I do have some suggestions, perhaps you should design a ship for assaulting beaches. I'm talking like a cruiser, that has MLRS(unguided rocket artillery) and Look into RAP shells for your smaller guns. (rocket assisted projectile) and possibly for your BB look into Tank armor, more expensive yes, but lighter and stronger. That way you can bring your designs even more up to date.

Well I was designing a landing dock (amongst various other projects) and I was thinking about what you said placing some artillery, to cover landings, on it but then I scrapped as that’s the reason my battle ship has guns to provide artillery for landings and just used as a floating artillery platform. Because I mean who really uses cannons for navel battles nowadays with modern SSN missiles. But your idea of tank armour is very interesting and i may think about incorporating it into my designs. Thanks for the advice. :)

Seriously though, you should put some M-270 Launchers on a ship to cover landings, far more effective than regular Tube Artillery. And trust me, big guns still are usefull in ship to ship warfare. I personally designed a couple of multi-purpose ships but then i got into specialty ships and that got fun, You should she my friggin floating artillery platforms. They kick arse.

2 words, harpoon missiles. My battleship can fire a full salvo of 16 harpoons long before an enemy battleship can get into range to fire its cannons. In this age of navel warfare guns are obsolete when it comes to ship-to-ship confrontations. They are just there for sentimental value and for navel bombardments :).

I know, my own battleships I've designed have Harpoons and Tomahawks, but a main armament is a good thing to have. A battleship's broadside can deliver as much ordinance as a few air strikes from a carrier's air wing. Close in weapon systems can't stop shells.

Or the fact that modern Battleship armor would laugh at a Harpoon Missile Strike.

Don't forget modern missiles are designed to go against thin skinned unarmored vessels. Shells offer the best option there.

And with a mix of new technology I can send a 1,000lb shell about 95 mi's out of one of my Battleships Main Armaments. The shell is also GPS Guided with In-Flight changes and in the terminal phase it can change to laser guided, with a submarine providing the beam, either through Periscope or a retractable buoy that can be cut on a moments notice.


Now don't get me wrong, i am by no means saying my Battleships are impervious to missile strikes, You can reak serious havok on the sensor systems and some of the smaller weapons systems, but unless you get a lucky fire your not going to sink a Battleship, put it out of the fight, maybe, but sink it with Harpoons? Highly unlikely.

Look the thing of it is that people are refusing to realise that the battle ship is a thing of the past. I personally think that a modern battle ship is a waste of time but as everyone is crying out for more battleships I guess I should put my submarine projects on hold and designee a new battleship BUT I'M STILL PUTTING HARPOONS ON IT!!!!:D
