Small arms license production.

Calleballien
25-07-2004, 22:11
The constitutional monarchy of Calleballien is hereby requesting offers for small-arms license production for the Calleballien armed forces (CAF).

Calleballien has production facilities for the production of small-arms but no suitable design. Therfore Calleballien arms industries (CAI) will be awarding a contract to the most suitable design submitted.

CAF needs a service-rifle, a sub-machinegun and a machinegun. These weapons need to be as similar in layout as possible, should fire the same cartridge for logistical simlicity, and should ideally have as many identical parts as possible for simplified manufacturing.

The contract spans for licenses to produce one million (1 000 000) assault-rifles, five hundred thousand (500 000) Sub-machineguns and one hundred thousand (100 000) machineguns. All weapons will be used by the CAF exclusively no exports are intended.

All offers must be submitted before friday the thirteenth of august 2004.

We can licence the Ak74(rifle) AKS74u(SMG) and RPK74(MG). They're all based on the AK74, and fire 5.45 ammunition. They use alot of the same parts, exactly what you asked for. They're easy to produce, simple to operate, and reliable
We can lisence all of them together for 100 million.

Submachine guns usually fire pistol rounds, while machine guns fire rifle rounds... finding an ammo for all three isnt very likely...

Chellis can sell you Three versions of the Famas g2 however, a rifleman type, a submachine gun type, and an Mg type... $2100(Felin sights), $1000, and $1100 respectively(MG type has barrel clips, 620mm barrel, SMG has M-16 style 30 round clips and a 488mm barrel.). All fire the 5.56x45mm.

Well, that's one deffinition of a submachinegun. Some consider a very compact rifle, like the AKS74u, to be a submachinegun, but those are all opinions.

The Mark 3 Rifle System is a gas operated selective fire battle rifle built originally for the sole use of the Saruan Expeditionary Force during the previous highly isolationist leadership… but times have changed, and the former AR-3 has be updated and is now offered for export by Sarua’s Largest Arms manufacturer and original designer GeckoWerks.

-Technical Overview-

The GW’s Mark III Modular Weapons System is based around the Mark III MBR (Main Battle Rifle) which is a Gas Operated Select Fire DA Rifle containing a Glorious absence of controls. Though Lacking an external selector switch, or safety the rifle is capable of firing in both semi-automatic, and Fully automatic Modes (up to 750 rpm) as well as being carried safely with a round loaded in the chamber, and without the fear of accidental discharge due to a drop (up to 45 feet), or severe impact/nudge.

The common response to the first time handler of the weapon is “Then how does it work?” the answer lies in its Modular Advanced Trigger Mechanism or MATM which is based around the integration of a Double Action (DA) mechanism, and a “Pull-Through” fire selector in a modular removable drop in housing. With this system the Mk. III can be carried with a loaded chamber and then fired immediately simply by squeezing the trigger, no cocking is required, though in the case of a failure to extract (very Very VERY rare on the Mk. III series) a Cocking/De-Cocking lever has been added on the top of the left side fore grip in case of an emergency. The Pull-Through Fire selector allows by squeezing the trigger normally it fires a single shot as per normal Semi-Automatic function, after the “break” there is a noticeable lull in the trigger tension for about a 5mm pull then the tension reappears, Continuing to squeeze the trigger (as the trigger is all the way back) allows fire as per an automatic rifle. The trigger pull for the first stage is a constant 8lbs with the second (Automatic) stage averaging around 10 lbs. This means that a soldier can easily fire several quick accurate shots in semi-auto and then (without any change in stance/firing position/lever to flick/etc) lay down automatic cover fire. The system is easy to learn, intuitive, and a joy to fire (A normal squeeze = A single shot, A strong squeeze = full Auto or controlled bursts) the MATM unit also features a hammer release delay device, which is serves to delay the hammer release in the full auto fire by few microseconds. This does not affects the cyclic rate of fire, but allows the bolt group to settle in the forward most position after returning to the battery position. The other remarkable feature of the modular trigger system is that the two side plates that hold the trigger mechanism together have machined steel feed lips that help firmly guide cartridges from the magazine into the chamber, making the MK.III to be one of the most jam proof rifles available on the market today.

This lack of external Controls, Combined with a swept back grip means a naturally Accurate, and Pointable rifle that is comfortable, and highly intuitive to acquire a correct sight picture on. Coupled with a Optical Gun Sight (like the Model A shown on some models) attached to the built in weaver style rail system on the top of the receiver means an increase in the lethality of the system.

The receiver is milled from a solid billet of CVT3 Stainless Steel and contains a two part modular bolt carrier, and Volmer style encased telescoping recoil tube (ala MP-40). that can quickly be replaced or removed for cleaning without the risk of losing or damaging the components. The gas chamber is located above the barrel and connected to a inset gas regulator. Inside the gas chamber lay two Long stroke Pistons that are permanently attached to the bolt carrier. The bolt carrier rides on the two reinforced rails, machined in the receiver, with clearances between the moving and stationary parts, which allows the gun to operate even when its interior is severely fouled with sand, mud, silt, etc. The rotating bolt has three massive lugs that lock into the receiver, and is so designed that on the unlocking rotation it also makes a primary extraction movement to the fired case. The results in very positive and reliable extraction even with a highly fouled chamber or case. The rotation of the bolt is ensured by a reinforced curved cam track, machined in the bolt carrier, and by the appropriate studs on the bolt itself. The Mk III is fed from a 25 round, stamped steel magazine A positive magazine catch is located just ahead of the trigger guard and solidly locks the magazine into the place by use of a double Locking lug mechanism providing a Positive, but quick releasing (when needed) mechanism. By switching out receivers, Barrels, stocks, or fore grips, a wide variety of special purpose weapon systems can be constructed in a matter of minutes.

