The Kingdom of Germania Superior announces to the global community its intention to secede from the illegal Federation of Lauterburg. The false rulers who currently occupy the seats of power within Lauterburg were installed by a corrupt body of individuals who deposed the monarchy without valid pretense and with devious cunning. The Most Serene Republic of Shalrirorchia officially recognizes the Kingdom of Germania Superior, welcoming it to the international community.

"The Shalrirorchian Republic advocates the right of self-determination." President Tarumigan Gistarai announced today. "And we are a nation that stands on principle."

In related news, Secretary of Defense George Beregovoy is scheduled to make an impromptu visit to Germania Superior. His travel itinerary has him landing in the overseas facilities at McKinley Air Force base, then taking a Defense Department transport plane to the country itself. He is expected to explore economic and diplomatic policies that the two nations share.

We would, however, like proof that the Federation is corrupt. Shalrirorchia does not abandon democratic states for monarchies without an excellent reason.

The Lauterburger Federal Union is dismayed that this internal affair, the work of a small group of malcontents, has garnered unwarranted attention and support from other nations. The new government will never recognise a shell state administered by absolute monarchs bent on re-establishing a suffocating and despotic monarchy with a sham parliament. The Federation asks that other nations kindly refrain from encouraging the Royalist insurrectionists within our borders by offering diplomatic recognition.

A minor scandal has erupted in the Shalrirorchian Congress with the revelation that Shalcoria's involvement in Germania Superior may have some less than altruistic motives.

Documents leaked by an anonymous Defense Department employee indicate a strong desire by the Shalrirorchian government to establish a military base in the area, which would spread Shalrirorchian influence there, possibly at the expense of Lauterburg and other regional powers.

President Tarumigan Gistarai vehemently denied the reports, but appeared to backpedal from his earlier statement. "Lauterburg has a responsibility to treat those people equitably. And if it's not, a push for independence is completely understandable."

The Conservative Party, Gistarai's political opponents, had a somewhat different take. "This is just typical of the corruption of this administration." John Merrick, the Conservative Party's leader said brazenly. "And I am calling for a full investigation into what President Gistarai intended.

Facing an investigation into his State Department, President Tarumigan Gistarai today retreated again from his positions regarding Germania Superior. "I believe that the facts surrounding this internal dispute should be reviewed by a multinational body immediately." the President said before boarding Air Force One.

Gistarai's ruling Progressive Party has been under severe pressure from Shalrirorchian business interests to open up expanded economic relations with the Federal Union. The AEGIS Corporation, which is the largest business entity in Shalrirorchia and a major Gistarai-backer, issued a public statement yesterday imploring the President to reconsider his policy. And in a humiliating legislative defeat, the Shalrirorchian Senate voted 60-40 in favor of a nonbinding resolution supporting the Federal Union of Lauterburg's sovereignty over Marburg, with ten Progressive senators breaking ranks and voting for the resolution.

Seto Hitachi, Conservative Senate Minority Leader, went even one step farther. "This region is already a major market for Shalrirorchian products." he said. "Instability there is unacceptable, regardless of circumstance. And it is highly inappropriate for the leader of a free nation to even consider backing a monarchy. Given the influx of funds and weapons to Marburg, the Senate is considering a resolution authorizing the use of force to ensure that the sovereign and structural integrity of the Federal Union is preserved. Of course, Shalrirorchian troops would not be deployed without a request from Lauterburg as we see it, at this time."

The news is not all bad for President Gistarai. Although a majority of voters disapprove of his initial overture to Germania Superior (63%), he still is highly popular overall with the public...his current approval rating stands at just over 67%.

The official position of the Shalrirorchian Republic is that Marburg is an integral part of the Federal Union of Lauterburg, and that the Republic is willing to use force to ensure that Lauterburg's territorial boundries remain intact.

McKinley Air Force Base has begun receiving Shalrirorchian reinforcements, including elements of the RRF or Rapid Response Force, which makes heavy use of air power.

Shalrirorchia condemns in the STRONGEST POSSIBLE TERMS the continuation of arms transactions between various third party nations and the insurgency. Pursuant to the goals of Central Command as set out by the President, the Defense Force is preparing to initiate Operation Starlight. Shalrirorchia cannot allow the continued flow of arms to an imperial rebellion in this area.

Weapons transfers to rebel forces not only threaten democracy in this area, they present a more immediate threat to the security of McKinley Air Force Base located on Severnaya Island.

A full Marine assault group has begun fortifying the base, and the Rapid Reaction Force has managed to deploy the entire division in addition to the Marines.

MLRS weapons systems have been deployed on nearby Tahara Island. This battery is designated Werewolf. Werewolf's goal is to limit access to the coast. Nominal artillery range of 50 miles.

Three Navy frigates... SRS Valiant, SRS Battleaxe, and SRS Archimedes have joined the heavy cruiser SRS Gryphon, designated Task Force 14. TF 14 is to implement an immediate blockade of the coastline that is not cut off by Werewolf.

McKinley AFB is now designated Starbase. Starbase will remain on standby, with planes ready on the tarmac. SAM Defense Grid is fully operational.

The Republic of Shalrirorchia hereby declares that the coastal waters off of Lauterburg are off limits to Imperial naval traffic. The control zone of Shalrirorchian territorial waters are being temporarily extended from three miles all the way out to Lauterburg's water-border. Shalrirorchia will patrol this area, and will consider any intrusion on this border to be an act of national aggression and will respond accordingly. Any unauthorized civilian vessels discovered in the containment area will be boarded and any illegal weapons cargoes seized. The ships will then be escorted out of Shalrirorchia's territorial waters.

Any vessels attempting to run this blockade WILL be fired upon and disabled, then towed to the nearest Shalrirorchian port. The crews will be interred and their cargoes confiscated.

Any Imperial Military vessels who enter Shalrirorchian territorial waters are committing an act of war insofar as the Republic is concerned. Shalrirorchia reserves the right to retaliate with lethal force in this situation.

We will be dispatching the WSS Subaru, the WSS Rodina, and the WSS Blackbird to assist The Lightning Star in their peacekeeping mission over the Kingdom of Germania Superior, providing they are willing to accept us. Current ETA is approximately 18 hours. As our skyships are on a peacekeeping/observation mission only, any attacks upon them will be regarded as an act of war. The skyship captains are under orders not to engage unless attacked first.

As the Sakura class will soon be retired from active duty in favor of the new trio of skyship classes, this will probably be their last international assignment.

