Sarzonia In Mourning

Sarzonia
28-07-2004, 07:16
Dave Forrest, a man who was at one time one heartbeat away from the Presidency of Sarzonia, died last night six hours after returning from Hamptonshire City. He was 77.

Forrest served as the first Senior Vice President for Internal Affairs in Sarzonia's history, running the day-to-day operations of many of the departments under the Gray House with a behind-the-scenes style.

"He wasn't one for the spotlight, but he always made sure to get the job done," President Mike Sarzo said in a statement issued on the back lawn of the Gray House. "He was absolutely beyond reproach in his dealings with people who worked for the government and was instrumental in the growth of Sarzonia."

"He will be sorely missed," Nicole Lewis, his successor as SVP-Internal said. "He was the template for the job."

Even his political opponents heaped praise upon him.

"He was a genuine man, very hard-working," Senator Alex Loonie said. "Even when I disagreed with him, I knew he had all his notes and he was going to be hell to debate against."

Sarzo announced that Wednesday would be declared a national day of mourning. The funeral is expected to take place Friday at the National Cemetery in Saugerties, just outside Woodstock.

The Commonwealth would also like to send a representative to attend the funeral of Senior Vice President Forrest. Due to the fact that Prime Minister Bolash will be unable to attend (Naval Conference), in his stead will be Deputy Minister Aron Field. We wish to raise the possibility of a memorial dedicated to Forrest's service being unveiled at the ceremony. If so, we will donate $100 million toward such a fund.

Best Wishes,

We share your sense of less of such a great man. The Grand Duchy recently suffered the assassination of one of its most admired leaders, Defense Minister Sir Walter Melville. You have our sympathies. Dave Forrest's first visit to Hamptonshire City was not under the best of circumstances, yet he reflected the relationship and friendship that is inherent between our two great nations.

After discussion with our national educational committee, we have decided to create and fund a $100 million, PHD student exchange scholarship program in the Mauiwowee University School of Government in the name of V.P. Forrest. We'd like the chair for this program to be headed up by your country's educator of choice. This scholarship will be exclusively for the purpose of bringing your PHD school of government candidates to Mauiwowee for a year of study and for paying the way for our PHD school of government candidates to spend a year in your country as well.

Sincerely,
His Royal Highness,
King 'Lude II

P.S. I would be honored if your ambassador, Ms. Levine, would agree to act as my escort during the funeral services.

We would be most pleased with the scholarship for PhD candidate students and an exchange of students between our countries. I have directed Senior Vice President for Internal Affairs Nicole Lewis to select the educator to direct the program and she has chosen Dr. Sandra Goudine for the post.

Dr. Goudine is one of the leading professors in our top university, Joe Gibbs University. She will be an outstanding fit for the administration of the fund from Sarzonia's perspective. She has also indicated that she would like to work with someone from your government to administer your end of the project as a co-chairman.

Ms. Levine has requested that she be allowed to serve as your escort prior to my receiving your request, so I am happy to oblige.