Our Para-Ready Models come standard with our Patented GeckoGrip Synthetic material, a special manufacturing process creates thousands of miniscule overlapping ripples too small for the eye to see that provide a lifelong diehard grip even when muddy, wet, or covered in high viscosity motor oil in addition the synthetic material is shock proof and wont crack even under the most extreme of circumstances meaning the rifle is protected, and ready to protect you whenever you need it, whatever the weather.

Simple. Intuitive. Effective. The Mark III by GeckoWerks is a Highly Reliable, Modular, and Adaptable to today’s changing Battlefield, and Law enforcement Needs.

OOC: If I stick to definition entirely, your request is totally impossible.

By definition, an SMG is any automatic weapon that fires pistol-size ammunition. Hence the name 'Sub-machinegun', meaning 'Below Machinegun'

Simple design similarities are simple to do, I'd suggest the M16-based line for example.

Service Rifle: M16A2, 5.56x45mm North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
Service Carbine: M4A1, 5.56x45mm NATO
Service SMG: Colt SMG, 9x19mm Parabellum
Support Machinegun: M-16 Belt-fed/M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), 5.56x45mm NATO Belt
Service Shotgun: USAS-12, 12 gague

The M16 belt-fed is something I haven't seen used, but found on the SWAT 3 expansion set. If that doesn't work, I'd go with the Heckler & Koch line of products. All are simple to produce, are highly reliable, and come in a variety of calibers.

The above weapons are all based on the same basic design, and most of them fire the same cartridge. All are highly reliable & can actually be bought in today's arms markets. Various scopes, silencers, and high-capacity magazines are avaliable for the rifle, carbine, SMG, and shotgun varients.

There are also several lower-cost copies of the M16A2 design, such as Armalite's AR-15 'Bushmaster'.

OOC:An SMG firing rifle ammo is perfectly do able it all comes down to nomenclature, soem call them micro rifles, some call them SMGs and some call them PDWs.

Mercenary Soldiers: well instead of the Colt 9mm you could always use one of the super short comando varients or even a Olympic Arms OA93 and the belt fed shrike conversion would be a very good contender as it is lighter and aparently more accurate than the M249

Normally Crookfur would make an offer but our various MGs, rifles and PDWs are a bit spread out in terms of chassis.

Why purchase 3 different varieties of weapon when you could combine all three into one, adaptable package?
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v357/Rentro/fal_dsa_sa58osw.jpg
The Kelarms HC68, based on the FN FAL assault rifle, is a cut-down, highly-adaptible version of it's famous Belgian cousin, it is slightly larger than the average submachinegun, but it has served that purpose very well in service with the Kelonian Special Forces and counter-terrorist forces, and is also easily adapted for use as a light machinegun (a simple case of attaching a belt-feeder attachment and setting the fire selector to full-auto).

It fires the 7.62mm NATO round, and is capable of being fitted with a number of useful attachments, including laser targetting systems, sniper scopes, flashlights, tripods... almost anything else you could imagine. If the size is an issue in your submachinegun version, the weapon is quite safe to fire in burst mode with the stock folded or removed - the stock itself is partially telescopic anyway, and this feature can be used to lower the overall length of the weapon without damaging accuracy as much as removal would.

Similar layout? same cartridge? identical parts? All dealt with by using a multiple-use, highly adaptible weapon for all three purposes. It also has another bonus - issue all troops with a rifle like this and if a squad in the field needs more machineguns, all they need to do is adapt their current weapons with a simple, easily-made-regular-issue attachment. There are many circumstances in which this could come in useful.

Pricing? The weapon sells for $650 a unit, and comes with an adaption pack that includes the belt-feeder attachment, a tripod and a basic scope - your troops will never need to use another weapon. Other attachments availible on request.

Need Defence? Buy the Best. Buy Kelarms.

I was under the impression that a PDW (Personal Defence Weapon) only referred to a handgun?

As for classifying a SMG-sized gun that uses rifle ammo, I've always considered them Assault Carbines (Colt Commando, H&K MP53 etc)

Oddly though, the French FAMAS is only about 70cm long, yet is considered an Assault Rifle (much like the British Enfield SA-80), whilst the Russian AKSU-74 is considered an SMG despite being chambered for the 5.45mm Soviet cartridge (same as the AK-74).

The accepted definition of an SMG, however, is an automatic weapon chambered for pistol cartridges, ie the Tommy Gun, Sten Gun, MP40, Uzi, MP5, Skorpion, etc.

generally i take PDWs as being intermentate weapons like the MP7 and the P90 of course there are soem wild variations like the LWS solution that uses a necked dwon 10mm auto case to fire a saboted 5.56mm round throught an M16 based weapon...

the issue is that things tend to get very blurred at times (after all what do you call a M16 adapted to fire .50AE with a 22" abrrel it isn't really an SMG although it uses a psitol round).

i say just use what ever siuts you.
