SSNN (Sinoese State News Network) Technology Update:

After two years of study, newer, faster and more manouverable cruise missile has its designation announced. The NF-7A (Nan Feng = South Wind), will be the first solid-fuelled cruise missile to serve the ARSCF. It has been rumoured that the NF-7A is capable of speeds of up to Mach 3 although that would not be suited for ground-hugging flight. The range is believed to be around 1000km.

The NF-7A is believed to be ground based variant but later versions may include ALCMs and SLCM as well as stealth technology. Rumours also include exports to Sino's allies.

OOC: Feel free to post comments or questions.

"One hundred and three, sir" Lt. Chen replied to Lt. Choi.

"Enough work for six months. The General will be proud. But more is needed."

Already, 103 had been assembled and readied for warfare in the near future.

Intel report sent to ARSB Intelligence Directorate, it reads-

"Sino has released a photo apparantly depicting Sinoese personnel inspecting a solid-fueled cruise missile. The only thing wrong here is the fact they're inspecting the motor block on a cargo truck, with the apparant 'commander' pointing at the air cleaner. Therefore, we, as intel analysts, must say that there is nothing to worry about. By the looks of their 'solid-fueled cruise missile', it won't go far and won't do much. Especially if its the air cleaner they're talking about.

Otherwise, the only other possibility is that the personnel supposed to be pointing this 'missile' out, had too much to drink and couldn't tell the difference between a cruise missile and an engine block. That possibility is highly doubtful."

Subj: New Sinoese Cruise Missile

Evidence has been uncovered of a new Sinoese solid-propellant cruise missile, designated by Sino as the NF-7A. Range is estimated at nearly 1000km, which may even be enough to theaten Bonstocknian assets in East Asia. Speed is estimated to be up to Mach 3. The missile is believed to be air and submarine deployable. Deployment is currently not known yet, but according to credible sources production has exceeded 100 units.

However, it it thought that the NF-7A is unsuitable for ground or sea skiming flights, making it thus vulnerable to Bonstocknian SA-2, SA-20, AEGIS, and PATRIOT batteries. However, it is known to possess low radar visibility, and is extremely maneuverable. Reccommended course of action: create and deploy a new, more able land and sea based surface to air missile, which can meet the planned NF-7A service date.

Do you have any plans to open this new type of missle up to the commercial market, rather than trading within your allies?

Solid rockets are the ones that tend to explode, right?

OOC: I can't find any better pictures. Besides, that facility manufactures other systems also.

Solid rockets are the ones that tend to explode, right?

OOC: Wrong. Solid fuel for rockets nad missiles is far more stable and efficient. It also allows the achievement of greater speed. The Chinese DF-15 MRBM is solid fuelled and can reach targettign speeds of Mach 6.0 immuned to most of the current ATBM systems.

OOC: A problem with this is that solid fuels tend to burn very fast and, once ignited, you can't turn it off. For the long-ranges that cruise missiles fly at, liquid-fueled engines are the better option. Though, a solid-fueled terminal stage could be an option.

At this point, unlikely. We have many enemies and we certainly do not agree with its proliferation into the wrong hands.

OOC: Sino, before I make an IC post (which I will), I want to make sure you know that solid-fuel rockets are a very, very bad idea... unless you were to point them...say, at RF, Taiwan, or Japann so I can run rampant over the Pacific.

Anyway, can I get an OOC tm explaining the science behind these and clarifying our relationship?

And with that, it's back to the shadows. Tired.

Hudecia's demand for Xiaguo to withdraw Sino's nucleur testing support. Xiaguo will hold firm on this issue.

OOC: From my understanding and that of _Taiwan, solid-fuelled cruise missiles are a damn good idea, just like solid-fuelled BMs.

OOC: You must not have read my last post then. The kind of role that a cruise missile fills is better suited by an engine that can sustain flight over time. Solid-fuelled ballistic missiles work because they have a very simple flight path (ballistic, duh) and have to reach very high speeds very quickly to maintain the trajectory - so that it doesn't matter that the fuel burns up fast and cannot be shut-off once ignited. A cruise missile has more in common with a UAV than a BM.
