Axis Nova

A news channel shows hundreds of nuclear explosions, and a map showing where they are.
"The Axis Nova government has announced it's intention to PERMANENTLY secure itself from any possible land invasion. As such, a 500 square kilometer radius around our border mountains is being salted with cobalt isotopes, rendering it deadly to living things for millions of years. This act will prevent us from ever being invaded by land."
The view cuts to a reporter.
"Though environmental groups are protesting furiously, it is not expected there will be any serious reprecussions from this act. The government has announced that the only people living in the affected areas are terrorists, anarchists, bandits and other such scum. The Ministry of War has smugly pointed out that anti-nuclear agitators are getting their wish-- Axis Nova is completely ridding itself of all their nuclear weapons in order to produce such a largely irradiated area."
The screen cuts back to a view of exploding nuclear weapons, with big splotches showing the areas affected by the highly radioactive fallout. Over the next several hours, the splotches slowly grow, though even the two largest won't be touching each other for several days.
Axis Nova
(OOC: In case it wasn't obvious before, this means the only possible way in and out of Axis Nova now is by air...)
