The Emperor Steps onto the podium. HE is about 5 foot 11 inches tall, clean shaven and has a mederatly deep voice. He is wearing his usual Red and Yellow Imperial Robes. "People of the EMpire, I am pleased to announce that the Nation of Botswana is going to soon be part of the Empire! Already, everything within 100 miles of the Capital Gaborone has surendered to our Forces, and our troops Bravely fight for the rest of the Nation!"

The Empire has deployed:

20 RAgnarok 8 class AirFrigates
5 Highwind Class AirTranports
1 Alexandria Class AirBattleship.

Also, 300,000 Soldiers of the Imperial Shock Corp have gone in with the AirFleet. The Country has little or No military, and we expect the country to fall shortly.(the country has less than 2 million people)

Official Statement by the Emperor

I am pleased to imform the International Community that the country of Botswana will soon belong entirely to the Lightning Star. All the Land south of the City of Maun is under Imperial COntrol, and the only Expected resistance willbe from approximatly 70,000 REbels stationed in the city of Kasane on the Border with Zimbabwe. These forces will soon be dealt with by the Imperial AirFleet.

Hey hey hey people, dont worry! All the nations ive conquered were relatively poor and now they are at LEAST twice as rich! PLUS they're imperial Citizens! My people jsut came out of a war for the Independence of Germania Superior(as Weyr knows) so we decided to do some more helping, jsut this tiem without loosing 13,000 men!

Its economy would probably rate at about Reasonable in NS- about the same scale as Poland, South Africa, Mexico, Russia... if your reason for attacking is that they're poor, heck, Lusaka's several hundred percent poorer, why not try for us? Just keep going north, stop when ten million infantrymen skin you alive and make rafts out of your hides and sail to your homeland, and, well, I won't bore you with the details...

OOC: Lusaka is right though. Botswana is one of the richest nations in Africa. It actually, to my knowledge, has a higher GDP per capita now then South Africa, Russia, Romania, Thailand, and Yugoslavia. While not a first world country it certainly is richer than many.

OOC: I realized that Botswana is actually quite rich. Our I.N.A said it was poor because they want the people to support it. Its called Propaganda.

My people support the war anyhoo. We are a naturally War-like people. And only good has come to teh nations we've *ahem* liberated(our nice term for assimilated). Except for Pakistan because it was targeted for a terrorist attack but thats an exception. Besides, on the EArth II thing and on this post the Internation community aggrees with our invasion. We havent damaged their infrastructure. Our OCuntry has a Thriving Economy and that can only help the People of Botswana (the nation witht eh Highest HIV/AIDS rate in the wrold.

OOC: In hindsight though I think you should have 'assimilated' their country by less militaristic means. Have them peacefully join your nation. Have them have a referenda on whether they should join your country that way you wont have people pointing the finger at you and their would be less of an uproar.

Special News Update

Today there has been something that hasnt happend in teh hundred years since our Nations independence from the Tyrannical Dictators of Washibar. There have been riots. At first the Army was doing its job correctly, not attacking the rioters but confining them to a certain area. After a few of the Rioters attack the Army soldiers and then the entire crowd started shooting the Army with home-made weapons, the Army was forced to fightback. A fierce fight ensued, and tanks were brought in. After 7 hours of fighting, it was over. Over 150 Of our brave servicemen died fighting the crowd of around 5,000 Rebellious Insergents. over 4,500 of the Rebels died. They were mostly believed to be from teh Rebelllious Provicne of East Washibar, but a few were proven to be from the New Sirius Area nd other areas struck hard by our recent (and second) war with Washibar.

We did ask their government to joi us, and if you read in teh first post the area close to the Government did. As news of the SUrrendering reached the people in the NAtion, they either Went north to Fight us or accept our rule. (the latter was alot more widespread.)

The Imperial Triumviate of Tyrandis refuses to recognize this blatant empire-building and violation of national sovereignty. We denounce these aggressive actions, as we have in our long history.

As this war appears to be little more than a pitiful land grab, we have imposed sanctions upon The Lightning Star. Access to Tyrandisan waters has been barred to all TLS shipping, and all TLS bank accounts held in Tyrandis have been frozen.

However, we will not oppose the invasion beyond this.

Im havign a hard enough time as it is to make it so that the Congress is listened to WITHOUT having teh Emperor say its ok. Teh People find it hard to accept that Congress has more power than the EMperor.

Just implement it and when the people see that it is the Congress that has the power and not the Emperor then you should be fine. The Lightning Star sent in a large military Precence because the LAST time we underestimated our enemy, we lost over 30,000 soldiers. Plus, there are many Anti-TLS organisations out there (mainly the Christians MArtyrs Brigade) that may use this occasion to launch attacks on us.

The Lightning Star News Agency "We're not Imperial Anymore!

After 2 weeks of siege, the Rebel city of Kasane has surrendered. Only 200 rebels and 14 Imperial Servicemen died during this war. Already in the southern areas the economy has improved, causing a rush of immigrants. The People of Botswana are also partaking in the first ever Elections in the Lightning Star, which also includes regional Governers. The People of Botswana are now officially part of the Empire.
