Yesterday morning at 8:30AM palace servants in the Royal Capital of Cornwall and Kent - Hobart - were surprised to find that their King, Lucas IV Everard, had not yet risen.
"His Highness usually rises at 8:00AM" the head butler said. "When he did not rise, we naturally became worried."
Eventually he and another male palace servant entered the royal bedroom and found His Highness lyng in his bead seemingly asleep. As the two men entered the royal chamber the King did not stir. He was found to be dead.
The Royal Palace Circular was immediately posted on the gates to the palace. Teh ehad govrnment authrorities were informed, and the Palace was draped in black. The public did not learn of the death till the radio message given by Crown Prince Alexander, the Heir to the Throne, was broadcast at midday. The casue of death was a heart attack.
"Today we gather..." Crown pricne Alexander said solemnly..." -addressing a emergency meeting of the House of Lords later in the day- "...to celebrate a great reign, and to mourn a great loss."
King Lucas IV had not reigned for long - he was only 40 years old and had reigned for 8 years - but almost everyone agrees that the great reconstruction of the tatty Cornwall and kent economy brought about during his reign was largely due to his influence. His state funeral will be held at St. Davids cathedral in nine days time. All fellow world leaders are invited to attend.
