This is the Evening edition of NJBC News. Our top story...
The New Jersey Department of State has offered Dover to join in a union with New Jersey. Delaware and New Jersey would engage in free trade and tourism; Delaware would enjoy budgeting from Trenton, and would not have to pay New Jersey taxes. Delaware would have two representatives in Congress, though they would not vote. Delaware residents would not vote for President.
Secretary of State Montague cited the reason for the offer; "Delaware has a rather--stunted economy, and has a reuslt, has limited funds for education, healthcare, and other vital services. This is due to, of course, not unwise desicions, but their limited space. There proximity to a larger economic state such as us make the situation worse. So, in uniting us and Delaware, we are helping both our citizens, and taking a step ffoward in uniting the region."
Trenton expects a response soon.
