456-903 Recon Assignment 1

Summary:
The ghost unit, designated Whiskey, was inserted into Five Civilized Nations (FCN) for a recon assignment, after a phone call hinted at dictatorship threatening. Ghost Unit One (GUO) was deployed to observe, intercept, and decrypt messages to and from the FCN State Department Building. GUO consisted of 6 members, *CLASSIFIED*. They were equipped with intercepting and decrypting materials. Credentials included work for the BAC. After 13 days in FCN, GUO decrypted a message containing references to Barbarosea. They were extracted and information was analyzed. It was determined to be a neutral comment, but the Barbarosea High Council felt that the matter required further inspection. They cleared a 2nd assignment to GUO, which will commence shortly.

Derek stopped. So did the rest of them. Signal, flank left was what the noiseless hand movements meant Robert and B group moved swiftly and gently, not breaking a twig, not stirring a leaf. They were just about 5km away from the post zone. As they moved, keeping close watch with the heartbeat monitor. Careful not to trip any EWS, they moved with not speed, but vigilance. About an hour later they arrived. The setting was just over 1km away from the Defense Building of Five Civilized Nations. Louis set up the “Tree Reciver”, while Adam set up Whiskey’s own EWS network. Miguel started lookout and recorded the patrol movements.
“Ok, Jack, you help Miguel, Robert and I will start the download of the messages so Louis can start cracking them.” Derek whispered. Without a word, the team went to work.

05:00AM--Local Time

It was another uneventful day in the Five Civilized Nations. Everything was normal within the Ministry of Foreign and State Affairs or the MFSA, which shared a sprawling government complex with the other government ministries. Named the Citadel, it was large enough to house the entire federal government, due to its massive underground complexes in addition to its sprawling aboveground buildings. As normal, work began at five in the morning, as the staff of the ministry filed into the building. Having just returned from a trip overseas to visit the subservient government of the nation of House Ecaz, Foreign Minister Zhong Da was in a great mood, for having return home and for finally signing a treaty that would keep House Ecaz subservient for many more years to come.

As he quietly sat at his desk, Zhong Da swiftly read over the details of the complex relationship between the nation of Barbarosea and the Five Civilized Nations, perturbed by something unexplainable that seemed to bore into his thoughts but was yet unidentifiable. With a shake of his head, Zhong Da turned his attention to a complex trade agreement that was currently being negotiated in the Barbarosean capital. As his eyes ate in the details of the agreement, Zhong Da felt that he had finally found the source of his worries. It seemed to the lead negotiator, Paul Greer, a career diplomat within the MFSA felt that the Barbarosea were trying to swindle the Five Civilized Nations and trying to extract too many concessions for too few gains. As his eyes read through the report, Zhong Da shook his head, sighing to himself.

Wheeling his chair to his personal computer, Zhong Da quickly penned a message to be sent to the negotiator to pinpoint the reasons for Barbarosea's actions.

The message underwent its standard encryption before it was sent out at 5:45AM Local Time via microwave satellite, one of many messages to leave the Citadel...

As the members slowly returned to the post, Derek applied the final touches to his ghillie suit. Robert was taking his rest, they had the laptop set up. He then returned to laying there, watching the target. The weather was overcast, and he smelled rain. He kept scanning the perimator, any movement would draw his attention. The job of a Ghost wasn't very easy, although, Derek knew that it would be much harder as a Rainbow, Cell, or even a feared Jagg. He kept looking out, bushes, trees, undergroth, anything that seemed unnatural drew his attention. His senses were strained to max, any disturbance would cause him to flinch. Suddenly, he heard a beep. After he jumped, he started to search for the origin of the sound. Thankfully, he saw it was just the laptop, it had intercepted a message of importance. The programm they were running, devoleped by a Jagg, would intercept all messages that it found, and then it would de-scramble the message, and search for the keywords set by the users. It had scanned and found 78 messages it deemed important. The computer, a ION processer, was still reciving messages, and sending them to the BAC super-computer, which would then send them back, deciphered. Derek checked his watch, 0930, time for Robert to wake up. As soon as his watch hit 0931, Robert awork, and rolled over to start the analsys. There were 75 messages that were already decrypted, and 3 that could not be decrypeted. He read the paraphrases, and within 10 minutes had eliminated 30 messages. Some he had to expand, and read the whole thing, but none really struck his eye. At 1000, he had read through, and dismissed 65. He had marked 5 for further inspection, and was reading the final 20 that awaited him. (Since 0900, the system had picked up more messages). Finally, he was done. He had found 3 messages that he would have Derek look at. 4 hand movements later, and Derek was peering at the Plasmum screen. 1 message Derek was wondering about. But suddenly, the EWS went off...
