IC:

Callisto floated off from the mainland, like a gem in the middle of the icy waters. Dawn had yet to come and kept the island shrouded in utmost darkness. Serene waters lapped up against the shores, soon to be illuminated by the first few sparks of dawn that would shoot from the horizon over the island in under an hour.

Several men patrolled the beaches on ordered lookout, towards the vast ocean. They wore the uniforms of freshly graduated soldiers from the nearby military base and training academy, and were stationed at the naval port and docks at the southern end. The entire island was relatively small, and could be crossed in a vehicle in under a day.

Deep inside the naval base, down in the sonar rooms, several men were preparing to go off on their night shift and began to get up from their equipment. One of them, a L.T. Kip Kinkel, watched the grid intently between his watch and the thoughts of getting off his shift. As he glanced back from the time, several blips were shown coming over the horizon.

"Shit," he muttered as he stood up. The blips drew closer, appearing more numerous. He reached over to where an itnercom box sat, and picked up the receiver, clicking it on with his thumb.

"Several unidentified ships, closing in from south-east, speed unknown, destination appears to be Callisto. Orders?"

The intercom buzzed static back at him. A few seconds later, a voice rang through, calm and collected, telling everyone within the command bunker that ships were being dispatched and that ground forces were being mobilized towards the southern end of the beach via the highway.

-

Crews had been roused in under five minutes and had started preparing to set sail out into the waters. The sun hadn't shown itself yet, but the water had begun to illuminate, and the tops of the arrivals could barely be distinguished from onlookers.

The complete shipyard began to empty out as 25 ships of varrying size and power pushed themselves out of the narrow bay and into the water, at slow speed. Down in the bunker, things had grown silent.

-

The barracks were emptying out with drastic speed. Fully equipped men and women streamed out into the camp. Several Apocolypse class tanks had already mobilized and numerous soldiers had jumped onto the sides for a free ride down the highway and into the southern end, referred to affectionately as Home of the Hicks. Most of them were green, inexperienced, and didn't expect a fight. A rumour had arisen that the whole event was a fluke and would blow over in udner an hour.

Several Viper APC's rolled by, accenting the realism of the situation considering 1,200 troops of the 3rd brigade were being sent down to the southern beaches to deal with it.

The Commander of the Pheonix legion looked at the horizen. Waited from the high command to give the order to attack. a sarge amount of static came throught the radio and the order came.
"General, move into position and comence attack. Your victory will earn you much hounor in the council." The radio message then ended.

"Right, you heard him, Commence bombardment of the land. All units open fire. Hit them hard." He said in the speakers. This was heard all over the fleet.

All Navel vessles moved into the designated positions. Hundreds of aircraft started to fly over the base, droping their payloads again and again. Black hawk helicopters fired their vaulcan cannons and missiles while chooniks landed out of sight of the defenders. The ships also lauched shells at the beach, firing on the most defendable positions. As this happened hundred of small transport ships carrying the ground forces moved towards the beach..........
