FSS Cole - Achilles-class Attack Cruiser - Captain Morrison commanding
The Slipstream - somewhere between Keyes VI and Tarsonis II
Operational Orders: Make contact with Keyes scientist [classified] and bring aboard weapon [classified]. Return weapon [classified] to Tarsonis II. Be on lookout for Shivan raiders.

Technology is always a two-edged sword. Its value is often more than balanced by a dependence on rare or exotic materials that has the net effect of hampering the war effort...Perhaps of even greater concern is the paradox history dominant in the development of military technology. War and near war conditions provide the impetus for the rapid development of new technologies. A war situation is also the least desirable of conditions under which to test or introduce any radically new technology. It is the recognition of this, often mistaken for traditionalism, that has proven to be one of the Empire's strongest assets. In the early times the tactics were often slow to develop, creating wars that were fought with tactics made obsolete by technological innovations. The Empire has made a conscious decision to fight each war using the methods and tactics with which it is familiar. Only when a new development is so significant as to render the existing strategies useless, should a change be made.

Rules of Command

Technology

Captain Alex Morrison closed the data file holding Admiral Allison's Rules Of Command, the file that all Imperial Captains must learn. How ironic, he thought. It seems the great Admiral's advice has been abandoned since we entered this sector. I can't remember a decade when more weapons and ships were produced. And now this...thing. He was referring to the massive weapon in the Cole's cargo bay. He still couldn't believe that a planet such as Keyes VI - barely past the atomic age - could produce a weapon so powerful that the Empire would be willing to trade an experimental antimatter reactor for it. He had understood the basic report central command had given him about the so-called Yamato Cannon. He knew it used magnetic fields to focus a fission reaction into a cohesive beam of energy, but that was it. He switched his personal view screen to the outside cameras. There wasn't much to see in the slipstream, only dark green streaks of empty space.
"Helm, what's our ETA?"
The ensign made a couple of quick computations on his console before saying "Approximately thirty two hours to the Tarsonis system, sir."
"Any contacts?"
"We're reading several subspace distortions, most likely Shivan patrols. Nothing in realspace except a rogue moon..."
The Cole gave a massive lurch and alarms went off everywhere.
"What's happened?!" shouted Morrison.
"Core breach! Slipstream drive failing, BRACE FOR IMPACT!"
The Cole began spiraling out of control and reentered realspace as its slipstream drive shut down.
"Report!"
"Primary power is out, our shields are gone, weapons at 50%, slipstream drive destroyed...oh my god."
"What? What is it?" the ensign didn't respond to the captain's inquiries. "That's an order, ensign!"
"We're leaking. Attempting to lock it down..."
"We're leaking what?"
"The distortion shield, sir! She's sending out ripples through the planes as she's trying to come back online!"
"Are you saying..." Morrison gave a horrified look at the ensign.
"Yes, sir. We're visible on all planes of transversal...even subspace."
Morrison sunk back down into his chair as crewmen scrambled for their lives. Flames erupted from the tactical console. On the cracked view screen, he saw one of the Cole's nacelles float past, torn from its holding. They were like a flare in space for all to see.
"God help us all."

So if you intend to go about insulting peoples rp skills when i am trying to have them improve, Wait a dammed minute second thoughts just be quiet and don’t post in a thread unless you have something meaningful to say. Posting just to insult is a very n00bish thing to do from a self acclaimed expert rp'r. So FCN grow the hell up.

If they can be countered through non-godmodding technology, it is not a godmod on his part. All uber Shivan tech can be countered, but since they ARE playing the superhuge bad guys, it'll take everything we've got to take them on. The Lucifers can be destroyed, their supspace shields negotiated, and their nanites countered. Ultimately, I think 5CN is referring to the RPing quality of the Shivan nations, which varies greatly.

the DESC Echo was on deep space patrol with 2 Lifeless corvettes, the ships were still in hyperspace. Rear Admiral iris sat on the bridge of the echo, the reports of Shivans in the area were more like rumers she felt it was a waste of time, but the DESC Command didnt want to be stupid. nothing had happened in the last 24 hours and Iris was getting annoyed, then suddenly the Tac officer spoke.
"mam, theres a distortion in Hyperspace" she sead "mam theres a ship about 30 minutes away....mam its not hard to miss at all, if we dont get there soon Pirates or something might get it"
"do you have a reading on the ship?" Iris asked
"not sore i think its...." she sat there tapping into the Vertrual Deck, moveing though the data fast "mam i think its a Achilles attack cruiser, i cant tell tho to much interfeance"
"helm set corse" Iris replyed "why the hell did Command not tell us of any other ships in the sector"
"maby cos they didnt know" Jason sead, he was the 2nd in command, he was an Vampire one of only 3 in the entire crew.
"bloody intel never get thing right" Iris replyed "whats our ETA" she asked
"about 25 minutes" the helm replyed

the Echo and her escorts moved though hyperspace, Iris was worried what ever that ship was doing here must have been secret. but the fact that the ship was basicly light up like a xmas tree was what worried her. there was no way that shivans wouldnt notice it, but would they attack it or not that was what the question that keept running though her head.

