"Okay, I'm ready."
Rick looked up at the command station, watching the scientists move about. He looked down at the experimental power armor that was ready to recieve him, it's first subject. He smiled, rare for an SOET.
"Okay, let's begin. First, step into the armor. The technicians down there will help you." Rick stepped into the suit, glad to get his naked feet off that ice cold steel floor. The technicians slowly assembled the armor around him until it was there. He could sense that this thing was really bulky.
"Initiating step two. Compression beginning." The armor quickly compressed, becoming only an inch thick. He could hardly feel the armor as the suit adjusted to his body temperature. He smiled again as the helmet was put on and attached.
"Initiating step three. Synchronization." Rick felt a sharp prick at the back of his head as the suit made a hard link with the implant at the base of his skull. His had been altered from other SOET to accomidate this prototype.
"Initiating step four. Activation." Rick heard a whining noise and suddenly felt an incredible pain at the back of his head. He clutched at his head, not even realizing the suit was the one doing it. He fell to his knees still clutching his head. His body twitched once and he lay still.
"Check his vitals! Quick!" The scientists were frantically trying to ascertain what had gone wrong. A technician went to Rick's armored body and opened a panel. All his vitals had flatlined. He looked back up at the command station. "He's dead."
"Damnit.....okay. We need to get him out of there." The technicians closed the panel and turned the body over. It was fairly heavy and proved to be a difficult task. The facemask was dark, none of the lights were on. One of the technicians reached for the latches holding on the helmet and touched them, ready to lossen them.
Lights snapped on and Rick's hand flew up into the tech's face. The technician died as his skull caved in and he did an impromptu backflip, blood spraying over his fellow techs. The techs scrambled back to a corner, terrified. The body stood up. "Rick! Rick, can you hear us?!" The helmeted head looked in the direction of the command center. "Rick is no more. I am Nemesis."
The scientist cursed and called for troops to deal with the threat. They were too slow, and Nemesis had already slaughtered the two other techs, covering a wall with their remains and blood. Nemesis held up an armored gauntlet, surveying one of the techs' heart. "Such weak things, you humans."
A door slid open and troops poured in. Nemesis quickly counted them. Thirty, all heavily armed. "Freeze! Hand's on your head!" Nemesis shook his head and crouched. He sprang straight up, busting through a vent grating. The troops all crowded around the room and began filling the ceiling with lead.
Inside the command center, the scientists were panicking. What the hell was happening? Why was this thing calling itself Nemesis of all things? A grate launched out of the ceiling, taking a scientist in the top of the head. It stopped about halfway through, and the scientist fell over. Nemesis slowly lowered himself into the room.
The scientists looked at the door, but nemesis was too fast. He ripped a computer bank out of the wall and hurled it at the door, crushing another scientist. Blood seeped out from underneath it.
The lead scientist looked terrified. Nemesis smiled under his helmet. The scientist spoke up. "Why do you call yourself Nemesis? Who are you the Nemesis of?" Nemesis walked up to the scientist. He stroked the scientist's face with one gauntleted hand. "Life." With those words, he swung up his free arm and smashed the scientist's skull between his hands. He then turned to the next scientist, and walked slowly forward.
Five minutes later
The door exploded, dislodging the computer. The soldiers slowly entered the room, looking for their target. After a clean sweep of the room, the reported back that the target was not there. The scientists were, for the most part.
Deep within the complex
Nemesis slowly eased his way out of the grating. He had stopped along the way to download the entire layout of this complex. He was exactly where he wanted to be. He looked at the wall. 'Experimental Melee Weapons'. Nemesis walked through the corridor looking for the main room. All that lit the halls were the flashing emergency lights. This floor had cleared out already. Pity.
He came to the door he was looking for. With a quick movement, he punched the metal door, tearing it out of the wall and hurling it into the room. He walked in and saw what he wanted. Held in place by a clamp in the middle of the room, a single sword glimmered in the red light. It looked almost like blood. He strolled to it and gripped the hilt. He pulled it free of the clamp and tested the weight. The sword hummed slightly when he gripped it. He knew what the hum was. Vibrating at an incredible speed, this blade was supposed to cut through practically everything. He decided to test it on the wall.
He thrust the blade into the wall and carved a circle in it. He kicked his new door and it slid slowly and fell into the next room. He smiled. This sword could do that to a foot of titanium. He could only imagine what it could do to a human.
He heard the thudding of footsteps. He stepped out into the hallway to face his opponents. The soldiers ran into the hallway and stopped. The front row dropped to their knees and the back leveled their weapons.
He dropped to a stance he had calculated would be effective for the situation.

"FIRE! KILL THE FUCKER!" Nemesis took off into the hail of lead, bullets pinging off of his armor. He came upon the soldiers very quickly, and in less than ten seconds it was over. Blood dripped from every surface. He walked over the assortment of body parts and heard a groan. He was stepping on someone. He took his foot off and looked at the single survivor. He had been half cut through at the waist, and Nemesis speculated how he had lived. Oh well. The soldier died painfully.
Nemesis had all he needed. Except for freedom. He began to run towards the exit.
Outside
The tank leveled it's cannon at the only entrance or exit to the complex. The doors opened and the gunner fired. Nemesis was thrown back from the blast and slammed into the wall. He shook his head, the human part of him dazed for a short time. He was lucky the shell had hit the desk he rolled towards the door, or he would have been killed.
Nemesis stood back up and charged the tank before it could fire again. He flew out of the building and ran up the tank, dragging his blade in his wake. The blade cut clean through the top of the turret, killing the commander of the tank. He sprang off the back of the tank and ran into the night.
Searches were sent, but none found him.
