New Smithtown - Bondari News Service- President Treize Palmer of the Bondari Republic announced today in his daily address to the people that the latest resolution calling to make voting compulsory for all citizens was ratified by the Bondari Congress 47-13.
President Palmer said of the resolution in his address "[since taking power] Our government has strived to increase the democratic freedoms of our citizens. We have taken on this measure as a means to protect every citizen's right to vote and to ensure that the government remains a true representation of all citizens." President Palmer also stated that in addition to the Compulsory Voting, the resolution calls for the establishment of Governmental Voting Records for every citizen to ensure a "fair and universal application" of the new voting requirements."
Anastasia Clarke, head of Internal State Security (ISS), added in a press conference after the President's address that the ISS will be in charge of the voting records and enforcement of the new voting laws. Clarke also stated that "Those Citizens found in violation of the new voting laws and those who fail to provide an accurate voting record when prompted to do so by an ISS officer will be subject to Citizenship Revocation."
Clarke ended the press conference by praising the ISS team that conducted a raid this morning of the headquarters of a radical separatist group. 15 citizens were arrested in the raid, and since then they have been revoked of their citizenship and deported to the Civic Reassessment Center in the south of Bondari.