Rear Admiral Carlisle Lightoller twisted around to his XO. "Have you got those bugs worked out on the MILSTARS system, yet?"

Captain Steven Sharra nodded, pulling up his cup of coffee and looking out the bridge windows. "The MILSTARS sats are watching the entire area almost nonstop, and we have radar on top of that." he replied quietly. "If someone tries to sneak through the blockade, we are going to see them coming."

The admiral snickered. "I can remember before we had MILSTARS. Before every soldier and every ship were linked into that vast electronic array. Personally, I cannot imagine fighting WITHOUT the level of control the network gives us."

Sharra nodded. "Knowledge is power." he agreed.

"Radio Starbase. If things get ugly, I want some fighters in my skies posthaste. We've spent billions developing those ATG shipkilling missiles to rival anything the Exocets ever did. I want that investment to pay off if it comes to shooting."

"Bringing Kamui online," the weapons officer stated. The bridge of the WSS Subaru was humming with activity. The Subaru was ordered not to fire the first shot, but that didn't help if the other side had an itchy finger.

The comtech typed a few commands into her console. "We have contact."

At nearly 8,000 meters, very few things could harm the diamond-plated hull of a Sakura class. Even so, all weapons systems were online and functional. Anyone shooting at any of the three Skyships was in for a nasty surprise.

Commander Maraan looked up....and up....and up. Having never before seen an airship of the type that the Subaru represented, he was most assuredly impressed.

His awe left him a moment later when he realized that the damn thing was floating right over Werewolf battery.

"Uh....sir?" one of his techs squeeled over the radio. "Did Command tell us to enforce a blockade of the AIR too?"

Maraan tore his eyes away from the sight, and picked up the transmitter. Command hadn't been specific about the air. But he was almost certain that they wanted to completely cordon off the coast. He reached over, flipping the switch to general radio broadcast.

"Attention unknown airship. This area is under the control of the Shalrirorchian Defense Force. You are ordered to withdraw to neutral territory immediately." the Commander said steadily, trying to keep a tremor out of his voice. Then he cut out, and switched back to the force circuit. "SAMs, batteries 3 and 7, respond."

"Three here." someone radioed.
"Seven, boss." came another acknowledgement.

"Lock coordinates into your firing computers. I want these missiles to be dumb. Fire two warning shots across her bow. I repeat, across the bow. DO NOT FIRE AT THE AIRSHIP." he emphasized.

"Complying."

On Board the I.A.S. Sky Fox, Battleship Class:Alexandria.

The captain surveyed the Skies. This was prime flying weather. "Sir, we have recieved word that Shalrirochia Is closing Germanian Superiorian AirSpace." Said the on-board computer.
"Continue on the course, over. Our Fleet can take down their missiles, and this aid MUST reach Gs's People." Replied the Captain.
"Yes sir!"

The Imperial AirFleet will NOT call back its ships deployed over Germania Superior. The AirFleet has decided to send in a second squadron for Back if needed by the Ships already deployed. Any attack on the AIrfleet will not be accepted well by The Lightning Star OR our allies. This is a peacekeeping mission but ANY shots at our ships will create an international Crisis.

Maraan swore quietly as the graceful airship continued onward, obviously ignoring his directive. Somehow, he felt compelled to flip the broadcast switch again. "Unknown airship. I am about to shoot you down. Nothing personal." he said, then flipped back to the unit circuit. "All units, open fire. Target engines if possible."

Eight Shalrirorchian missile batteries cut loose, sending a powerful volley of warheads skyward, trailing thick smoke behind them. The Commander raised his field binoculars to his eyes to observe the effect.

"Incoming missile," the same computerized voice blared throughout the three skyships. Two Phoenix-2 missiles flashed from the Subaru's interceptor stockpile, guided by the Subaru's powerful radar and infrared, and incinerated the two 'dumb' SAMS several hundred meters away from the Subaru's hull.

"All stop," Captain Fear commanded, activating her own radio uplink. "This is Capt'n Fear of the Weyrean Skyship Subaru. We are here on an observation mission, nothing more. If you would be so kind as not to fire on us again and let us continue..." she said icily, leaving the statement hanging.

"More missiles," the weapons tech stated calmly, her radar lighting up.

"SIr, we have recieved word that the Weyrian AirFleet has come under attack. Are we to assist?" Said one of the Radio operators.
"Affirmative, But first send word to AirCommand that we;re gonna be needing that Second Squadron." He replied cooly.
"Roger that sir"

As the Ships steered towards the Weyrian Ships, mainly the Subaru, the Captain Hailed the AA guns on the ground. "To whoever i have the honor f addressing, stop firing on that Peacekeeping ship or we WILL drop our napalm load and bomb your posistion into dust, over." As more missiles approached the Subaru, some of the Ragnarok 8s started to shot down the Attacking Missiles.

Maraan drummed his fingers on the radio for a moment, considering his options before responding. "Captain Fear, I am Commander Maraan of the Shalrirorchian Defense Force. This area is closed to all traffic until further notice." he said quietly, looking up. "Be advised that, as we speak, my noncom is requesting air support from McKinley Air Force Base. No supplies are being allowed through to the rebels. If you set your course to the following coordinates and head for neutral territory, I will not fire again. Please consider carefully, Captain. I would hate to damage a work of art like that sky-ship."

The Sakuras were not built for evading missiles, they were built to take them on and survive. Hundreds of small Phoenix-2 missiles streaked from the six cells located on each of the three peachpit-shaped Weyrean skyships. Automated defenses had the plus of not having to wait for their sluggish human counterparts. Whatever got through that storm of rockets was greeted by a wall of flak and sub-etherics.

A fiery ball erupted against the Subaru's side. "Impact, section 3b," the skyship shuddered with the impact, but kept going up. "Engine 12 offline. Compensating." After getting shot up in the Kalandian conflict, the crew didn't worry too much about one single missile impact, even if that impact took out two smaller cannon and disabled one of the Broadside artillery cannon.

If you set your course to the following coordinates and head for neutral territory, I will not fire again. Please consider carefully, Captain. I would hate to damage a work of art like that sky-ship."

"Well, ser Maraan," Fear responded, "I should really open fire and demolish your batteries. But I won't. We'll watch from your coordinates, if it suits you."

