As of midnight tonight, The Armed Republic of Baltic Island is becoming The Protected Commonwealth of Baltic Island. The Armed Republic realizes that the best chance for it's survival in the South Haven Ocean (south of the continental Haven mainland and strait) is to become a protected state under the control and jurisdiction of The Island States. By choosing to associate with The Island States, our independance from any foreign power can be guaranteed with immediate action by The Island States and the United Socialist Republics.

Preliminary Declaration of Commonwealth Status
We, the Government and People of Baltic Island, hand over the following to The Island States Government and People:
1. Control of our armed forces and military facilities.
2. The ability to dissolve our government immediately and establish the Office of 'The Governor of Baltic Island', a position that is elected by the people of Baltic Island, but can be removed by the President of The Island States as long as new elections be held immediately.
3. All diplomatic ties our country has with other nations and control of our embassies and ambassadorial staff.
4. Control of our territorial waters.
The People of Baltic Island reserves the right to dissolve the Commonwealth and reacquire our sovereignty at any time, without the permission of The Island States, as long as all property and personnel from The Island States can be returned without delay.