Central Chambers of the Shivan Command

Each war chief of the Shivan clans had now gathered for the weekly meeting on the war. So far nothing critical had been decided when an alert status was declared. The Internal chambers glowed a dark red as the station went into defence mode, the sensor networks had picked up an enemy craft. It was obviously in distress and therefore the Shivans had to capitalise.

The clan leaders communicated to the bridge, though the Shivans have essentially a hive mind the clan chiefs are however separated from the rest of the general populace, their minds must be clear if the are to plan the war more successfully.

So far the sensor told the Shivans that there was an ESUS craft in distress within real space, so the order was given for ships to be dispatched to attempt to recover the enemy ship for technological analysis or destroy it.

The defence station therefore dispatched a small escort of war vessels consisting of one Sathanas juggernaut and an escort of fighters. The Shivans would discover the problem. The Shivan command however had not dispatched just any old Sathanas warship they had dispatched a ship that held the key to victory of the ESUS alliance.

The Feazanatian craft was now slowly beginning repairs, by now they had decreased their energy signature in a token attempt to hide from the enemy however the Shivans knew where they were, the Shivans had arrived.

In real space the tell tale gravimetric fluctuations began to form, and out of the blue shimmering portal emerged a new Sathanas Juggernaut with its weapons primed however the ESUS ship was being hailed. But by who or what………..

"dam it...arm HST phase torpedos" she looked round at her crew, most were young as a large bulk of the fleet was destroyed a few months ago when the Shivans attack Sol II and when certain rebals tryed to take over "all hands this is the captain, this is not a drill all hands to stations" she looked down again "im not going to lie to you people, we might not come home from this but if that ESUS ships is carrying something important that could tip this war more in our side we must protect it. the shivan ship detected is not in our records this is due to 1 of 2 things, its a new Shivan ship in witch case we dont know what the hell it has...or Command forgot to update or data base" she took in a breath "people we all knew when we signed up to the DESC that we would get into a fight, we all knew with this Shivan war not all of us will come home. i know your all scared you would be stupid not to be but if we can hold out for 20 minutes the 101st task force will reinforce us, for the people of Sol II lets take down the shivan ship out there"
across the ships cheers were heard, the whole crew was scared but they were not goin to show it.
"mam shall we enter normal space?" the Helm officer asked

"Shivan warship, unknown class, twelve thousand kilometers off the port bow! Bearing one-three-six mark three five!" screamed a tactical officer.
"Damnit," cursed Morrison. "What is the status of the MAC guns?"
"Offline. We've only got torpedoes and missile control, sir. Phase disruptors at 98% operational readiness. Sir, a CorpSac patrol has entered the system. ETA 20 minutes."
"In 20 minutes we'll all be dead. Fire aft starboard thruster, three second burn. Bring us to bear on that ship. Fire phase disruptors on my command."

The Cole turned like a wounded whale, the silver bolts of the phase disruptors charging.
"Fire!"
The rapid fire spheres of antimatter shot at the Sathanas juggernaut, followed by a volley of Skipper missiles.

The Shivan juggernaut descended out of subspace and emerged within range of the Feazanation ship, almost as soon as the Shivan vessel entered range the ESUS allied craft began to open fire. The alarms aboard the bridge were easily visible,a s the missiles came closer and closer the only order that was given was “Stop them and open a hailing frequency.”

The vast Gravity emitters of the new Shivan ship activated, this vessel was known as the Gargantuan. Dwarfing the Feazanation vessel by hundreds of times the fifty km long behemoth began to draw closer and closer to the now terrified enemy.

The huge gravitational ring generated merely stopped the enemy missiles in their tracks as they lacked sufficient energy to reach escape velocity. The Gargantuan still had yet to power up its weapons and the captain had now initial intention to do so. He was here to talk.

“This is Admiral Aken Bosch of the Shivan Imperium to the ESUS craft. I am here as an envoy to begin the discussion of a cease fire to this war. You will either send a representative to our vessel which dwarfs yours in size and fire power or be destroyed. You have two minutes to comply.”

Admiral Aken Bosch was the man who introduced the ESUS alliance to the Shivans. It was his madness that created a rift from subspace into this reality where a vast conflict was fought with Indra-prime and Kanuckistan. Admiral Bosch should be dead. The original conflict began over 200 years ago where he was an old a ageing man however what was left of Bosch was only his consciousness, the complexion of the Admirals face was a steel grey and he moved with a precision and regularity that no human was capable of. Bosch was not organic, it would be impossible, he should be dead.