Although I am not exactly sure, it would appear that you are on the side of Germania Superior. If so, be aware that at some not-too-distant point there will be 3 Royal Xeraphian Airforce Airwings arriving over the skies of Lauterburg and Germania Superior in 16 sucessive waves. Afterwards, we will be establishing FireBases on GS soil. Initial landings will be of Sioux Gunships and Blackhawk HC's. Ka 60 Kasatka Troop Transports will begin deploying ground troops in support of the FireBases. MASH Units will be set up, and a Central Operations Center erected. These areas will be heavily patrolled and defended.

On board the Hidron, Flagship of Second Admiral Stukov.

Josef Stukov was an esteemed military hero. He been a pilot for the Navy, so he was well sited for the job in the AirFleet. He origionally started out jsut as captain, but his role int eh brief airship campaign in Mozambique saw his rise to Second ADmiral. He was about 6 feet tall, he had a light tan, and he had a gotee. he was a bit charasmatic, but in public he stutered quite alot. For some strange reason, all of thse traits had made him Second admiral, and for good reason, they would be needed in this War.

"Sir, the AirFleet is in position, shall we begin the bombings?" said one of his Aides. "Yes, first drop the Napalm, then start the bombing." he replied
"Aye aye,sir!"

All along the coast, it seemed like hell was breaking loose. Some Airships were falling out of the sky, and im someplaces it seemed that hell had suddenly decided to visit the beach. There was Naplam almost everywhere, and missile, round and sky bound, screetched through the skies. As the cruise missiles started bombing the AA-Positions, a few of them were shot down, but the rest hit their targets with deadly accuracy. The incindiary bullets from all of the Airships and the Smoke from the Flak cannons ont eh ground made it seem like it was raining fiedrops out of black clouds. The Burning Hulls of Airships crashed all over the shore, but eventually the fighting ended. The entire coastline was a burning wall. Flames lept 100 feet into the air, and forest along the coasts started burning. Carcases littered the shorline, and soem of the water itself was on fire due to the Napalm. If there ever was a hell on earth, this was it.

(these are only our casualties, but since we attacked everything along the shorelines, we probably did alot of colateral and miliary damage.)

United we are Strong! Your citzens may encounter the "vietnam Syndrome", f you engage ina war against all of us. I doubt our citizens would be happy fighting a war against al your enemy nations combined populatiosna re as large as yours (or even larger)

The Evil Empire of Akaton is not intimidated by a mere naval blockade. Our aid convoy will continue on to Germania Superior. The Imperial battle group will hold position in international waters, but if the convoy is attacked, they are ordered to engage the enemy. Attacking the convoy will be considered an act of piracy, and as such will be met with no mercy. Prisoners will not be taken.

Be advised, the Akaton military has 100 D-15 Dropships in low orbit, ready to land 100,000 troops in waves of 4000 every two hours should they be necessary. A wing of B-1B strategic bombers is on combat alert, ready to fly in 10 minutes notice. 30 Empyrean Class Aerospace fighters and 40 Reaper VTOLs are being deployed to Carrier Battlegroup Alpha. Reserves of 400,000 more troops can be deployed within a week should they be needed.

Add to that the population of GAPTS (Grand Alliance of Peace Through Strength), which is comprised of 7 nations of the same stature as Xeraph, and the many other allied nations who will aid us without question, and you can see that we outnumber you.

I have a suggestion: can we not come to some sort of agreement as to the solving of this little problem? We have already bombarded the Lauterburg coast with naval and missile barrages, with little loss to us. Our troops are already landing, and in just a few hours will have 500,000 armored troopers on Federal land. Our allies are deploying another 875,000 troops from the various nations, and our Armored Divisions are off-shore waiting to disembark. The few allies you had guarding your shoreline are no more.

Lauterburg denies the false reports of Xeraphian troops occupying any portion of the Federal Union. State intelligence has not informed us of any advancing enemy soldiers, only the skirmish between unidentified combatants off our coasts. The Federal Union warns foreign states who vastly underestimate the Union and the power and extent of its foreign arrangements to cease any hostile actions against us or we will be forced to retaliate in a most unpleasant manner.

OOC- Assuming Admiral Stukov hit the Shalrirorchian batteries.

"Sir, Air Command has confirmation. Werewolf battery has been annihilated. They're rushing in the Medevac units right now." Colonel Level said breathlessly, saluting his CO.

Major General John Sharana stared at Level for a moment, but shook off his surprise. He was a veteran command officer who had fought in the West Pacific War of 2003, who'd fought and won. He was now the commander of all Shalrirorchian Defense Forces in this area.

He paused to look the window of his office. Men were scrambling across the airfield to their fighter planes. The blue and white Shalrirorchian flag flapped freely in a stiff breeze just outside the window. There was a high-tech beauty to McKinley as the base of his operations.

"I will be down to the command center in fifteen." Sharana replied evenly. "Launch an immediate counterstrike on the airship columns. Use the extreme-range missiles...the ones we use to bring down heavy bombers."

"Aye sir." Level replied.

Half an hour later, two squadrons of 10 Screaming Eagle fighter planes roared off the tarmac of McKinley, seeking revenge.

The Eagle Air-Superiority fighter is the next step in the evolution of Shalrirorchian air forces. It was designed to be a hyper-maneuverable airspace control fighter. Efforts to make it a platform for air-to-ground operations have not been particularly successful, but it remains an excellent weapon for shooting down other aircraft.

On behalf of the Shalrirorchian forces in this area, I strongly urge you to crush the Germania Superior revolt immediately. The ability of Shalrirorchia to cordon off the coast is rapidly degrading. Unless my government authorizes reinforcements, I will be unable to ensure the security of the waterways save for those immediately adjacent to my headquarters at McKinley Air Force Base.

OOC: I am going to assume the landings happened while I was asleep and so I will post my deployment and losses and such. If we have not landed ground forces yet then ignore my post.

IC: Parachuting behind the burning napalm the 1st paratroopers (consisting of 500 RCI's and 100 HSRI's)advanced on the burning napalm. The first infantry(500 RCI) second infantry(500 RCI) and the 3rd assualt(200 HSRI, 300 HRCU) landed on the beach at the same time as the para's were dropped they jumped out of they're transports and chraged the beach unaffected by the burning napalm but creating the scarriest thing the enemy has ever seen a burning human shaped thing with weapons blazing standing a few feet taller than them with support from 9 foot tall Almost human looking robot with a massive heavy machine gun instead of an arm clearly meaning that these where machines but the fought talked and acted like humans not just walking up the beach shooting everything methodically they sprinted up the beach taking cover laying down cover fire and occasionally throwing grenades the officers shouting orders and infantry shouting warcrys. As the enemy is ingaged with the landing force a second robotic force with RCI's and HSRI's advanced through the napalm(1st para) and attacked they're exposed back the ebemy forces in that sector were quickly destroyed and a beachhead established.

