WOODSTOCK (ASP) -- The celebration came several days after the fact, but the enthusiasm of the throngs that packed the streets was still palpable. Thousands of Sarzonian national team fans lined the streets of Parliament Street as the Stars began their delayed victory parade to celebrate the team's Baptism of Fire Cup win.
"This is a great accomplishment for each player, for this team, and for Sarzonia," Coach Bryan Marshall said at the parade. "It was all possible because of you," he said as he lifted the trophy in the air to the wild applause of the crowd.
Police officials estimated the crowd to be 55,000 strong along major arteries in Woodstock. Businesses closed down and streets were lined with reveling citizens, also celebrating their victory over Cam III in war.
"We have been given two gifts in recent days," Terry Abatu, a construction worker from Saugerties said. "First our lads win the Baptism of Fire Cup, next, Cam III agrees to end the war. This is a great day."
