IDF's navy acquired 20 Delta IVs and 20 Ben Franklin class SSBNs. They have been undergoing refits, and they are in good condition.

They are being converted into hidden SAM launchers. They will each be loaded with 224 of IDF's new SM-7 SAM. It has a 375 mile range. (it can be fired and oncoming planes from a further range). The missiles are very fast flying at hypersonic speeds. Active and Passive radar masts that can rise and lower are being added to test the new Aegis IV RADAR system consisting of SPY-5D air search radars and SPG-57G fire control radars. There are also some passive radars added. These radars will have 12 million watts of power emitted on maximum active mode (that is rarely used), but will be so low and hard to detect with a stealthy small RCS that they will appear to be buoys.

OOC: No nation knows about this, this is a secret program under great protection. This is just posted for reference in future conflicts.

Secret: 100 gallons of IG Virus is being shipped to Haifa. Along with enough cure to treat 5 million people should there be a problem.

Occ- 1 gallon can kill about 10-20 million people in 5 days, mostly through the zombies attacking people.

OOC: So these are really large missiles? Hypersonic speeds - 375 mile range.. so these must be huge right? The fuel requirements and such for a hypersonic missile of that stature..

Doujin, you fire scramjet (first successful scramjet flight was only a couple of years ago, and it wasn't VERY successful. The shell one is debatatable too) assisted shells out of impossibly large ECT (again, not available in capital ship calibers) guns that go further than these SAMS. I'm not saying I like these SAMs either... but it's a little ironic.

OOC: Erm.. these SAMs travel a good distance further than our munitions.. and our munitions are propelled by SCRAMJet rockets, along with being fired outside of a gun at a high rate of speed already. That makes two means of propulsion, whereas this is one - and a fair amount of the main part of the propulsion requires no fuel in the round.

375 miles is only about 603km... which I believe is exactly the same as your claim. If I'm wrong, I appologise

And yes, while the shells are initially accellerated by the impossibly large guns, these SAMs might very well be multiple stage SCRAMjet/rocket weapons. They would practically need to be, given that they are hypersonic. Your shells are about 8tons, by my calculations, and the SAM wouldn't need as large an armor peircing warhead or explosive filler. It's possible. Inelegant, but possible.

Your calculations are off then, the shells I do believe are 20 tons.

And intersting... I ran the numbers again, and came up, again, with 8100kg... You must either be using very dence materials or have a lengthened shell (my calculations don't include propellent). In any case... I don't see that the sams, which are considerably smaller and lighter than your shells, are any more objectionable, really...