There was a sign of Anger in the streets. Over 10,000 Of their Brave AirFleet crewmen had died! There were reports of a beach were it was all fire. Not water, Napalm. And the Sand had turned to glass. While reports estimated that the men had killed more than their own number, the people were furious. They demanded action. That day Congress had a surprise meeting. They had decided, 453-0, in favor of deploying the Entire AirFleet, as well as deploying 500,000 Imperial Shock Troopers. The Imperial Army was marching off to war.

On board the Sky Fox

The Ship had taken heavy damage. nearly 1/3 of the Crew had perished, and 19 Ragnarok 8's had been destroyed, as well as two battleships, the I.A.S. Lightning Storm and the I.A.S. HellFire They had lost enough ships from the fight with the AA gun positions, and then a bunch of Fighter Planes attacked. They did heay damage to the planes, but they still managed to take down a few ships, and killed alot more men on the broken ones. He was relieved to ge tthe news that the REst of the Fleet was Approacing. Finally we could show these Lauterburgans the true meaning of War.

It was a scene of utter chaos aboard the SSBN Ghostback One, with papers, cups, and bodies flying around the command deck. "Tell them to get they're arses back here before they mine our friendlies!" shouted Commanding Officer Tad Hume to his Radio Man above the dull roar. "Aye Skip, message is on all avaliable gertrude that we have sah."
A low pitch siren came in through the Radio Man's R/T device.
"Wil you shut the hell up!" screamed Hume, blue in the face.
The sound comming through the Gertrude, or underwater telephone, was very faint.
"Aye UAI Ghost, Phantie Hopeful 1 and Hopefull 2 will tell others. Mine deployment delayed, repeat mine deployment delayed. Hopeful 1 out."
The cheers coming from the commad deck could even be heard outside the submarine's hull.
"Thank God," muttered Hume, "Thank God."

The trio of Weyrean skyships joined the fray soon after the fighters showed up, filling the sky with missile trails. They inflicted heavy losses, but not without taking losses themselves. A series of missiles took out the Subaru's starboard side turrets. Another pair disabled the primary engines of the [i]Rodina/i].

"Lieutenant, get the firing coordinates for the enemy air base," Fear snapped. The Sakura was an artillery platform. At this altitude it had a range of several hundred kilometers with no problems.

Moments later, the working hatches on the three skyships opened up, adjusted their aim, and opened fire with devastating accuracy.

A bit ahead of XF's Advance into Lauterburg.

Sky Admiral Jose O'reilly(no relation to Bill O'reilly) looked at the expanse of land ahead of him. THis was really a beautiful country, and it was a pity it had to go to hell. Origionally, the people were here to defend GS. Now they were here for revenge. These people had killed Imperial AirMen, and they were gonna pay. "Admiral, we've found a place to land the Troops", said a voice out of the radio. "Alright, drop off your cargo.", turning to his assistant he said "I want them to be ecorted by 20 Rags, send the one you think would be best for the job." "Yessir!" Came the reply. As the Highwinds started veering away fom the Fleet, the other ship sstarted going in another direction.

"Sir, we've found a city. It seems to be fairly well populated. It doesnt seem to be guarded though." said one of the radar operators. "excelent, he said, as he started steering towards the city. "Attention people of the city below us," He said over the microphone on everyship so that the people int e city below could hear him " You have 6 hours to surrender. Any Shots fired at our ship WILL result in the dropping of our cargo, and then your fair city wil be no more."

The Infantry will be used to screen the area infront of Xf's forces. These troops will slaughter any who oppose them, as they are i this country for the sole purpose of revenge.

We approve of the peaceful ideas that King Alaric of Xeraph has brought to the table. However, peaceful as those ideas may be, Xeraph's actions have been anything but peaceful. However, if both sides will agree to break off hostilities and withdraw from foreign territory, we would be glad to facilitate peace talks in any way possible. However, if a cease-fire becomes impossible to negotiate and Lauterburg keeps their stance toward going through this fight alone. We would not be counted with them. We must clarify that our only objection to this entire action is that it very clearly violates Lauterburg's rights to self-determination, where it is not entirely clear to us that the government of Germania Superior is entirely legitimate. At this point in time, neither side should consider us an enemy or an ally, we do support Lauterburg's point of view, but if both sides are willing to be reasonable about this conflict, we will certainly join any diplomatic talks conducted.

"Hmm. It seems like the war started without us." Admiral Balthazar said, obviously annoyed by that fact. "To hell with international waters," the Admiral shouted, "launch the attack!"

75 miles above them, warning lights flashed in the command cabin of the lead dropship, signaling the attack had begun. Engaging rocket engines, the 100 D-15 dropships slowly cruied down toward central Lauterburg below. In the troop compartments of the dropships, a legion of Akaton's finest elite soldiers prepared to attack. As the ships enterd the atmosphere, missile launches were detected. Engaging evasive maneuvers, the dropships tried to dodge the fast approaching missiles. As the missiles streaked past, 7 dropships were hit, spinning wildly out of control and exploding seconds later. The suriving ships returned fire, decimating the missile launchers.

Upon landing, the troops quickly filed out of the dropshis and established a perimeter. There was little resistance from the enemy, as they landed in a remote location in Lauterburg. As quickly as they had come, the dropships took off to bring reinforcements.

OOC: The seven dropships that were destroyed contained 280 troops. They all died. :(

MCKINLEY AIR FORCE BASE COMMAND CENTER

General Sharana was almost immediately aware that half of his fighters were not going to return, having been shot down in the fight with the airships. The MILSTARS network kept real-time data on the ongoing battle, so the general could watch as it happened. "Scramble rescue helicopters and..." he began.

"Sir! We have incoming artillery fire, unknown type." shouted one of the operators.

Sharana's eyes traveled to the Command Center's main screen, which was now tracking the incoming fire. Then he glanced at the external video feeds, showing him various angles of the base. "Oh Hell."


MCKINLEY AIR FORCE BASE, TARMAC

"Attention all personnel. This is Major General Sharana. Take cover. I repeat, take cover!" the speakers squawked.

