The polls open in Canan.
Ladies and gentlemen, a man yelled into a megaphone, if I could just get your attention. The crowd, for the most part, settled down and began listening to the man. Ok, that’s better. Now we will open the polls in a few minutes, but first I need you all to listen to these instructions on what to do when you enter the building. First, you must go to the registrar’s table and register to vote. When you register you must have your license, a second proof of identification with your picture on it, and twenty credits. Then you will be escorted to an open poll and you will cast your vote. You may only vote for one candidate. Any ballots with more than one vote on it will be discounted. Once you have voted you will take your ballot to the table by the exit and give it to them. Do not fold your ballot, or it will be discounted. Are there any questions? The man looked around the crowd, and when he saw there was none, he finished, Ok, the polls should be opening any minute now so if you will please make two single file lines in front of the two doors here.
The crowd began shuffling around, trying to get a close to the front as they can. When the announcement that the polls had opened a great cheer rang out through the crowd, and the election process began.
Occ: I really stink at this rping elections stuff.
IC:John, you know I love you. But, I love Sarah even more. I need…
The screen cuts out to a lone news reporter sitting at his desk.
We have interrupted ‘Sexless in the City’ for this important update on the elections. He shuffles some papers around, and continues, It seems that Candidate Sarah Hartley is in the lead, with a commanding 67%, while Peter Maran sits in second place with 29%. Tracy Harris and other smaller names are way back combining to share only 4% of the vote. The polls will be closing in about two hours (rl) and the results are not expected to change enough to affect the outcome. We now go to Jennifer Harris who is downtown at a one of the many polls that have been set up throughout the country. Jennifer.
Screen cuts to a tall blonde woman, standing in front of the flag pole of a local school.
Thanks Tom. As you can see the polls have been open for almost four hours and the lines are still outrageously long. Experts are predicting that there will be a 92% turnout for this election, a number that supercedes all previous predictions. Now we were going through the lines, asking the people who they were going to vote for, but we were told by police and poll officials that any footage shot was not to be shown, so we can’t show any
of it. Also, we got to talk to Sarah Hartley after she exited the polls early this morning.
Screen cuts to a picture of Sarah Hartley speaking into a microphone, but no audio is heard.
Well it looks like we lost the audio on it, so back to you Tom.
The picture fades back to Tom Wellings. We will continue to give updates on the election every hour, but until then, have a good night.
Occ: short RP I know, but I figured it needs to be out there.
Ic: “Ladies and gentlemen, the votes have been counted and the new Premier of the United Socialist States of Canan is…” The reporters in the room stare in anticipation, anxiously waiting for the announcement to be made, “Ms. Sarah Hartley.”
Applause rings throughout the press room, and throughout the country thousands cheer in front of their televisions. As Premier Hartley walks towards the podium the reporters, along with everyone else stand and cheer for their newly elected Premier. “Thank you, thank you all,” Sarah begins, trying to quiet the crowd. “It wasn’t long ago that this nation was under the control of a single party. But now, I will begin working on a Constitution that will maintain an equal voice throughout the nation. Also, I will create a Senate where the pleas of all the people can be heard. I promise that while I am in office, our nation shall prosper in peace. I have been put in a great position and I plan on doing everything in my power to make Canan a place that you can raise your children in. Thank you and God bless.” With that she moves off the stage and walks outside where a waiting car was parked. “Let us go to the Cremlin, there is much work to be done.”
