Announcer: "This is a GBN special report."

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, I'm your host, Cori Smith."

"In recent weeks, the Commonwealth has sent a delegation to the former British dependency of Gibraltar. Their goal was to forge a social-economic-political union between the two states. Today, the party has announced a joint agreement. With the dissolution of central authority in Gibraltar and the lack of British support (Meaning whoever claims Britain hasn't claimed Gibraltar), the Parliament there today accepted an offer by the Commonwealth to integrate."

"As such, the elected infrastructure will remain in place, with only the addition of a Governor being elected by the people 3 weeks from now. The police and security forces currently stationed in Gibraltar are to be keep at stations until further notice. A Foreign Ministry official today commented that citizens of "The Rock" will most likely notice few changes. Gibraltar has been admitted as an overseas province of Granzi, and will therefore send 2 Parliamentary representatives to the capital. A reaction force of Granzian troops, estimated to be less than a thousand, are expected to take possesion of the military infrastructure on the peninsula until regulars can be brought in."

"Though for the most part, the residents have welcomed the union, there have been protests taking place around the territory. The largest contained a group of around 2,000 individuals, though organizers estimate more in the 5,000 range. The events have been peaceful, and officials have indicated that the people will be continued to be allowed to rally."

"We will bring you more as this story unfolds."

Announcer: "This has been a GBN special report. For over 40 years, bring you the world's headlines."

Am I the only Earth II who thinks this should be ignored and this person beaten with a stick and kicked out of Earth II?

Expect resistance. As an ex-pat Gibraltarian, let me assure you that there was a reason the last anti-British referendum was defeated by 98.9% to 1.1%. There may only be 30,000 people, but they will be a phenomenal drain on your resources...

btw, it's the "Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation" (GBC)

OOC: I'm expecting resistance. If you have several protests with the largest having 2,000 individuals, that's a large percentage of 30,000. Would anyone laike to play the resistance, or some foreign nation?

GBN stands for Granzian Broadcasting Network.

Crowd control is key. After all, 2,000 is a lot but people get scared when they see AH-64 Apaches flying at them. Remember Machiavelli's words in that force is necessary to establish order and peace, even brutality, but once such is established, force and brutality should wane. That is the key!

True Layarteb, but Gibraltar has one of the world's best developed and most efficient smuggling networks, and has for some 300 years. No doubt there'd be some exceptionally nasty incidents as po-independence forces refuse to accept the occupation. It's not all that hard to smuggle an RPG in, and it'd be an absolute bastard to track down the firer through the rabbit warren that is Gibraltar...
