"Today, the residents of Southland City awoke to a strange sight. Twelve miles off the coast, the tall, peaked Tromp's Island is producing smoke. This is the most recent activity of a volcano deemed to be dormant. The volcano was last reported to have made smoke back in 1578 but did not erupt.