Shalrirorchian military personnel ran for their lives, abandoning the planes and equipment currently out on the tarmac. The lights on the runways begin flashing red, indicating a full combat alert. The lights painted the base blood-crimson in the setting sun.

Shalrirorchian base facilities were not minor, trivial structures. They were usually constructed of steel-reinforced concrete and designed to withstand substantial punishment.

The artillery attack nevertheless played Hell with the base. Not everyone could reach one of the armored air-strike bunkers in time, and those who couldn't paid dearly for their tardiness as 140mm and 80mm shells began raining down on McKinley.

The first shell was a 140mm high-explosive round. It landed squarely on the fuel depot used to service the aircraft. The resulting explosion and firestorm was sufficient to be seen from satellites in space. More havoc was to follow. Three fighters on the runway at the time were hit by fragmentation rounds and riddled with holes. A Shalrirorchian military transport helicopter carrying Brigadier General Seral Connor was hit by a lucky shot as it attempted to escape. The aircraft lurched and belched smoke, then crashed into a barracks, killing the General and a number of unfortunate Marines within the building. Other rounds peppered the high-tech runway, destroying bits and pieces of it. A Crusader tank took a glancing hit and began burning. The crew bailed, and scrambled to cover in a bunker with shell fragments flying all around them. Two high-explosive rounds hit the Command Center. Although the explosives did not penetrate the heavy armor of the facility, the concussion-blasts knocked soldiers inside off their feet and crashed the uplink to the MILSTARS system.

"Son of a bitch!" yelled Sharana, regaining his feet, his uniform jacket dusty from insulation shaken loose from the ceiling. Everywhere he looked, computer screens flickered weakly. Outside, the rain of death continued for another three minutes. "Status report!"

"Main power remains online. Our orbital uplink with MILSTARS is gone...I am trying to reconnect now." shouted one tech. "SIR! SAM Defense grid has been disabled. Base Construction Facility not responding. A shell must've cut the control wires!"

"Dispatch repair crews at once!" snarled Sharana. "Reroute those fighters to Nellis and have a tanker meet them halfway...we can't service aircraft in this condition."

"Casualty reports coming in, sir." another tech chimed. "We have at least 40 dead, and twice as many wounded."

The general removed his hat. "Harley, you said that that was a direct-fire artillery barrage, correct?" The tech blinked, and nodded. "Yes sir, from the airships most likely. Why?"

"Come with me." the general replied evenly.

Sharana hadn't waited for the Med teams to finish rescuing the many fallen soldiers on the airfield before he had the guns rolled up.

The MAC (Magnetically Accelerated Cannon) gun was a new prototype test-toy for the Shalrirorchian Defense Force. A shipment of them had arrived not more than a week ago for defensive purposes.

"Sir!" shouted the sweaty Technician Harley. "Are you entirely certain this is a wise course of action?"

General Sharana wondered much the same thing himself. The MAC guns had been designed to provide a long range anti-warship weapon. It was designed to penetrate the armor of naval battleships. But the cannons COULD be elevated to sufficient levels to fire into the sky. This was one reason they had their phenomenal range. "No, Harley, I am not entirely certain that this is a good idea. But proceed anyway."

Six MAC cannons sat in their mobile units. The techs, led by Harley, had just finished hooking them up to the base power grid. Power and fiber-optic cables trailed across the runway to the large machines, providing power and targeting data. Sharana was taking a significant risk here...each cannon required a rather consequential expenditure of energy to operate. It was entirely possible that he was about to crash the entire base power grid. But duty demanded he try.

"Sir, coils are charged." shouted Harley. "Target data locked in from MILSTARS. Hostile airships are targeted!"

"STAND CLEAR!" shouted General Sharana, walking up to the controls. He would fire the guns. That way, if the damn things blew up in his face, only HE would pay the price for this craziness, not his men.

A low hum began to build up around the MACs. It grew in intensity until it was almost a shriek. Sharana was perversely satisfied to see the lights flicker around the base as the enormous power drain took its' toll. The guns could reach out and touch someone a hundred miles distant or perhaps more, provided it worked.

Sharana pushed the fire command. "Eat this you zealots."

The guns made surprisingly little sound. There was a loud "PHOOT!" and the barrels barely quivered...the projectiles were propelled by magnetic force and not gunpowder, so recoil was negligible. But the sonic boom that accompanied the shots was quite reassuring. The weapons worked! "RELOAD!" shouted Harley.

The imperialist alliance had been put on notice. Shalrirorchia was not just going to be an annoyance. It was going to be a royal pain in the ass.

MCKINLEY AIR FORCE BASE COMMAND CENTER

General Sharana was almost immediately aware that half of his fighters were not going to return, having been shot down in the fight with the airships. The MILSTARS network kept real-time data on the ongoing battle, so the general could watch as it happened. "Scramble rescue helicopters and..." he began.

"Sir! We have incoming artillery fire, unknown type." shouted one of the operators.

Sharana's eyes traveled to the Command Center's main screen, which was now tracking the incoming fire. Then he glanced at the external video feeds, showing him various angles of the base. "Oh Hell."


MCKINLEY AIR FORCE BASE, TARMAC

"Attention all personnel. This is Major General Sharana. Take cover. I repeat, take cover!" the speakers squawked.

Shalrirorchian military personnel ran for their lives, abandoning the planes and equipment currently out on the tarmac. The lights on the runways begin flashing red, indicating a full combat alert. The lights painted the base blood-crimson in the setting sun.

Shalrirorchian base facilities were not minor, trivial structures. They were usually constructed of steel-reinforced concrete and designed to withstand substantial punishment.

The artillery attack nevertheless played Hell with the base. Not everyone could reach one of the armored air-strike bunkers in time, and those who couldn't paid dearly for their tardiness as 140mm and 80mm shells began raining down on McKinley.

The first shell was a 140mm high-explosive round. It landed squarely on the fuel depot used to service the aircraft. The resulting explosion and firestorm was sufficient to be seen from satellites in space. More havoc was to follow. Three fighters on the runway at the time were hit by fragmentation rounds and riddled with holes. A Shalrirorchian military transport helicopter carrying Brigadier General Seral Connor was hit by a lucky shot as it attempted to escape. The aircraft lurched and belched smoke, then crashed into a barracks, killing the General and a number of unfortunate Marines within the building. Other rounds peppered the high-tech runway, destroying bits and pieces of it. A Crusader tank took a glancing hit and began burning. The crew bailed, and scrambled to cover in a bunker with shell fragments flying all around them. Two high-explosive rounds hit the Command Center. Although the explosives did not penetrate the heavy armor of the facility, the concussion-blasts knocked soldiers inside off their feet and crashed the uplink to the MILSTARS system.

