and deadly accuracy. The guerillas probably lost 8,000+ men and they were all driven back into the depths of the jungle to lick their wounds.

"How did they not find out about the tunnel?" Captain Nicolle asked.

"Oh, they know about it," General Aribus responded. "We told them it was a power and water tunnel. Which is true -- that is also what we transport through the tunnel. But there is a cavity in the center for troop and vehicle transport." General Aribus left out the fact that the idea was taken from the National Military Bunker Complex.