As the timer on the clock grew less and less Bosch ordered for the Airlock to be readied. They had guests.

Morrison fell back in his seat.
"Prepare...a Delta."
A small, holographic figure appeared on the captain's chair arm.
"You're not actually thinking of going over there, are you?" inquired Wellsey, the Cole's AI.
"What choice do we have? One of those things could take on one of our dreadnoughts, it'd eat a cruiser like us for breakfast. Marines!" He had opened a COM to the marine quarters. "Assemble alpha squad, send them to the shuttle bay. Delta One is waiting. I'll join you shortly." He turned back to the AI's holographic image. It resembled an ancient British sea captain. "Wellsey, I need you to stay here and continue repairs on the ship. I want this ship ready to jump at a moment's notice."
"Yes, Captain. We'll need to reconfigure the grav emitters to lasso the nacelles, but..."
"You talk too much, Wellsey." The captain was already heading out of the command deck.

Three minutes later (after a wideband transmission explaining that there would be a delay was sent), a pair of Delta-class boarding craft departed from the Feazanthian cruiser. Each Delta carried two senior crewmembers and a team of ten marines in IMC-400 Hostile Environment suits. They flew at one-quarter impulse towards the juggernaut. They prepared for docking.

The coordinates for the Feazanatian craft were signalled, they were to head to a docking bay far away from any of the critical systems; incase sabotage was planned. The shuttles moved towards the docking bay at a reasonable speed, the Gargantuan sitting in space dominating the view.

As the shuttle came closer to the vast Shivan warship, it was subjected to all forms of scans the intense bombardment of the Gargantuan sensors would seem like a weapons build up though the Feazanthian crew would have more sense than to turn back now.

Coming closer to the ship instructions were signalled to the Feananthian shuttles that all weapons were to be left on board their ships, all environmental suits were to be left on board the ships as the atmosphere for the necessary corridors had been changed to suit the humans. The Shivans had even activated the gravity plating which was very unusual.

As the ESUS craft approached the docking bay door a final set of instructions were relayed. The personnel were to the docking hatch and walk straight forward until they met the Shivan envoy; Admiral Aken Bosch.

The humans would find the corridors completely deserted, there would be nothing except an eerie silence; the Gargantuan would seem more like a ghost ship than a vessel of war.

Wellsey detected the CorpSac vessel entering the system. He sent a rapidfire burst transmission to the ship still in hyperspace.

This is Wellsey, AI of the FSS COLE. The captain is currently engaging in negotiations with the Shivan Imperium for a cease fire. Do not attack either vessel. Repeat, do not attack either vessel. Ship is currently undergoing extensive repairs. Possible sabotage expected. Prepare for possibility of covering a retreat. Keep weapons hot.

-Wellsey 75392.54SAIDelta

The pair of Deltas docked with the Shivan vessel. The marines piled out of the rear hatch, assault rifles ready.
"Put those back. Sidearms only."
"Captain! If we get into a hostile situation..."
"Then even the best assault rifles in the Empire wont save us. We have no other choice. Stow your armor, as well. I'm sure the Shivans will respect an honor guard."
The captain and the three other officers strode to the 'doors' of the airlock, followed quite closely but the twenty marines.
"I, uh, guess we wait here..."
"It's quiet...TOO quiet. I don't like it, cap'n," said Corporal Zul'Tag.

The marines now very anxious and nervous walked aboard the Shivan vessel, the Corridor in front of them lighted up as they walked forward indicating where they had to go. As they were moving along the desolate corridor the humans would notice, small spider like machines running about the corridor repairing systems and doing general maintenance of the ships systems. It would appear that this ship was self-automated. However these small droids were never seen detected nor seen upon a Shivan craft before. Something was not right about this meeting.

The humans now walking for ten minutes reached the end of the corridor and entered a vast room; the Feazathian crew were now walking through a power junction the vast relays some of which were two hundred metres in size sparked and glowed within the darkness.

However no matter the splendours of the Shivan craft the humans kept walking, finally they reached their place and saw Admiral Bosch waiting for them through an open door. There was no table for them to sit at, no seats just an empty room which was poorly lighted. As the guests proceeded a force field suddenly came up only allowing the two officers to meet with Bosch. What was about to be said was not for the ears of mere infantrymen.

The captain didn't seem at all surprised by the energy field.
"Number one, you're with me. Lieutenant, keep the marines in check. Try...not to kill anything...yet."

Morrison and his first officer, a Teropta named Ry'ak, stepped into the room with Admiral Bosch.

"You'll forgive me if I don't salute, Admiral, but I do not salute traitors," said Ry'ak.
Morrsion spoke up. "You'll have to forgive my first officer, but we're all a bit...edgy...about being aboard an enemy vessel and staring into the face of a human that isn't torn limb-from-limb by the Shivans he commands."