"Son of a bitch!" yelled Sharana, regaining his feet, his uniform jacket dusty from insulation shaken loose from the ceiling. Everywhere he looked, computer screens flickered weakly. Outside, the rain of death continued for another three minutes. "Status report!"

"Main power remains online. Our orbital uplink with MILSTARS is gone...I am trying to reconnect now." shouted one tech. "SIR! SAM Defense grid has been disabled. Base Construction Facility not responding. A shell must've cut the control wires!"

"Dispatch repair crews at once!" snarled Sharana. "Reroute those fighters to Nellis and have a tanker meet them halfway...we can't service aircraft in this condition."

"Casualty reports coming in, sir." another tech chimed. "We have at least 40 dead, and twice as many wounded."

The general removed his hat. "Harley, you said that that was a direct-fire artillery barrage, correct?" The tech blinked, and nodded. "Yes sir, from the airships most likely. Why?"

"Come with me." the general replied evenly.

Hmm, you have a point... I can still send in 500,000 regular soldiers :D or even 1 million if i wanted. I could raise and army of... 12 million if i wanted (its 5% of my pop.) and if i was invaded i could deffinetly raise at least 20 million (8 million conscripts) But i dont ant to go to war (as in invadign each others countries war) with you, i have too much to loose, i think you do too.

Personally, I think these numbers are nuts. The USA has about 140,000 troops in Iraq now, an active war zone, and it's heavily overtaxed. :)

I'd reckon that at max, with reinforcements, there are no more than 50,000 troops on Severnaya. Of course, they ARE sitting in entrenched positions, so that counts for something too, but still..

"Shit, capt'n!" the weapons officer shouted on the bridge of the Subaru. Something, several somethings, had gone right through the Blackbird, blasting massive holes through the peachpit-shaped hull of the skyship.

"This is Blackbird . . . fusactors offline..." the fleet com crackled.

"Blackbird, pick a place and land," Fear sent.

"Roger..."

"Evasive action and blow them to hell," Fear commanded her weapons officer, who activated the autofire AI commands. It took perhaps a split second for the trajectory to be confirmed. The next shots would land directly onto the battery that disabled the Blackbird.

The WSS Blackbird was a flurry of activity, as her crew raced to put out the fires caused by an exploding fusactor. At least five crewmembers were missing, of the original forty that were aboard.

After a tense thirty seconds, the chief engineer turned to say that the second fusactor was dead, which brought some relief. An exploding fusactor would have demolished everything for at least a hundred kilometers around.

"Ensign, what's our status?" the captain asked.
"I can hold her, but another few hits like that and we'll be breaking up, ser."
"Choose a good place to land."
"Gotcha." The blackbird angled downwards, her hull groaning from the stress placed on damaged bulkheads and ribbing, but not before loosening another artillery salvo with its remaining guns, from data uploaded from the Subaru's main computer.

WEll the U.S> isnt rule by a Psycotic Dictator( im not in the mood for doing a debate on how bush is, so dont even THINK about it), and it doesnt have a Giant EMpire, and it doesnt have all teh technological Advances I do. Plus the U.S> spends liek 75 million dollars per soldier or something. I use effective, but not quite so expensive, stuff for my soldiers. Plus i have an Airship fleet, which the U.S. Doesnt :D

"You could've told us that beforehand," Fear growled. "Anyone bother to tell that to the other guys?" She turned to the weapons officer. "Cease fire, for now."

Now that you have agreed to the Cease-fire, we are willing to maybe take on your wounded and give you supplies with which to repair your ships (our Irionril may not be and protective as your diamond but its jsut a quick repair job). We also have a few Spare Bahamut Engines and an Extra Nuclear reactor if yyou need them. Dont worry, their free :)

The low, fearful wail of air raid sirens made General Sharana recognize that he'd gotten the result he'd hoped for. "INCOMING SHELLS!" the speakers squawked. He glanced over at the MAC battery, and shouted at the top of his lungs. "RETRACT THE DAMN GUNS! NOW!"

The technicians began double-timing it. The cannons were relatively easy to fix for travelling...it just took time. The techies began detaching the cables from the machines, then realized that they didn't have time and just began driving, tearing the fiber optics and power cables out as they drove.

Two of the cannons, however, were jammed. The general waved the crews away. "TAKE COVER AND LEAVE THOSE!" he yelled, then ran for the nearest bunker himself.

He hadn't quite reached it when the awesome attack of the airships hit the battery. The concussion wave blew the breath from his lungs and crushed him against the side of a building. Round after round smashed into the tarmac, blasting the two cannons to ribbons and sending one of the massive chassis twirling through the air. "OH SH...!" the general screamed, throwing himself to the side. The wreckage crashed into the building only feet from where he had been standing. A second later, the entire building imploded in a thunderous roar of violated masonry and twisted steel.

It took him several minutes to regain his senses.

"Sir....SIR!" shouted Sergeant Rollins, shaking him. "Are you all right?"

"Fine...never better..." Sharana croaked, looking at the massive, flaming crater in the ground.

"Sir..." Rollins said, thrusting a display padd into his hands. "We got one of the bastards." he reported with a toothy grin. "Radar saw her go down."

The general looked at the data with unfocused eyes for a moment, and then realized that what it was telling him. "She made a controlled descent."

"Yes sir!"

"Rollins...I want you to get together an assault team. Get one of the transports from the hangar and go to that ship...what was it called again?"

"Blackbird, sir, according to her transponder." Rollins replied.

"Yes. Fly low to avoid detection. Go in and secure the Blackbird for the Shalrirorchian Republic. Take prisoners for interrogation back here at base if you can. And download any information you can glean from her computers." the general ordered.

"And then sir?" Rollins asked.

"Then wire explosive charges to her sturcturals and get the Hell out of there!" Sharana snarled. "With the crew, of course."

Rollins smiled, a special forces commando at his finest. "Sarge does what Sarge does best."

As of this moment, preliminary negotiations between the two governments have concluded and a few terms have been agreed upon. Germania Superior has been granted Dominion status within a new Federated Empire of Lauterburg to be headed by His Imperial Majesty, Albrecht I, Lauterburger Emperor and King of Marburg-Saxe-Lothrinburg.

