After military consideration of the recent war, Belem Brass have concluded certain fields of the military need a few upgrades to combat systems to operate at peak efficiency.

Upgrades to all Armored Vechiles: The inclusion of 2 sheets of lead in the interior and armor of all vechiles in order to protect them against the effects of a nearby neutron bomb attack. The lead shielding will absorb and reflect the gamma radiation of the attack.

Upgrades to Crusader I and II tanks: The Crusader series of tanks will all recieve refits of there main cannons the standard cannons 125 and 150 respectively will be replaced by ETC cannons of 125mm(strenght of a 155 since its ETC) and 150(strenght of 180). The tanks will also receive the Belem version of SHORTA to allow them to jam incoming ATGMs of both Radar and Laser variety.

Upgrades to Lancer Medium tanks: The Lancer will recieve SHORTA as the other tanks have. Its Railgun will also be replaced with a gauss gun(firepower is eqv. to a 120) allowing the lancer to fire High Explosive rounds at nearly the same velocity of that of a railgun greatly increasing its firepower.

---------------------

Starlight tactical laser system- The starlight tactical laser system is a scaled down version of the Belem Hotshot CIWS system installed into the body of an APC. Since the power output is drastically lower the weapon is not effective against destroying missiles but its true purpose is to be used as a front line support unit. Using its broadbeam laser the Starlight TLS objective is to blind advancing enemy troops and tank gunners looking through there optical sights. The Starlights chemical fuel tanks hold approx. 300 seconds of charge for firing. To accomplish this the troop area has been replaced with the chemical storage tanks and the APC has been stripped of all weapons except for machine guns.

OOC: more coming soon.

Lead shielding isn't going to help that much (you'd need alot of it to completely shield against radiation, especially gamma radiation). Steel alloys will absorb the radiation and hold it, meaning the tank crew can't effectively leave the tank unless getting exposed to at least 600rads of radiations (lethal in most cases). Depleted uranium will enhance radiation effects (as it undergoes fast fission with the addition of neutron and gamma radiation.

There are simpler ways to shield yourself from gamma and neutron radiation than a large layer of lead.

ooc: heard all you need is a quarter inch of lead to repel gamma rays. But ill check up on that.

Lead doesn't repel Gamma, it absorbs it. Also, lead is poisonous, so you can't just coat the outside and/or interior with it.

OOC: hmmm guess ill fix that then.

Belem, it is good to see that your still active, i was begining to wonder if anyone i knew besides the cursed Resi.....did i say that aloud?

Anyway's, good to see ya again old friend.

Boronated Plastics will repel gamma and neutron radiation. Carbon structures found in most types of fuel will absorb radiation. Although you can't shield it 100%, boronated plastics and fuel can absorb and deflect a large portion of gamma radiation. It won't help much if you're a hundred yards or less away from where the radiation will be heaviest, but anywhere past that there's a good chance that your crew or some of them will survive.

The only reason I told you is because we've now added boronated plastics to our armor as well the carbon structures.

Depending on the tech level of your nation, and the size of the tanks, you could use a powerful electromagnetic field to protect from radiation. Unfortunately, this would probably interfere with railguns, gauss guns, and plasma weapons.

OOC: Wazzuuuup Belem. Remember me? I'm so special.
IC: I'd suggest, at your age, working towards plasma weapons. If you use the launch method in the chemical cannons on the ST-11(hope you don't mind me using the idea, Bloc) you can create said plasma. If you put an electromagnet in a large bullet surrouding a core of the metal, with a timed connection in the circuit, you can have the slug launch, the circuit complete, pulsing the metal with the electromagnet, and creating a magnetic bubble around the plasma, prolonging it until it reaches the target. It would work, but at this point, it's all theoretical.

OOC: I was thinking about using plasma for some of the experimental guns but I was checking on a few sites and they said plasma was basically unfeasible because it loses alot of its power quicky and is hard to contain.