Admiral Bosch stood in the far side of the room away from the two officers. “Well gentleman thank you for visiting me on such short notice though I doubt I gave you much of a choice. As you know the conflict between our two peoples has raged across this entire galaxy and shows no sign of calming down, I am here to calm down this war.” Bosch moved forward into the light and the Feazanthian crew would be shocked. Bosch was no longer human he was he was the Nanites. He was now pure machine.

“Gentleman, I am the new master of the Shivan Imperium, as we speak I am consuming subspace. The Shivans will either submit to my control or be destroyed. As of this moment all hostile actions against the ESUS alliance will cease as there has been far too much blood shed over the past months and years, It is time to rebuild our respective and shattered societies, however I can not have a cease fire if the other side remains aggressive. You will go back to your superiors and arrange a cease fire as we no longer have the thirst, well I no longer have the thirst for this war.”

As Bosch was talking to the two officers the room glowed a Bright red, Bosches facial expression changed as the Nanites moved position. “We are under attack. We will continue these discussions the enemy vessels are of no significant threat.”

TRANSMITION TO ESUS SHIPS

“Do not get involved or you too will be fired upon.”

Subspace tears began to form around the Gargantuan as five Sathanas warships descended from the blue voids. As they came out the Distortion field around the Gargantuan was being raised however the Sathanas warships opened fire upon the generators. In the meeting room the ship shuddered as the shields took the brunt of the forward beam cannons from the rebelling Shivan warships. An energy field was raised around the meeting room and the marines within the corridor to prevent any risk to their health, in case some Shivan atmosphere leaked out from the closed of sections.

As the Sathanas class warships opened fire upon the Gargantuan they began to tear holes into the hull of the vast warship. Targeting the power generators the Shivan vessels were slowly weakening the shields of the Nanite command vessel however the Gargantuans weapons were now just charging up. As the Shivan craft continued to open fire with their forward beam cannons the Defensive weapons of the Gargantuan were now coming into effect. Thousands of Micro missiles were launched at the rebels, each one impacting upon their target exploding with the tell tale force of the usual volatility of anti-matter. The Gargantuans beam turrets now fully charged fired in a concentrated pattern upon one of the juggernauts; tearing through the shields the warships tore apart the superstructure of the vessel. As the beam cannons were just finishing their firing sequence the Flux cannons opened up. The vast red beams slashing across the body of the unfortunate Sathanas juggernaut tore into the power junctions. Quickly and silently because of the vacuum of space the warship detonated and threw its wreckage across the system.

Within the vast explosion of energy and matter, asmall displacer aboard the Gargantuan activated. Sending a nanite into the digestive track of one of the officers. It would sit there until needed. With it being in a state of hibernation it would be virtually undetectable to any scans.

The explosion from the Sathanas warship rocked the Gargantuan, the Feazanthian crew would now be worried about what on Earth was happening however little would the suspect that it would be a Shivan civil war so to speak.

The remaining four Juggernauts began to retreat from the battle. The Shivan crews realising that they would be no match for the Gargantuan quickly made their retreat back into subspace, As the lights in the meeting room came back to normal the Nanite assembly that looked like Admiral Bosch began “Now where were we.”

Ry'ak had been swearing in his native tongue, and continued to do so. However, Morrison spoke.

"How do we know this is not a ploy to get the ESUS to drop its defenses? You have to understand, it's not easy for us to believe that you want a cease fire when your people have openly claimed to want to destroy all life in this galaxy."
Morrison did not know what the hell was going on, but he suspected it had something to do with the Shivan nanites that had devoured the GZ world. Had the Shivans lost control of them? If that was the case, then the ESUS could be facing an enemy far greater than orignally planned. What's more, Morrison doubted the new "secret weapon" that the government had been developing would be much use against these mechanical terrors. They had lost six ships already to this volatile new weapon.
"I'm sure my government, and the governments of the ESUS would be more than glad for a cease-fire. But, as I'm sure you understand, we are skeptical."

“It does not matter, trust is irrelevant, you will agree to this cease fire or the war shall continue. You are here merely to convey this message to your respective governments. You are not an ambassador, you a merely a pawn of your military command structure, where as I, I am now something more. I am the future. If you fail to agree to this cease fire then it shall be upon your own head. This meeting is now over, you have five minutes to reach your ships before we jump back into subspace. I suggest you start running.”

With those words the humm of the engines flooded the room, as the subspace drives began to generate the vast gravitational fields necessary for the jump. “Well what are you standing there for?” Bosch boomed.

“You now have four minutes fifty two seconds remaining.” As the Feazathian envoy left the room in some haste they were followed by an ominous laugh from Admiral Bosch who seemed to enjoy the speed at which the human envoy left.

With that, the pair of Delta boarding craft took off and headed back to the now-repaired Cole, which jumped as soon as the two boarding pods were docked.