The government of the former Federal Union extends its thanks to our erstwhile allies, but recognises that when faced with the prospect of catastrophic war, the healing of national wounds takes greater precedence over the destructiveness of total conflict. Democracy has been strangled in its infancy within our federation and the hope of millions for liberty and equality have been crushed by the crowns, scepters, and diadems of the nobility.

The Imperial AirFleet has secured a perimeter around the Weyrian Ships and we are aiding their forces. Any trying to capture the Ship will result in a massive Barrage of fire from our fleet. We do not wish to escelate this war that has baisically ended back to the insanity it was before.

The Shalrirorchian Military has recalled the force under Sergeant Rollins, and will abide by the cease fire terms. It has also returned to former national water-borders.

While Congress is confused over why economic sanction against our Nation have been emplaced, they really dont care. Our Empire is large enough and has a Thriving economy(thats what our U.N. Classification thing says.) Also, the Congress has more important matters to think over, seeing how this is an Important part in the Transistion to DEmocracy in the Lightning Star.

A pair of Weyrean ekranoplans, purchased some years before, 'skidded' towards the wreckage, if their flight over the water could be called that. Inside were members of the Fourth Expeditionary Corps' 26th light infantry company, and two dozen alchemists from Weyr Sky and Space Designworks.

"At least they had the decency to crash near the shore," the pilot commented as they neared the Blackbird's massive hull. The Blackbird's pilot had plowed the skyship into the shoreline, so that at high tide the water actually touched the lower rear of the hull.

The Sakura and the Subaru were flying roughly six thousand meters above. It would take at least two weeks to get the entire skyship force back into shape, although another three Skyships -- the Sakura, the White Rose, and the Red Rose, would be arriving in a few hours.

If the Laut cruiser, despite ceasefire, where to engage and fire upon the R.T.S. Black Cannon, than the Hopeful One, the Hopefull Two, and the Hopefulll Three would each arm and fire one Boeing Sea Lance anti-surface warfare (ASW) torpedo a piece, damning the international rules of engagement.

Hopefully, the Lauts wouldnt dare risk another war with the UAI.

Carl Rollins shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Sir? I thought that we were abiding by the cease-fire."

"We are." replied Beregovoy. "But this little melee has demonstrated that the armored airship is a viable weapon of war. Shalrirorchia NEEDS to be able to examine that technology. And although the President intends to try and bridge the gap in relations with them, the Weyreans probably are not going to be too eager to sell us that technology."

Rollins nodded and stretched a little. "And you want me to do something about it?"

"Precisely. Our window of opportunity is narrow. We have to have access to the Blackbird's computer schematics." Beregovoy said quietly.

"What's the plan? And why me?" the Sergeant asked.

"Why you? Well, Carl, you happen to have nearly fifteen years of experience behind you, including seven in the elite Rangers. And you worked for the spooks once or twice in your time..."

Sergeant Rollins grimaced. "Bloody axe-murderers, them."

"We each do what we can to ensure the safety of the free world." contradicted Beregovoy. "In this case, we need you to sneak on to the ship disguised as one of the engineering detail there to put her back in the air. We will provide you with a special high-density data sink. You should be able to dump the bulk of their computer core into it. Then get out. All without being noticed or detected by Weyrean security. We will equip you with a non-lethal weapon as well, easily concealed. But if you do this right, they should never even know you were there."

The ships are heavily guarded by both Weyr AND myself. It will be hard.

OOC: No problems with espionage/infiltration here, as long as it makes for good RPs. I have an infantry company in there via Ekranoplan and C-240. And there are at least two very potent skyships still flying up above. Two ekranoplans arrive every twelve hours or so with alchemists, parts, and troops. Captain Roger Bailey watched a pair of alchemists mark out one of the big holes ripped in the Blackbird's armor. His weapons officer was still on the bridge, scanning the area with the Blackbird's potent infrared. The two armed ekranoplans had come and gone, after depositing their cargo and passengers.

"Capt'n," alchemist Reynald Jess leapt from the hole that was once an artillery turret, landing softly onto the ground. "The fusactor can't be fixed, not here. I've contacted central and they'll ship a new one in a few days. My teams tell me we can get her flying in maybe five, six days. Can't fix the armor, but we can seal the holes and the airframe."

"Good. Keep me informed," Bailey nodded. After a moment he decided to leave the alchemists to their work and speak to the leader of the company of High Guard holding the beachhead. They were holding a beach-head roughly two kilometers long and one kilometer long. Another company was being air-dropped into the area, along with a few bits of equipment that would arrive before night-fall onboard the Sakura.

Turning to one of the scanner operators he said, "Get me a full scan of the area and send to orders to the Pegasus's to mount the relief missions. Also, relay the positions to General Leclerc on land so he can move the troops in for support incase of any threat."

"Yessir," the operator replied just as the scan picked up something very large and very beat to hell. "Sir its one of the Weyrian airships."

"Weyrian huh? Well its always nice to see some farmiliar faces, send in a relief group of Pegasus supported by Reapers and relay the position to Leclerc so he can send a detachment to help out."

"Right away sir," the operator replied.

Turning to the communications officer on the bridge, Admiral MacCloud rattled off another order.

"Send a message to all allied commanders that if any assistance is required just say the word, as we have all fresh troops and planes."

"Aye, aye sir." replied the communications guy.

Lord Draconis sat, as he did every night, in front of the Etheric Scopes and spy-sat readouts. He hadn't slept in over a week, watching carefully as the situation in Germania Superior deteriorated into bloody war. Seeing how fleets of skyships did battle with the artillery on the ground and fighters alike. He now watched as the war came to a close, wishing he had deployed troops earlier. Perhaps then, the war would have ended sooner, saving thousands of lives. Annoyed with himself, he thought of the billions of dollars lost to deploy the fleet needlessly, the lives lost were not his citizens, and they could die if it was there fate to do so.

Turning to his computer console, he prepared a declaration of Akaton's plan to withdraw its elite attack force from Lauterburg:

The Evil Empire of Akaton hereby recognises the ceasefire agreement in place in Germania Superior and Luaterburg. Within the next day, our dropships will remove them from your territory. No permanent garrison or peace keeping forces will remain. We wish Germania Superior the best of luck in the future, may their sovreignty never be threatened by oppression again.

