Setting up Franchises ($$$ 4 U!)

The Resi Corporation

The following is on a videotape/DVD bundle sent to the doorstep of every world leader likely to care in the least:

A man appears on screen wearing a sportcoat and a blue collared shirt under it. He appears to be in his mid-twenties, and is in excellent shape.
"Hello, esteemed world leader! I'm Lars Johnson of Resi Marketing, and do I ever have a deal for you! Are you a bit short on money at the moment? Is your job market stagnant, and you desperately need a way to re-value your national currency? Or do you just need enough money to defend your nation from terrorist foreign devils? If so, you've got a friend in the business, big business, that is."
The background changes to a giant Resi Corp logo, rotating soothingly. High tech, yet still pleasant, music begins to play.
"That's right, sir or madam, you will get a gigantic source of jobs AND a bundle of cash all in one package! Now, I'll be the first to admit that offers like this are usually too good to be true, but this one is different. All we need in return for setting your nation on the capitalist fast-track to a Frightening economy is a little land for either a factory, an outlet store, or an office complex. You pick out land that you don't want, pick your price, and sell it to us for cold, hard cash! Your people will work for us, and in return they'll get massive paychecks, which they can use in turn to pay taxes, buy taxable items, or just plain pay tax on. The cash flow for you is never-ending! Just think of the possibilities!"
Music changes, the camera changes angles to capture a different angle of the man's face
"Did I mention that such facilities in your nation will bring the hottest in technology closer to home than ever? Believe it or not, I'm over a hundred years old. That's right, I've lived over a century, and I still manage to maintain my appearance and conditions from my prime of life, all thanks to the marvelous appliances made by the Resi Corporation! This is just a taste of what Resi Corp has to offer your nation.
"So remember, you have nothing to lose just as long as you buy..."
Screen fades to following...

RESI Corp.

((OOC: If you want to sell us land for a franchise, just post here detailing how much land you have for sale, how much you want for it, any preferances as to its use, and the minimum wadge in your area in USD))

Marimaia has way too much spare land not doing anything around our currently-being-renovated capital city. We can therefore offer the Resi Corporation an initial area of thirty acres on the outskirts of Taishita, which can be used for manufacturing, administration or whichever use the Corporation has for it. As this is prime land for development, the cost to the Resi Corporation will be $10 million USD (negotiable). The land is near excellent transit links, and the local population is extremely loyal and hard-working. The minimum wage in Taishita on average is $7 an hour; we realise that this may seem a little steep, but do keep in mind the quality of the workforce; they are all exceptionally well-educated and dissent is a rare thing indeed.

Also keep in mind that the Marimaian government will be open at all times to listen to your concerns and suggestions. In addition, as you will be a 'new business' in Marimaian eyes, you will qualify for several advantageous tax breaks.

We look forward to your response.

To Kangtian Wei, Marimaia:
We'll give you six million for the land, which seems to be a fair enough deal (5 acres for $1 million) for land on the outskirts of a major city. Your workforce sounds ideal to be used in an office complex, and maybe a small mall or two to keep the teenagers in the area employed. Is this price and function of the land acceptable to you? If it is, consider the money wired.

Perfectly acceptable. The Marimaian government welcomes the Resi Corporation to our nation; if you require space for factories and the like in the future, feel free to ask and we shall see what we can do.

May we ask exactly what a franchise OF we are purchasing?

That is to say, what does Resi Corp. intend to do with the land it purchases? If your plans were to, say, start building nuclear weapons at your "franchise" locations, obviously we would change what/if at all land we sell. On the other hand, if you're trying to outsource tech support, or warehouse gold ingots, things get quite a bit easier.

To Don Long, Simianonia:
4.5 acres of unbuilt land contigious on the inside of one of your major cities? If the land is contigious, then it may well be worth the four million dollars you request for it. If it's not, then you may have to settle for a bit less.

To Esteemed Potentate of Skepticism:
You are purchasing nothing, you are selling your land to us.
That aside, you may request how the land be used. We assure you, we already have found adequite (sp?) land on Resian-owned soil for such things as nuclear dumps and development of hazardous products (D.U. Tank shells, etc.), suffice to say that we will be outsourcing nothing that will harm your nation. The last thing we want is horrible PR for poisoning a nation's water supply, or some such. I'm sure you understand.

OOC: Resi, do the time warp again! :D

IC: We have a fair amount of land. How much do you need, because we may have to rezone the land to appropriate suit your franchise. Manufacturing? Commerce? Other?

Tarenteor mutters to himself and taps a few buttons on his personal monitoring screen, basically a glorified videophone, and as soon as the ring tone stops, "Don't send me spam mail! I thought we were friends!". "Wong China House of Food. Can I take your orda?"

To the Esteemed Potentate of Adejaani:
It is not how much we need, it is how much you are willing to sell, and of what type. You call the shots, we shell out the cash. The fact of the matter is, we're probably going to by everything you want to offer us, and there's only a very slim chance that we wouldn't want it.
So go on, make an offer we can't refuse.

To The Resi Corporation: Try us. We have an entire planet at our disposal... Though traffic to and from there is a bit restricted. However, if you want the Adejaani mainland... There is about twenty square kilometers of undeveloped land in the south-eastern sector of the mainland.

To the Esteemed Potentate of Adejaani:
Are you saying you're willing to sell a planet? If so, what are its statistics, and what is your asking price?
Or, if you were just using that as an example, we'd rather have that twenty square kilometers you were talking about. We'll give you a tidy $3 million for that land, if that's alright.

To The Resi Corporation: The mainland deal is acceptable. If you were considering buying land on the planet... Magnia is roughly earthlike, though because it is closer to its home star, tends to be warmer and more desert-like, though the importation of water-generating plants and small scale ecology change is making this world slightly more temperate.

For the appropriate sum, roughly five million square kilometers of landmass on Magnia can be sold to you, though of course any personnel and equipment, businesses etc will be subject to local laws and a respect for the ecology etc, though this shouldn't be a big hinderance.
