How so? Not if your region is well organised and has a map prepared in case a conflict arises. Anyway, it's much more fun RPing a country you made up than one that is an RL country.

Agreed, if the map is realistic, and the person in question places his region in a place correlative to the real world (i.e. "My Alliance's region is 60 Miles East of New York"), then I have no problem, but some of the made up countries do leave alot to be desired.

Y'know, the fact that Earth II is a "II" implies that it is based off of something that is a "I". Earth II isn't original, because it's based off of old real-land claims.

Anyone remember when we used to roleplay with our nations instead of ones that exist already?

Well you can still do that. This just gives more geographic bearing to certain situations. Like lets say your country owns Chile and a nation that owns Brazil attacks your ally who owns Argentina to try to get that land. You now know how far away from the fighting you are. About how long it would take for your troops to move in and help your ally and where the fighting is going to occur.

Eh, I just look at it as "those who want to RP an Earth setting can do so". Some people just want to create Earth-based nations. I say the simple solution to this would be for everyone to just have their own "Earths" and leave it at that- if we want to create an Earth-based RP we can just ask others to RP in different areas instead of ensuring a whole Earth is "covered". There's no need to be bound to a map.

Having one standard map of the world allows for wars over small pieces of territory. Currently, all wars are basically stopped by large alliances. Fighting over real life territory gives a chance for War RP's, when two actual people are involved anyways.

Yeah, but claiming tiny little bits of them works pretty good, especially if they're... the name of your Nation State and most people haven't heard of them.

And to anyone who cares (or I'll hit you with a prehistoric fish), ISAN (that's me) doesn't recognise Earth (#) claims as the be all and end all, because I do not see the point of these things at all. ISAN exists on real-life territory, and I can think of... at least one other Nation State with which I'd be willing to RP that also claims the territory. We can work something out, even if it has to be, "a different Andaman and Nicobar". Really, I don't get the point of this- are you limiting yourselves to interaction only with people on the same Earth (#) as you, and if so, why not just...eh...not do that?

OOC: See, that's what I'm talking about. If I wanted to base my nation on an Earth-type planet and said that I wanted to have "X Land", I'd get several people complaining to me that "I already own that land! You can't have it!". So, instead of embroiling myself into a pointless debate over some fictitious world, I'd much rather create my own and leave it at that. Besides, if someone does something to my nation that I don't like, I can simply I.G.N.O.R.E. them. There's a lot more to get worked up about than some game.