The dark lord of Akaton knew that this war was ending, but it was not over yet. He would not let this end like the war against Ersilia. Akaton would not waste its billions on a petty show of force with nothing in return. A bit of looting would be more than enough to justify this war to his people. Grabbing the hyper-wave transmitter, he sent a priority one message to Colonel Vaugn, commander of the 3rd imperial infantry corps.

"This is Lord Draconis, dropships are inbound on your position, ETA five hours. You are ordered to loot and pillage the nearest target of value to your present position. Focus on federal reserves and research facilities. I want you to take everything you can from the area. Attempt to minimize enemy casualties. We just want some 'compensation' for our efforts, not a slaughter."

"Colonel Vaugn reporting in my lord. Our troops have already captured a government facilty, but resistance is heavy. Half of my forces have taken up defensive positons in and around the facility. My second in command reports heavy cassualties. Get us out of here!"

"Dropships will be arriving shortly. Tell your troops to grab what they can and make for the pick up point. DO NOT continue to attack the Lauterburg troops. Your orders are to fall back, Colonel."

The Beta Aurigae VII troops will commence withdrawl from Lauterburg territory. What is it you find confusing? I simply stated that whoever the pirate-nation was that looted from Lauterburg/GS didnt return all goods in 12 hours, now 11.5, that I will destroy up to 80 cities along with approx 70,000 citizens of that nation.

A few days ago, Germania Superior was barely even an independant nation. Now they had not only secured their independance, but they seemed to have merged with there former enemy.

Sergeant Rollins, now known as Sural McKenna, climbed out of his wetsuit on the hull of the downed Weyrian aircruiser. He took great care to conceal that equipment, as he intended to use it to LEAVE the ship once his mission was accomplished.

Under the wetsuit, he wore a work-detail uniform identical to those that the crews repairing the Weyrian ship were clad in. He had false identity papers, workable tools, and of course his data sink and a silenced pistol. The pistol was easily concealed, but fired darts filled with a potent neurotoxin that would render anyone he had to shoot at unconscious in seconds.

If he did things right, he would not have to use it.

He reached over and tagged his comm. "Ghost is now haunting." he subvocalized into the receiver while staring out to sea. The transmission was narrow broadcast...he had to be pointing in the direction of the receiver, and there was no garauntee he had been heard by base HQ. But it was THE standard of Shalrirorchian SpyOps comm systems, which placed greater emphasis on secrecy than on direct, HQ-driven control. A narrow beam transmission would be a cast-iron bitch for anyone but the intended receiver to pick up.

Satisfied, Sergeant Rollins looked for a work detail to join..

Their purpose is to locate any such government officials who remain free and evacuate them to Severnaya Island, and from there to Shalrirorchia for a protected exile.

It was a detached turret actually, since the hull of the Blackbird was too high and steep for anyone to easily climb up. "C'mon, man. Get yer ass down here so we can git workin'. Don't-cha got a job ter do, or what?" This kid was going to mess up his calculations, and besides, he probably was supposed to be workng somewhere.

Rollins, AKA Sural, nodded from where he was up on the hull. "Ah was told to check for stress fractures in this section of the hull!" the "alchemist" yelled back. "They bloody well said they d'tected some damage here from the hard landing! An' I TOLD 'em it was nay possible that such damage existed! The problem's w'their blanking computers! Ah'm gonna give them what-for!" he shouted back. "Anythin' you need when ah git back?!"

"Yeah; steak, fries'n a womah," thr alchemist shouted. "Now git off and go check those computers've ya got nothing better to do."

Rollins allowed no sense of exultation to fill him as he entered the Weyrean computer room. With a quick check to make sure he was alone, he withdrew that data probe and the data sink, and looked for a port he could plug in to. He found it after about a minute, and slapped it in.

The data sink took things from there. It had cutting-edge intrusion software, designed to overwhelm and shut down ICE, or even Black ICE. It was messy, and it would leave a code trail back to the data sink if the Weyreans examined their logs later. But such information was almost worthless, since there would be no record of who had actually OPERATED the data sink. The user tag would be "Anonymous User 001". And more importantly, it would get the contents of the data banks.

Rollins settled back, looked busy, and waited for the download to complete.

The Blackbird was similar in design to the other Sakuras, with most of the equipment and crew space located at the upper bow and with utility passageways threading their way through the rest of the skyship.

The primary use for the computer room was to provide an interface for transfering older software that could not be directly fed into the modern Emulated Magicka 'net crystals that had replaced computers in Weyr nearly a decade ago. As such, the integral systems there were used to interface things like the data sink currently hooked up to one of the four computer terminals located in the relatively small room.

One of the additional benefits of 'net crystals, aside from their speed and capacity, was their ability to actively record the physical enviroment in which they were, which is what was happening in that computer room. Tehre was no real safety program active, since there was little point in copying the schematics and data stored locally.

No-one showed up, and the data transfer was completed without a hitch.

Rollins took only long enough to make a backup copy of the materials gleaned from the Weyrean computer systems, an operation that the sink, now disconnected from the ship, could do by itself. He was not much of a technician....but what he'd seen in passing made him realize just how valuable this was. The Weyrean systems were impressive beyond the capacity of mere words to describe.

Time to initiate phase two of the plan. He had to get off this ship. He slipped the data sink back into his pocket, zipping it up, then fetched his tool kit and made for the exit, returning to his point of origin, his wetsuit, and safety.


OOC- Weyr, sorry, I was not familiar with your ship systems. And more importantly, provided we pull this off, what type of information would Shalrirorchia get out of the airship's computers?

OOC: Basically, you got the ships schematics, engine schematics, the weapons loadout, and the programs that govern ship movement and weapons systems. The whole thing is around 60-80GB when converted into standard format. You -didn't- get the specific design schematics on the fusactors or the actual 'casters that make up the Blackbird's artillery, although you got the principle by which they operate via calibrations and basic schematics. Also, you got the levitation coil calibrations and schematics, which would make sense to a very highly trained alchemist or patterner who studied in Weyr, but would be gibberish to probably any other scientist.

Any non-magitek nation would have to spend decades developing the infastructure to build an exact copy of the Sakura, expecially since the lev' coils that keep the ship in the sky cannot be otherwise reproduced.

OOC- That's okay. Shalrirorchia doesn't necessarily replicate stolen technology...they take what they've learned and design their own stuff. They've already been experimenting heavily with various displacement technologies, as the railgun demonstrates.
